SnowAngelz: Canadian fans of David Archuleta

omigosh, guys, I’m not even sure what to tell you right now.

Refnaf and I were in Layton tonight.

I’m crying as I write this… my heart is breaking for David because we all know how he hates to let people down… I have no idea how much you know about what happened tonight (I haven’t been online at all), so I’ll describe it in case you don’t.

We’d heard that the whole crew (David most of all) had been pushing themselves for these first shows in four years, and we knew David had sung his heart out in Idaho. Turns out they were also all sick with some kind of bug.

When David started his set, his voice started cracking on TOSOD, and afterward he explained that he was ‘under the weather’ and to bear with him if he started “yodelling” or had to talk through some songs, which he wanted to do because he felt it was really important that he shared the messages of those songs… that the songs were chosen really carefully for the show and he didn’t want us to miss out on what they meant.

He changed up the melodies on the TOSOD medley and the Tarzan medley, sometimes singing the harmony part, sometimes speaking the words. The crowd couldn’t have been more supportive…. so many cheers, standing ovations, everyone singing along when he asked us to… Kendra took over for a bit as he went off stage and she and the band belted out a rocking version of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” … now I admit, I’ve made some unkind cracks about Kendra’s singing in the past, but she really stepped up and clearly has David’s back.

Anyways, he spoke about some really meaningful things tonight … but joking and laughing and rambling in classic David fashion, but with a new maturity and sense of purpose.

He closed the show early with a beautiful, different version of BOTW and then Glorious and I was glad to see from his tweet that he felt he love and support of the whole crowd there.

The show’s producer came out and said that everyone there tonight would get half-price tickets to a Christmas show that David will do to make up for things.

His voice has always been a precious gift… every song we get to hear him sing is a blessing, in my view.

I just want him to be well and happy and to know that he has so many people in his corner around the world.

Group hug, anyone???? I know I need one.

So many comments on these that say how fun the show was, which warms my heart.

Dear Diary,

Tonight I saw a concert I will NEVER forget. I could go home tomorrow and be happy I was there tonight.

I confess, I was a little worried when the show began. David sounded like maybe he had a cold, and he seemed detached, anxious.

But song by song and ovation after ovation, it seemed to sink in that, yes, David, you are loved. And then, wow, he moved and grooved and got chatty and was genuinely surprised we knew the words to his songs.

David, David, David.

And this was not a hall filled with die hard fan site fans- in fact I only recognized a handful of people… these were “real people” as Princess Archie so aptly put it. And they screamed and cheered till he believed us, dang it.

When he shared that he almost quit, even told his manager “I don’t want to do this anymore,” you could hear our collective hearts sink…  no, break into a million tiny shards…  Then hushed silence when he introduced his new song Numb.

But then it began and I got chills and choked up because I loved everything about it…it’s real and so him and what he does with his voice knocked me out…everyone spontaneously leapt to their feet when it was over and you could see how relieved and happy he was. he was floating… no wait, that was me.😊

He was so sincerely grateful to everyone for coming, he kept repeating it.. . he felt the love… and I think that’s ultimately why I wanted to be there tonight.

Sorry for the stream of consciousness, I can’t sleep and I’m pecking this out on my iPod lol.

– the opening act girl did an amazing job on Don’t Give Up *cough*sogladitwasn’tkendra*cough*
-love that he honoured his earlier music with a medley… AND INCLUDED E.L.E.V.A.T.O.R!!!!!💃👍👏🎉😃🎶
-love that he mentioned one of my all-time favourites, Van Morrison, and sang a snippet of Brown Eyed Girl!
-the lovely Tampa Terry sat next to a guy that said he’d heard David at MoTab and was “blown away” (his words) and just had to see him sing live again (sound familiar? lol)
-LOVED Nunca Pense… did not expect him to do that! And those mooooooves!
– my new favourite phrase: “supermodel babes”
-he choked up a few times and I’ve never felt so much empathy for this remarkable young man and how he struggles but soldiers on, putting one foot in front of the other.
I feel so incredibly blessed to have been there and SO glad others got to see it on Periscope! It’s like it was invented for David!😎

Dear Diary,

Yes, I am still in Idaho… awesome so far but I still haven’t had a potato. How is his fair? I bet Mr. Archuleta has had a potato. He was a completely different David in concert tonight. He was sassy and swaggery, putting proposing fans in their place and slaying them with snappy comebacks… in song, of course.

It was great to see him more relaxed, having fun with the crowd, which was an “energetic” Friday night audience, as D. put it. Spontaneously cheering, standing and clapping during Crush, calling out “I LOVE YOU, DAVID!” … just like old times.

I thought he might not be as chatty tonight but he was more so, I think … such a storyteller… with gestures that make the need for a hearing-impaired interpreter completely unnecessary.

The merch table was hopping for David tonight… even if I didn’t already own 2,25485348 copies of Begin. , there is no way I could’ve gotten near enough to the table to buy another 6 or 7. And tons of girls came to the concert wearing the shirts that were on sale for the first time ever last night.

He is so grown up now… a grown man… yet still David. Isn’t life grand?

I met so many lovely Archies for the first time tonight and last night…. we’re a pretty awesome group, aren’t we? 🙂 🙂 🙂

p.p.s. I still love Numb… and it’s now stuck in my head… yay!

I’m keeping my expectations low for the upcoming shows (my usual strategy)… so even if it’s just David a cappella doing nothing but Miley Cyrus covers, I’ll deal. But these options would be nice too 🙂 :

#1 choice: All brand new stuff… totally never-before-heard, fresh-out-of-the-writing-oven songs that leave the entire crowd gasping for air.

#2 choice: Mostly new, sprinkled with some Nunca Pense, Broken, Pride, True Colours, He Showed Me How, EWTRTW, My Hands and Elevator (‘natch), with an encore of David at the piano covering that Someone Like You he’s teased us with.

All other choices: Who’s kidding who, he literally could sing the phone book and yes, I would download Abrra’s mp3s of same.

So how about you guys??! What would you most like to hear??!
