A little too not over Idaho Falls @DavidArchie

Dear Diary,

Tonight I saw a concert I will NEVER forget. I could go home tomorrow and be happy I was there tonight.

I confess, I was a little worried when the show began. David sounded like maybe he had a cold, and he seemed detached, anxious.

But song by song and ovation after ovation, it seemed to sink in that, yes, David, you are loved. And then, wow, he moved and grooved and got chatty and was genuinely surprised we knew the words to his songs.

David, David, David.

And this was not a hall filled with die hard fan site fans- in fact I only recognized a handful of people… these were “real people” as Princess Archie so aptly put it. And they screamed and cheered till he believed us, dang it.

When he shared that he almost quit, even told his manager “I don’t want to do this anymore,” you could hear our collective hearts sink… Β no, break into a million tiny shards… Β Then hushed silence when he introduced his new song Numb.

But then it began and I got chills and choked up because I loved everything about it…it’s real and so him and what he does with his voice knocked me out…everyone spontaneously leapt to their feet when it was over and you could see how relieved and happy he was. he was floating… no wait, that was me.😊

He was so sincerely grateful to everyone for coming, he kept repeating it.. . he felt the love… and I think that’s ultimately why I wanted to be there tonight.

Sorry for the stream of consciousness,Β I can’t sleep and I’m pecking this out on my iPod lol.

Sweet dreams, dear diary.
p.s.
Randomness… A+++ to his stylist, he actually looked tall! 😎 Footwear on point, also!
– the opening act girl did an amazing job on Don’t Give Up *cough*sogladitwasn’tkendra*cough*
-love that he honoured his earlier music with a medley… AND INCLUDED E.L.E.V.A.T.O.R!!!!!πŸ’ƒπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŽ‰πŸ˜ƒπŸŽΆ
-love that he mentioned one of my all-time favourites, Van Morrison, and sang a snippet of Brown Eyed Girl!
-the lovely Tampa Terry sat next to a guy that said he’d heard David at MoTab and was “blown away” (his words) and just had to see him sing live again (sound familiar? lol)
-LOVED Nunca Pense… did not expect him to do that! And those mooooooves!
– my new favourite phrase: “supermodel babes”
-he choked up a few times and I’ve never felt so much empathy for this remarkable young man and how he struggles but soldiers on, putting one foot in front of the other.
I feel so incredibly blessed to have been there and SO glad others got to see it on Periscope! It’s like it was invented for David!😎

Dear Diary,

Yes, I am still in Idaho… awesome so far but I still haven’t had a potato. How is his fair? I bet Mr. Archuleta has had a potato. He was a completely different David in concert tonight. He was sassy and swaggery, putting proposing fans in their place and slaying them with snappy comebacks… in song, of course.

It was great to see him more relaxed, having fun with the crowd, which was an “energetic” Friday night audience, as D. put it. Spontaneously cheering, standing and clapping during Crush, calling out “I LOVE YOU, DAVID!” … just like old times.

I thought he might not be as chatty tonight but he was more so, I think … such a storyteller… with gestures that make the need for a hearing-impaired interpreter completely unnecessary.

The merch table was hopping for David tonight… even if I didn’t already own 2,25485348 copies of Begin. , there is no way I could’ve gotten near enough to the table to buy another 6 or 7. And tons of girls came to the concert wearing the shirts that were on sale for the first time ever last night.

He is so grown up now… a grown man… yet still David. Isn’t life grand?

p.s.

I met so many lovely Archies for the first time tonight and last night…. we’re a pretty awesome group, aren’t we? πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

p.p.s. I still love Numb… and it’s now stuck in my head… yay!

What do you guys think? Thumbs up? Thumbs sideways?

D

DEB!!! You were there!!! omg I’m so happy for you!!! I’m so happy for all of us!

I’m with you. I felt the tentativeness when he came out. The uncertainty. Then he got into his groove and got better and better and better. Bless Liz for periscoping the whole thing. And when he starting talking about Numb. And then sang it. It was over. I was officially dead.

What a time to be a David fan. What a talent. Just, thankful.

I have to be at work in a few hours and I haven’t slept a wink yet and still I’m thankful. Best possible way to spend my night and morning.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us! ❀

.. was all I needed to hear this morning. LOVED that he shared from his heart where he was at..that alone meant to me DAVID is back. And the song…LOVED that we heard the raw nerves, (that song, which I LOVE btw, will only get better and richer)…but last night it was "in the moment", just "outta the box" new, raw, real, David…sharing his gift of music. No more to say except…I wish I was there. I want to be there soon. Meantime…I'm still here.
Tku to the fans out there that went and shared the vids for us!

Thanks so much for your fan report!! You were so lucky to be able to go. I am so very happy that Liz “periscoped” the whole thing. It was the next best thing to being there! He sang a lot of songs and included songs from all his albums (except CFTH) plus the new song which I love, of course. I agree about David starting out slowly and a bit nervous, but he just got better and better. I was glad to hear that he has a lot of “real people” fans that were there, not just us diehard ones! I’m also thankful that he decided to continue his music career. I think his music is going to be better than ever.

Happy that you were able to attend the concert. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with those of us who didn’t attend.

So glad that David worked through the feelings of wanting to quit to be comfortable to share those emotions now that he is at a place where he wants to be. I must say, when he said he told his manager “I don’t want to do this anymore”, I gasped like others did. It had to sink in that he meant he didn’t want to do his career like he did it before. Being so honest and forthright with the audience helps us fill in the blanks concerning the last couple of years.

Deb, thank you for sharing your thoughts about last night. I’m so grateful to those who recorded the concert for so many to see on Periscope. Many tears were shed last night and I’m sure the same will be again tonight. I’m so proud of David…and I love the new song with all its honesty! I will never forget it either. We are so blessed!

So happy you were there!!! So banging my head that I wasn’t!! Haven’t been able to find an hour (or 3 or 4) to sit by myself and really take in all of the vids…what I’ve heard so far is just WOW!! Our guy is back folks and all is right with the world again… “sigh” 😍😍

Aw TOfan, so happy that you were there, at the first concert, how very special! Loved reading your heartfelt recap. We were all blessed….so grateful to those amazing fans who made it possible to tune in. I was thrilled to watch some of it, didn’t get the whole thing but enough to feel his heart and the audience’s. Yes, David keeps putting one foot in front of the other, he is really a trooper, stays true blue to himself, so admirable. I’m sure that voice within would be a continual encouragement to keep going, keep the music going.
Such a mature, more relaxed David it seemed, on stage now from what I could see. He did great. By what you have mentioned in your recap, sounds wonderful! Really love his new song and I agree with this… “Periscope! It’s like it was invented for David!” How perfect that turned to be!
So glad you were there and yes….definitely an unforgettable experience for you. One thing about David, you can always feel his heart, last night…no exception. Thanks so much for sharing, the partial stream that I saw really touched my heart, can only imagine what being there would do. ❀

No Idaho potato? I have failed you in the worst way!! Sorry.

Apparently we were much too busy with our post-concert committee confabs, reviewing David’s every word, every (salsa) move, and every perfectly perfect note he sang. No small potatoes with all that there either.

  12. Kizzi says:

Just WOW. And Ref and TO are on the road again. Shear bliss! Thanks for all that you shared. πŸ™‚

And, he is so David yet different. Always true to himself and shares that unapologetically. Aside from the gift of his voice, the sharing of his thoughts and feelings is such a part of his charm and ability to inspire. Such a generous spirit and beautiful soul.

    Love to all!
