SnowAngelz: Canadian fans of David Archuleta

The best thing about getting behind in David world is when you get to catch up in binge-athon fashion and feel like you just polished off six double-chocolate cakes (but with no calories or sugar-rush crash or, in my case, icing all over your white blouse).

Oh ya.

That’s where I’m at right about now. I know you guys are probably all spazzed out over the Chapman vids but I just got a chance to watch them (and possibly rewatch them) and if you see any typos, it’s because my jaw keeps hitting the keyboard.

Wow. Just. Wow.

When David makes the live acoustic album he promised me *cough*inmydreams*cough* I really hope he records it in this venue. The acoustics. Like buttah.

I read dja’s amazing recap and I can’t believe she was able to string a sentence together after sitting there hearing all that live. I would’ve loved to hear his spoken ramblings too, of course, but that might’ve just put me over the edge. Especially as he’s wearing his stripey-TOFW-gonna-stir-your-soul-with-some-heartfelt-insights-before-I-slay-you-with-This-Voice sweater

I can’t even say which song is my favourite.

I love Numb, and acoustic Numb is SO powerful… heck, he even knocked himself off his own stool. But at least he had those cool giant shoes to balance himself with. 🙂

And I just knew he wrote My Little Prayer when I first heard the Slovenian Idol version. So sweet and simple yet profound. So David.

And Crush with him at the piano and a couple of eyebrow wiggles at the cap-and-gowns in the front and the whoop of the audience when he does his glory run… even the stoic lady on stage in the Chancellory robes waved her program in appreciation for a nanosecond. (She probably wasn’t stoic at all, just turned to stone by sitting so close to a serenading Archuleta.)

This weekend begins the first long weekend of the summer, with Monday being Victoria Day.

Generally, we celebrate here by wearing tiaras and walking around speaking in a fake British accent but this year, I thought I’d do a special tribute to Queen Vic herself.

She was quite a woman, marrying for love (astounding for royalty of her time), having nine children and reigning as Queen for 63 years. Fun fact: She loved music and I have a feeling she’d be a huge David Archuleta fan.

Hello and welcome to all Slovenian fans attending David Archuleta’s performance on Friday.

How big a deal is David in the States? Well, just take a look at this:

Yes, he is quite a big deal.

And since it’s David’s first time in your beautiful country, I thought I’d help you out and give you some tips on what goes on at a David show, along with translations for some VERY useful phrases.

#1) Make sure to shout this out at the top of your lungs every single time he pauses to regain his train of thought… or just anytime really:

 Ljubim te, David! … which means “Bravo!”

(it actually means I LOVE YOU, DAVID!!!!!! mwahaha)

#2) When it’s a particularly dramatic moment, especially if David walks over to sit at the piano, scream out:

 Poroči se z mano, David!!!!  … which means WAY TO GO!

(it actually means MARRY ME, DAVID!!! 🙂 )

#3) For men with deep Slovenian voices only: If he sings any Christina Aguilera song, belt out:

Ti si lepa … which means “Alright!”

(it actually means “YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, DUDE!!!!“)

#4) And at the end of the show, clap and shout:

Ena pesem! … which means “One more song!!!”

(it actually does mean “One more song!”)

#5) And Mr. Archuleta loves his food and is very sad he can’t be there in September for your World Festival of Roasted Potatoes (this is actually a thing over there) … so you will make him feel welcomed and part of the Slovenian gang if you toss a few roasted potatoes up on stage. Trust me, it’s a long-standing fan tradition.

Now you lucky Slovenian peeps have a blast at the show! Hopefully he’ll sing “Simpatij” … Crush.

CAN YOU TELL I’M EXCITED???!!!!!

Oh, and about @hair.by.hills. Do not be fooled by that flower shop business… you might look and see all those flowers in the window and think “Hey, those hairstylists must be really into roses and baby’s breath” but no, that’s a whole separate business. They only sell flowers. Sure, they might have clippers and I bet they’re really nice people, so they’d probably give you a trim or something if you really needed one. They snip flower stems and stuff so they do have some practice. But right next door is where my longtime pal works. She has super sharp scissors and those twirly chairs and everything. Plus, she is a good person. Not that the flower shop people aren’t good folks. I’m sure they are. How mean can you be if you sell flowers all day? But they’re next door and don’t do either #haircut or #haircuts even though they’re in #SLC and #SaltLake. Did I mention I’m super excited to go to CANADA???!!!!!

Hope David picks up one of these for his niece while he’s in the Great White North. I actually saw one of these in a toy story yesterday. I presume the Barbie Horse is extra.

This is a full-on Kari Appreciation Post just in time for the lovely Kari’s birthday!

She deserves all the presents and candles and balloons for putting up with all of us.

And she does so with grace and humour and kindness and, I’m guessing, a boatload of those calming essential oil thingies.

Congrats to Amber and all that but Kari is, most certainly, our Miss Congeniality. She’s also our panic attack therapist, our shoulder to whine on, possibly our enabler, but a wonderful force for good in David world.

As you probably know, David Archuleta’s next Time Out for Women appearance will be May 6 in Lethbridge, Alberta. David may not be aware of this but that’s actually in Canada.

The Lethbridge organizers shrewdly timed their event to take place after the Orlando and Cincinnati events so that David’s eyes would likely scan over the schedule and maybe not register exactly where Alberta is.

I kid. That part of the country is gorgeous and I’m sure he’s stoked to go somewhere new.

I’ve had a few questions and comments from fans who aren’t quite sure where Lethbridge, or Alberta, is. So, in the spirit of transparency and information sharing, here’s a quick tutorial.

Fun facts about Canada:

● We have 10 provinces and three territories. Alberta is one of those provinces. I have submitted a proposal to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to make Utah our 11th province and move it beside Ontario for obvious reasons.

● Canada is huge, bigger than the U.S. even. In fact, our land mass is second only to Russia (China is third and the U.S. is fourth). We have oodles of land but only about 6 people. All of those people are David Archuleta fans.

For some context about our landmass, in order to travel from my home in Toronto, Ontario, to Lethbridge, Alberta, I’d have to either drive across Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan before I got to Alberta, or take the shorter route by driving 32 hours through the U.S. Or I could take a 6 hour flight.

Fans in Calgary, Alberta, (*waves to Awestruck*) are fairly close to Lethbridge (about a 2 hour drive).

Fans in Victoria or Vancouver, B.C. (*waves to peppertara*) can drive to Lethbridge in about 12-13 hours or take an almost 3 hour flight.

Another fun fact, it’s actually a shorter trip from SLC to Lethbridge than from either Vancouver or Toronto.

I did actually check into going to Lethbridge because I thought it would be cool to be there when David tiptoed a tiny way across the border (baby steps, people, baby steps), but that event was already completely sold out! (See David, Canada loves you, dude! Keep exploring!) And it would’ve been nice to travel to see David without having to go through the usual grilling at U.S. Customs & Immigration as to the purpose of my trip. *gulp*

More facts about Canada:

• Our dollar is super low right now so David should be able to buy 1285983 caps.
• Snow can attack at any time but so can a heatwave, so you need to have both a parka and camo shorts at your disposal.
• Poutine is a Quebec specialty but the whole country has adopted it now and David should try it … while he’s young… and his arteries could probably use some clogging.

Apparently the best place to find poutine in Lethbridge is at Piggy Back Poutinerie. The address is 303 – 6 Street South, and the telephone number is … wait for it … 587-425-CURD (2873). 🙂

What a brave young woman speaking out about anxiety and depression, so many people of all ages can relate and will, no doubt, feel less alone.

I’m especially touched by the sister support… one of my own sisters is going through a tough time right now, my sister-in-law is in hospital for surgery and a good friend and her sisters are taking care of their dad in his last days.

Sisters are indeed special… sometimes infuriating 🙂 but often a real life line.

Okay, getting emotional now, lol… sending out lavabombs of love to all you sisters and sisterly peeps out there!
