Hey guys, David here. Just wanted to share what I’ve been up to lately.
It all started about five months ago. I was driving through the toll booth at the Nashville Airport and met the friendliest toll booth lady, Betty.
I drive through lots of toll booths but Betty’s booth was special. We chatted and I felt happier when I left. Inspired, somehow.
Next thing you know, I’m going online to find out more about toll booths and people named Betty. There were even a couple of YouTubes that I kept watching over and over. I felt hypnotized, mesmerized.
There are over 2,000 views on this one and a bunch are probably mine, haha.
It’s so strange, I’ve never stanned for anyone or anything like this before (except maybe music, and God, and food, and Disney soundtracks, and Pokemon… okay, I guess I’m into a bunch of stuff).
Then I stumbled on a whole toll booth fan community out there. Who knew? I’ve since connected with all these people who pile into cars and drive out of their way to experience these magical connections. It’s amazing.
I don’t know if it’s the rush of driving through them or getting your coins ready or the friendly smile of the booth person, but once you’ve done it once you want to go through again and again and again.
Travelling used to be a chore but now it’s super fun to get together with others who share this crazy passion and we support each other in hard times and cheer each other on when we need support.
I don’t know if Betty knows what she started but I got the thrill of a lifetime this week when I drove up and there she was again! (I confess, I did scroll through Fans of Betty to see if I could pin down her schedule, but no luck. So this was definitely fate!)
Hope I didn’t creep her out or anything, I just wanted to thank her for all the smiles and joy she sparked that day. To show my support, you know?

Is seminary an LDS thing?
It’s a scripture study class for young people. in my area it’s before school, at the seminary teacher’s home.
This is so dang cute! But oliveoil, at first I also thought it was a real David blog that I’d missed, ha ha ha. I am also #TeamBetty! Really gives me a push to chat with people I usually just whiz by.
