Manila madness: David Archuleta returns to the Philippines!

How awesome are the Filipino fans????? I watched the uStream of the hero’s welcome Team Airport gave David this afternoon and couldn’t stopped smiling. (If you missed it, the amazing Abrra captured all 16 min. of it on youTube HERE.)

And at 4 a.m. (4 a.m.!!!!), David’s two lovely costars were also there to fight over him meet him for the very first time. Forget Downton Abbey, their fangirling (and David’s flustered adorkableness) could’ve been a miniseries all on its own, lol.

Here are some highlights:

Here’s a cute vid of David’s two TV5 costars talking about how excited they are to work with him:

And LOOOOVE this one with some of the fans, ohmyheck *sniff*

A twilight wish come true

Twitpic @SunnyHilden: "David Archuleta singing to Phyllis - I'm smiling 'cuz her clock bells are ringing:)"

Remember this story about the Twilight Wish Foundation (which fulfills the wishes of seniors in need)?

“Among the most challenging wishes-in-the-works are someone who wants to perform with the New York Metropolitan Opera, and someone who wants to be serenaded by β€œAmerican Idol” finalist David Archuleta.”

Well, that someone was an 88-year-old cancer patient named Phyliss. And before David caught his flight to Manila — like he had nothing else to do — David took the time to grant her wish to hear him sing …

I’m not 100% sure how it all came about, but I think some warm-hearted fans alerted Sunny Hilden about the story, and she and David arranged through Twilight Wish to visit Phyliss and make her wish came true.

Here are Sunny’s tweets to @Twilight_Wish (and answering fan Qs) telling the story:

Phyllis’ wish came true today!! She loved meeting David Archuleta & we loved meeting her & her family.β™₯β™ͺβ™« …

He sang Phyllis’ favorite song, Ave Maria. They had no piano, so I brought one I’d lent David during Idol:) …

Phyllis is amazing: 88-years-old, no wrinkles, full of inner light like the photos on the wall of her dancingβ™₯β˜† …

We went to her! Thought from the article she was in Pennsylvania, but she was only about 40 miles outside LA:) …

Phyllis had meet & greet for Pomona, the Grove 09, couldn’t go due to health – she’s got his CDs, book:) …

Phyllis: “Come here, David, I want to show you where your picture is…” (their family album!) Preciousness …

And of course, he didn’t think to mention it… Makes you wonder what other wish-granting David gets up to that we don’t hear about. πŸ™‚

"Thank you @DavidArchie @SunnyHilden for making Phyllis' @Twilight_Wish come true last night!" (Twitpic: @Twilight_Wish)

Journey of faith

Source: Tumblr/ilovechudavidarchie

Like many of you, since the Announcement, I’ve felt a jumble of emotions — bouncing around to every stage of grief and back again. So many doubts, questions, angst, moments of peace then back to foot stomping, lol.

Then, on Saturday, I attended the funeral of a close friend’s mom. On Sunday, I visited with my friend to make sure she was doing okay. Helped put things in perspective for me. And then at Mass, the priest gave a sermon that I felt was meant just for me (as the best ones usually do πŸ™‚ ).

He spoke about the three wise men at the Nativity and their “journey of faith.” He said that anytime we follow the innermost desires of our heart, even if they defy reason and seem irrational to others, we’re on a journey of faith. That anytime we shut out the noise of the world to deepen our relationship with God, we’re on a journey of faith. That anytime we feel ourselves fill up with pure love, we’re on a journey of faith.

Afterwards, I couldn’t help but think about this fan journey we’ve all been swept away on … the highs, the lows, the people we never would have met otherwise, places we never might have gone, other cultures, faiths, ideas and points of view that we might never have explored or made an effort to understand.

And even though we have no idea why this crazy ride happened to us, that didn’t stop us from leaping aboard with both feet to follow every song, concert, interview, tweet, random sighting, appearance or vlog David’s made. A journey of faith indeed.

I’m still not ready to go back to listening to David’s music… but I’m almost there. That’s what I miss most. The joy it’s always brought me. And will again. I do have faith in that.

P.S. I stumbled across this post on Tumblr and it was so honest and heartfelt, I wanted to repost it here (I hope 1specialsong doesn’t mind):

David Archuleta- β€œI’m Trying To Be Like Jesus”

So I’m watching this video again- just randomly and I’m really staring at the screen instead of just listening to his voice- which is something I really like to do. I’ve kind of already said this before, but I must post about it again. If you really stare into his eyes during this performance, the last show of his My Kind Of Christmas Tour (the last tour stop for two years), before he leaves for his Mission, you can’t help but to be taken back by the light that is in him. Any Archies know that this was the show after he announced his Mission intentions, and God, I am so touched by how at peace he looks with himself, so happy and serene he looks, and the light that is shining through his eyes- even more than usual makes me so happy I want to cry. That might seem like a contradiction, but seeing David, someone I love, so happy is all I ever want to see from him. He makes me (and us) so happy all the time, and he deserves to do this- because it is going to make him happy. This song choice, right after his announcement, proves to me, how serious he is about this decision- and I am at peace within myself knowing how excited and happy he is to do this. Now, I sit here, covering my face, trying to make it look like I’m not crying because his whole heart and soul is on display in this song. All his intentions in doing a Mission are honest and true- all he wants to do is try to share how much Jesus and his Church means to him and knowing that makes me so happy. Knowing that he is going to do something that means so much to him and having no doubts in his mind are truly the most comforting things for- anyone, let alone a fan- to know. I am so happy for him, and I will let NOTHING make me resent him, his decision, or anything else…I will let NO DOUBT creep into my mind that hasn’t already because dang it, I love him and I just want him to be happy. Sorry. These are my feelings and I just felt I should say them because I was watching this video that always touches my heart in ways I can not describe, sorry. Please forgive me.

Wait, wait, don’t go, Lorna! The persistence of The Archuleta

"Lorna, Lorna, Lorna, take the dang picture!" (photo: the lovely @nareejo)

I first sent this post to TOfan right before the β€œannouncement,” but found it so trivial and unimportant afterwards that I asked that she not post it. Even two weeks later, I had mixed feelings as there have been so many beautiful, poignant and eloquent postings since that announcement that I thought mine would seem silly.Β  Then I realized that sometimes silly is just what’s needed!

Persistence of The Archuleta!

Stroudsburg VIP arrives and while in line I’m running through my head what I’m going to say.Β  Do I say something endearing, funny, supportive, what?

Remembering my first failed attempt at British humour with him at the Philadelphia VIP, I quickly ruled out β€œfunny.” Β I figured I could manage a few legible words and say, β€œIt’s been great being a part of this incredible journey with you.” Simple right??!!

So I walk up put my hand out and….. and…. I become a blubbering idiot (I know there are many, many of you out there who know exactly what I’m talking about), and if memory serves me right, I basically got out, “You’re wonderful!”

No name, no “Hi, how are you?,” no rehearsed speech.

I mean, seriously, β€œyou’re wonderful”??? Even my failed dry sense of humour at Philadelphia was more creative!

Wanting to quickly save myself further embarrassment, I started to walk away, but oh no … Mr. Archuleta had other plans for me.

David: We’ve got to take a picture.

Me: Oh no, that’s okay.

David: What?!

Me: I don’t do pictures.

David: Why??

Me: I just don’t like to have my picture taken.

David: AWW, PLEASE!!

Bubble Overhead: WTHeck, who do you think you are Mr. Archuleta? You can’t intimidate me with that smile, sparkling eyes and soft concerned voice. Oh yeah, you think putting your arm around my back to pose is gonna work…. think again!

Me: Ohhhh okay!

From all accounts from on-lookers, David seemed rather pleased with himself for talking me into it. The guy has no boundaries and does not play fair!

Those that know me know that I don’t do pictures….. EVER!

I started to walk away and made a detour for Stix and in between him taking photos, I pleaded that I didn’t want my picture on the Internet – not because I was wanted by the law or anything…. I think he got a chuckle out of that.Β  He was so sweet and said, “Let me think about what to do and I’ll catch up with you shortly.”

Later, Stix said he could email me my picture. He asked what David said and why I had taken the picture if I felt so strongly, so I told him what transpired.

Me: I mean, seriously, how on earth do you say “No” to David.

Stix: *laughs* You can’t.

Lesson learned for next VIP – pre-Announcement:

1. Have a speech down pat.

2. See therapist to get over having picture taken.

3. Or grow a backbone and say NO to the Archuleta.

Lesson learned for next VIP – post-Announcement:

1. Grab onto him for dear life.

2. Look him dead in the eye and ask, β€œSo, what are you doing next?”

3. See therapist about handling future β€œannouncements.”

Little did I know at that time that David’s persistence (and you can tell from above that he had to work really hard at convincing me, lol!) would be so important to me now. He had the knowledge of his leaving and I’d like to think that he didn’t want me to regret not having the photo.

I’ll have this story and picture as a wonderful memory to always hold dear. As well as seeing the smile of satisfaction on David’s face that, yet again, he proved he has his fans in the palm of his hand and can do with us what he will, lol!

Thanks, David, for being so persistent!

Watching David Enchilada’s MoTab DVD with my mom

Source: Tumblr/ilovechudavidarchie

My mother passed along her love of music to me at a young age. Everything from Beniamino Gigli and Maria Callas records to Broadway recordings and Harry Belafonte albums played throughout the day, usually with my mom singing along.

And singing carols around the tree on Christmas night is a longstanding family tradition. So when I finally gave her a DVD of “Glad Christmas Tidings” a few weeks ago, I couldn’t wait to watch it with her. I envisioned ooo’s, ahhh’s and spontaneous standing O’s.

Not so much.

This is pretty much verbatim how it went:

Mom: That’s him? Ankellatta?

Me: Archuleta. David Archuleta.

Mom (gasps): What happened to his hair??

Me: What about it?

Mom: It looks punk! Has he gone punk?!

Me: It was filmed last year, that was the style.

Mom: But it’s sticking straight up??

Me: You’re missing the music.

Mom: And what is he wearing??

Me: A tuxedo.

Mom: It is?? But there’s no crease in the pants. He needs a crease in the pants. It reminds me of that Seinfeld episode…. and what are those dancers wearing?

Me: Period costumes.

Mom: How can the men move in those long pants??

Me: The theme is Pioneer Heritage, so they’re wearing vests and pants.

Mom: Ballet tights would be better… they could kick their legs higher… not for those older men, but the younger ones should wear tights.

Me (trying to get back to the music): Have you heard this carol before?

Mom: No, is it a new one?

Me: It’s an old one apparently, but I’d never heard it before.

Mom: How many people are in that choir?

Me: I’m not sure. A lot. … It’sΒ  a huge venue, and his voice filled the place.

Mom: They must have good acoustics.

Me: Um, ya, but his voice is amazing.

Mom: He’s not on TV much anymore.

Me: This will be on TV. On PBS.

Mom: I’ll tell my friends. How do you say his name again, Archilada?

Me: Archuleta.

Mom: I don’t know why I can’t remember his name… He is very good…

Happy New Year, everyone!

Adding this lovely blog post from SLCΒ ICU nurse (Kim Maddox):

Dec. 24, 2011: "@emccaffertyful: @DavidArchie Thank you for seeing my niece! U made her day!! :D"

christmasΒ eve

I’m not religious.Β  Not at all.Β  But I can feel awe in the presence of Β truth and love and laughter.Β Β  And it seems I can believe (after all).

A Β handful of us gathered close as a young man sang to my patients, and my two girls began to glow.Β  The girls were slowly getting better and becoming friends but they were still in the ICU. Β A single, true voice rose to fill the room and the girls began to smile and heal.Β  It’s the music.Β  The song.

We were blessed yesterday and reminded that a melody can carry an entire heart.Β  A song can heal, make two sick girls giggle, help them forget where they are for a day and turn them into sunshine.Β  David Archuleta sang β€˜O Holy Night’ at my patients’ bedside, a single voice, numinous and clear.Β  For the girls it was a private audience with our city’s superstar, a Christmas they will never forget, even in the hospital.

smanda’s @DavidArchie story: A silver lining hiding in the grey

Source: Tumblr

I’m not saying that I didn’t cry. Those near me in my row five seat at the SLC Abravanel Hall concert might have noticed that I had a death grip on my sister-in-law starting with David Archuleta’s tears when he mentioned his sisters just before he broke my heart singing Silent Night. They might remember me stumbling blindly over the row behind me to fall into the arms of a friend whose face was also streaked with tears. They might have heard actual sobs. Pretty sure they did.

I’m not saying that I’m not sad to see him go. I’m not saying I won’t miss him. I’m not saying that I have never had a single moment’s fear of what the future will hold. I’m not even saying I’ve always thought this mission thing was a great idea, though I am LDS too and the cousin, sister, sister-in-law and wife ofΒ Β returned missionaries, as well as the mother of a returned missionary, a current missionary and a future missionary.

I thought David’s mission was his music. I never expected him to serve full-time. I guess you could say that I didn’t ever want him to go.

But….

I’ve been a card-carrying member of this fanbase from the very beginning, and though I love and enjoy that gorgeous voice as much as anyone here, what I love and support most of all is that boy. What I want is for that boy to be happy. I know this isn’t unique to me, by any means. I just know it is at the core of my reasons for following David as closely as I do.

So when he stood on the stage and wept in such a dignified way while he cracked open his heart for us to peek inside – every piece of me supported what he was saying, and began to understand why he was saying it. He was saying that he was ready to grow in a new way, a way that will likely be difficult and require a lot of him, and he was asking, without asking, if we would let him go with our blessing.

He was asking to be allowed to wall off a period of time in his life for sacred purposes. And saying he was going to do it even if we didn’t want him to, even if it will require a very great deal from him.

In the LDS church, keeping the Sabbath day holy is a central practice. On Sundays, we refrain from work, focus on our religious duties and our families and take time to give our Heavenly Father our full attention, just one day a week.

It isn’t really a day of rest in the sense of naps and leisure activities, but it is a day of rest from worrying about secular things. It is a day to focus on God’s work, and in so doing, we renew our strength for our own labors. In my life, the Sabbath day has come to color every other day. Every day I do some little thing to prepare for that day of focusing on my God. Every day I reap the rewards of having had that spiritual time in my week, every day I draw strength from the discipline I have cultivated over my lifetimeΒ Β – the discipline of looking away from my own life and toward the lives of others, toward being God’s hands just one day out of seven.

Though this view may be controversial, I believe David has big work to do during his time on this earth. He has already demonstrated a rare quality of spirituality as he serves others from a very generous heart. I can only think that he will do more and more of this during the rest of his life. He has so very much to give and has already given so much.

He needs to take time for himself, to prepare for the rest of his journey. I believe that his mission will serve as a sort of Sabbath in his life. He won’t be resting in terms of a luxury vacation at a resort, in fact he will be working as hard as he has ever worked thus far. But it will be God’s work he is doing. God’s children he will be serving. His concerns will not be about concert venues or royalty checks. His concerns will be about a person he knows is suffering, a family that is falling apart, someone who is lonely, someone who is lost. He will be actively seeking the Spirit every moment of every day on behalf of someone else.

And because our David is David – every action he takes, every prayer he says, every person he loves, will turn itself into musical gold in his heart.

In order for David to fully bloom into the person he was born to be, he needs this time. He deserves this time. The fact that he can take it, in the face of some pretty stiff opposition, is a testament to his strength of character. I believe that he knows what is best for David. And what is best for David, is best for all of us. What touches and teaches David, will ultimately touch and teach us all.

I will be here when he gets back. I suspect you will be, too.

Where else would we go?

Toronto’s CADTHU recaps epic Verona, SLC and Beaver Creek shows

***********************************

Faced with a blank page, my mind goes blank.Β  How do you even start to recap the experiences of the SLC and Beaver Creek concerts? Then I realized, it’s because they can’t stand in isolation for me. They are an extension of my experience at my first MKOC show at The Turning Point Casino in Verona, N.Y. Three different shows, three different VIPs, three different sets of emotions that somehow define my feelings for the man.

Check out the card CADTHU got for Christmas! πŸ™‚

Verona
I hadn’t seen David β€œlive” since the final CFTH Westbury show (I miss Ray!). It was a no brainer when the MKOCT schedule was released that I was heading to Verona, VIP tix in hand! I was excited beyond description. Two years almost to the day since seeing David. How much had he changed? (a lot according to the endless vids I watched!). Would I freeze up again and mumble incoherent garbles in his presence? (yes, my brain sees David’s eyes, stops functioning = usual outcome).Β  Fortunately, I ran into wonderful fans at my hotel.

Excitement and laughter kept me from thinking about seeing David and kept me relaxed.Β  As it turns out, Verona was my favourite VIP! We had a very large room so it was easy to walk around and meet other fans (I think over 100 people at this VIP). David came out and, well, after my heart beat returned to normal, I realized that yep, David had changed.

WOW! He was stunning, gorgeous, older, and so relaxed and confident! He happily chatted to everyone during picture taking, taking his time, laughing with everyone. It was wonderful! I waited until the end to get on line as I was enjoying watching David enjoy himself!Β  When it got to be my turn I put out my arms for a hug and David hugged back, NOT hesitantly, NOT awkwardly, but warmly and strongly!! BEST MOMENT EVER!!

I then babbled on about the gift I gave him. Side note: Two years ago David said he was thinking of learning to play the guitar.Β  Therefore, for David’s gift at the CFTH Westbury show I had a box of customized guitar picks with his signature on them made for him.Β  However, they would NOT let me give him the gift. So I told David in Verona that I had been waiting two years to give him this gift!

You know David, he gave me that β€œaawwww” thing he does but with a huge smile! Btw, who would have guessed the significance of two years at that point! I also told him to come to Toronto!!Β  ( I have venue suggestions David!!!!). David then answered questions, sang Happy Birthday (*dead*), and the GP/LIB mash-up. It wasn’t perfect but dang, he was perfect to me!

After VIP I visited the Child Fund table and found Evin Octavio Perdomo Alvarado, a five-year-old Honduran boy, whose mom was providing for her family on $32/month. My heart swelled as I signed my sponsorship for Evin. THANK YOU David Archuleta for giving me the opportunity to help this boy! Evin and I will be waiting for you when you return!Β  And btw, the Verona venue by far had the best acoustics and SNOW!!!!!! Yes, baby, all things being equal WE HAD SNOW!! It was perfect and special!! David and the Archuband were out of this world! Plus, mistletoe not being active on stage = BEST ARCHULETA LINE OF THE TOUR, hands down!! (Keeping fingers crossed for a β€œlive MKOC” dvd from Verona, with SNOW!!! Yes, you want that, too!!)

Summary:Β  Verona represented my David to me! The voice, the looks, the chatting, a new found confidence, a caring and loving soul, a room full of fans. I stayed up all night loading my few vids (camera police were active!) and re-living this wonderful experience!! David thrills me, brings light into my life. So did this concert!

Salt Lake City
When the MKOCT schedule was released I had this very strong feeling that I needed to go to SLC and BC but didn’t think I could ever afford to go.Β  I mentioned this to my hubby and he said β€œlet’s do it”!!Β  WHAT?!! Hubby checked Air Miles and we had enough for two of us to fly to SLC/Denver and back to Toronto!!! Then I mentioned VIP and he said, β€œIf we’re gonna do it, then let’s do it BIG!”  I ordered VIP tix for both SLC and BC that night.Β  EVERYTHING about that trip fell perfectly into place. It was crazy, I kept joking that it was meant to be! Who would have guessed, right?

Let’s just say that I got horribly sick from Verona (β€œVerona pneumonia”!) and was barely functional for three weeks! Only the thought of seeing David in SLC kept me going. But finally, I was in SLC! It was a lovely city; my hotel was across the street from the venue and The Temple. I went to Deseret Books and stocked up on my (signed) GCT cds/dvds!! Soon it was time for VIP and we headed over. Can you say β€œEXCITED”?!!!Β  We went in and found out that rehearsals were going on. So my go-getter hubby asked if we could watch, and they said YES???!?!?!?!?!!

There we were, sitting right by the stage watching all of the planning (Jeff in control) and the practicing by the orchestra. WAY COOL!Β  But finally it was time to head to the VIP room so we left.Β  VIP at SLC was different than Verona.Β  The room was much smaller and filled with chairs, making it very difficult to move around. Also, the piano was at an angle that blocked the view for many. But David came in and we all sang Happy Birthday to him. He loved it. We then started with picture time, everyone in a festive mood!

This time, I decided to shake David’s hand (confession of ulterior motive:Β  I wanted to see his eyes again haha!).Β  I told him that we love him in Canada and to please come. However, I got the strangest response this time. He hesitated, there was no smile. Then he said β€œmaybe someday, someday.” I kidded him that he HAD to come to Canada and left.

It felt, well, weird. I chalked it up to him being nervous! Had no clue what was coming but it sure makes sense in retrospect! I’m guessing that there are numerous vids posted of David at VIP (we were told to go ahead and take pics/videos!!) so I’ll stop here. My memories of this show are still processing and may take a while to fully come to the surface. The hall was spectacular! Jeff LeBlanc was awesome. Then, about 2,700 people all screaming for David!! I took vids, loved David, teared up with David at Silent Night.Β  We sat two seats next to Lupe and the Archuleta clan. Lupe was SO happy and looked so proud of David when he was on stage. It was all so perfect.

And then David came back for his encore and well, yeah, one sentence that turned my world on its axis, tumbling out of control. I was stunned! I can’t remember O Holy Night other than the tears in David’s eyes. And then the concert was over. I saw again the pride and happiness in Lupe’s eyes following the announcement and I knew that this was the only right decision for David.Β  However, my heart was ripped to pieces, many people around me in tears.

In the lobby there was an equal split of tears and excitement. I am not a prolific enough writer to ever be able to describe the explosion of emotions that I was feeling.Β  Thankfully, I had hugs from other fans to help out with it all. I needed that to cope. YES, it was meant to be that I had made the trip to SLC!

Summary:Β  SLC represents the moment that I realized just how much I loved David and how much he had become a part of my life, how much he had made me a better person and how much I loved my Twitter friends and David’s remarkable fanbase. I still haven’t watched a vid from SLC (including my own) except for the announcement video posted on the OS and just ONCE!Β  It’s just still too painful! I know David’s decision is right (no one can tell me β€œI don’t get” David!) but I’m still coping.

Beaver Creek
Thank you FOREVER, Beaver Creek! Did David purposely schedule one more show after SLC?Β  Who knows, but it sure ended up being brilliant!Β  Let me start with breakfast at the hotel the day of the show (btw, Verona pneumonia returned in full force the day after SLC. It took us ALL day to get to BC!).

I was wearing my David Archuleta hoodie (which ironically, I bought at the beginning of the SLC show because as I had told my hubby, I think I need that hoodie!).Β  While getting my juice, a young man came up to me and asked me if I was a β€œDavid fan.” Β I, of course, said yes but the young man then left. Hmm?? Well, fortunately, he came back and we started to talk. He had come all the way from Mexico to attend the VIP. He’d brought his parents who didn’t even speak English. He asked me how I knew of David (I’m thinking, loaded question!). I told him from Idol.

He then explained to me that he was watching iCarly in Feb (yes, this Feb.) and went β€œwho is that guy?” He then learned about David and felt a strong connection to him. WOW, right?!! He couldn’t wait to meet David. My morning had already been made by this sweet young man, but then many other fans of David (that could be a great name for a website!) started to arrive. I met all sorts of truly wonderful people.Β  We were ALL trying to cope with losing David for two years. What an amazing relief to be able to share our feelings! So many of us were scared of crying during the VIP when that was NOT the atmosphere we wanted for David.

We all shared that we supported him fully and wanted him to understand that. Many of us had received countless numbers of tweets from fans around the world asking us to tell David how much they love him. I cry at anything (my kids tease me over crying over a Garfield cartoon) so it wasn’t looking good for me –haha!Β  So, I decided to take my last moments alone before VIP to write David a VERY long letter (hmm, a lot like this recap!!) explaining how much he meant to me and his other fans.

Again, what a blessing to have the opportunity to write the letter and then be able to give it to David. That really helped. So did singing β€œWe’ll Be There” to him (thank you Karin and Monica and all those who coordinated the event!). I managed to get my pic with David, tell him how much his fans in Canada love him and that we WILL be there when he returns. I got another hug!!

But I also got to see the peacefulness in David’s eyes.Β  SO much different than in SLC!!Β  (of course, after I walked away I started to bawl.Β  I’m hopeless!!). I also felt that David was much more soft-spoken at this VIP.Β  I had a real true sense of inner happiness from David this time. Without my witnessing this firsthand, I don’t think I would ever have felt the same. I’m at peace now but still heartbroken over not having him around. Two years without β€œHey, it’s David here” will be hard.Β  But I digress…

So, Vilar Performing Arts Center, what the heck? I’m guessing many of you have seen the amazing vids from the VIP. You know how beautiful he was. You may have noticed that we didn’t get the last song David wanted to sing. We learned from Sunny Hilden that it was supposed to be “Be Still My Soul” but we ran out of time (NOOOOO!!!!). So Sunny suggested that they end the encore with that song but she then got locked out of the theatre while sponsoring a child and the opportunity was gone.Β  Dang!

All we knew at the time was that the show was starting and some Vilar representative spent an eternity on stage talking about the venue.Β  All I could think of was, hey, without this guy we could have gotten that last song from David (selfish but hey! David singing trumps Vilar guy!!).Β  Then finally Jeff Leblanc came on (seriously, I love this guy!). I was in a row of four people in the third row all the way on the left. Beside me were two elderly ladies.Β  Little did I know that they were the soon to be infamous Camera Naziis!!

I took my iPhone out after Jeff was finished and gray-haired lady (GHL) threatened me to put it away!! That’s when I knew we were in trouble. I could see people like Muldur with their cameras out. Sure enough GHL started waving her hands in front of us, jumping up and running after people OVER and OVER again!Β  At one point she dove into the aisles to stop someone from recording!! Our row couldn’t even watch David, it was SO distracting.Β  I soon discovered that all I had to do was play with my iPhone and GHL focused on me rather than Muldur and others.

I played with my phone a LOT but soon GHL saw the other recording efforts and put a stop to it. That’s why you guys have very little vids from BC.Β  However, during intermission a few things happened. First, my hubby ran to the lobby as did many others, like Pastel, who complained about GHL. Hubby demanded to talk to the manager, explaining how GHL was ruining the show. I, on the other hand, went to talk to Kari (David’s tour manager) who had come out, and asked if it was David who didn’t want any vids taken. Kari looked confused and said no, that must be the venue’s policy!! To make a long story short, GHL was gone after intermission, so I took out my iPhone (turned the display light way down till I could just barely see David on stage) and started recording!!! NO one stopped me.Β  So I believe hubby and Pastel were the true heroes here, NOT me!Β  But I did get every song after intermission (unfortunately with a very old iPhone and pretty poor resolution).Β  They are all posted on my YouTube channel (audio is great!).

Needless to say, David was perfection! I think we gave him a standing ovation after just about every song!! CEM, Ave Maria, OHN, were from a different planet, truly exquisite!!Β  I personally, was holding on until TFN (also exquisite) when it hit me that I may never hear David singing this again! *tears*!Β  We had so much fun (my row-mates, you were AWESOME!!) dancing, jumping, shaking the maracas (I love you David fans!!).Β  WOTWTC was so fitting as an encore. I still can’t believe I witnessed this first-hand. WOW, what an experience! LDB will always be my favourite MKOC song and this was a perfect ending to a perfect tour! (I shall NOT think about the Be Still My Soul alternative –lol!).Β  And then, there was more…

Sure enough, after the concert, David came out and greeted everyone at the tour bus.Β  Once again, he stayed as long as possible and was so giving of himself!Β  I wanted to go up to him but felt paralyzed again (he has that affect on me, ok?!!).Β  Finally, just before he was being pulled back to the bus I jumped in and got David to sign the beautiful pic in the Vilar PA program!!Β  I told him, once again, that Canada loves him, we promise we’ll be there when he comes back. He smiled. I died!! I treasure that autograph!!Β  Then he was back in the bus. BUT WE COULDN’T LEAVE! Again, I met the most amazing fans as we stood there, smiling for David, joking about sneaking on the bus (we promised to be quiet!!). Then Sunny Hilden came out! She is truly a lot of fun in person. I asked her about recording Falalalala. She wants to but hinted that David was hesitating. Β he requested that we tweet David asking for a recording. She would love to have it released next Christmas for us fans who will be missing David horribly at that point. GOOD IDEA!!Β  Let’s tweet tweeps!!

Finally, the bus pulled away. Instead of being in tears, I felt energized and inspired. I know absolutely for sure that I will be waiting for David.Β  I will be making every effort (move mountains and oceans if need be) to attend David’s first concert when he comes back.Β  And I know I will see you all there, too!! (and hugs to my after concert pals, it was so great to meet you all!)

Summary:Β  Beaver Creek gave me the inner peace that I needed and the acceptance that this is exactly what David needs to be doing. It represents my next phase of being an Archie (I meant it when I said fan for life!). I will miss him beyond words. I will wear my hoodie every night before bed!!Β  I had no idea how much difficulty he had in putting together the MKOCT. How can you not love a guy who is so caring and appreciative of his fans? I also wrote him that he better NOT close his Twitter account because thousands of hearts would explode if he did! As long as Twitter, his official site, and his many fan sites remain in operation, I know he’ll be back!! That voice, that passion, that remarkable man cannot remain silent.

I LOVE YOU DAVID ARCHULETA!!Β  Thank you for the most remarkable first four years and the years still to come!
