OMGsh TOfan…I love this 2011 recap! Some made me smile & some made me cry..not because there’s anything sad in there..just the memories that come flooding in! It’s been a good year..an INCREDIBLE 4 years & it’s all because of David & how he has been kind enough to share bits of his life with us. I wonder sometimes if he has a clue how much it means to us. Hope so!

I was hoping you’d do a year in review TOfan. I always learn from those times I get a chance to look through your eyes. And the things you notice! WOWZA.
My 16 yo granddaughter’s New Year’s Resolution is quite thought provoking not to mention inspirational for me – she said she isn’t going to have a ‘crab mentality.’ When I queried her, she explained it refers to a bucket of crabs, when individually, the crabs could easily climb out of the bucket, they instead pull each other back preventing any from escaping. Eventually they all die. She equated that to supporting her family and friends in their dreams, hopes, wishes, journeys, etc. rather than keeping them in a “safe” place.
Got me to thinking about David’s new direction, leaving one place and going to another following his dream.
Godspeed to all following their dreams, hopes, wishes, and starting new journeys this 2012.
wow, Kizzi! your gdaughter has an amazing thought there—we should all take that idea to heart and use it. It’s very ‘David-like’.

Another awesome moment was D singing the National Anthem at an NHL playoff game. Mike Fisher listening to David sing. David watching Mike Fisher play hockey. Can’t get much better than that!

I stopped reading EW during AI7 (for obvious reasons) but they popped up in my Google alerts this a.m. with the Announcement news and against my better judgment I scanned through the comments… mostly vile, but many supportive, including this one:

I saw that comment at EW. In fact, I’ve seen support in commentary all over the web. No matter one’s religion, one can see the beauty of such an act of faith. The great spiritual leaders at the center of each major religion all taught that the good life is impossible without asceticism, the abstinence from various sorts of worldly pleasures with the aim of pursuing religious and spiritual goals.
In fact, it is amazing (and comforting) to see the similarity of the concept across all major religions. And the love of those spiritual leaders and their teachings moves the faithful to spread the word of those teachings, the blessings of such faith, the love and sense of belonging to a group of individuals who hold the same beliefs and to seek salvation and liberation by exercising such restraint in ascetic acts.
Thus the etiology of the expression, I believe, “less is more.” It is pure and it is exquisite, beautiful love.
As far as the haters, I think they are caught up in the judgmental side of religion in that most religions hold, in general, that there is only one way, “their way,” to the Divine One. In my world view, God is Universal and loves all. Any effort, any path chosen, any ascetic action moved by love toward the Divine is “right.”
There are, in my perspective, many pathways to the Divine One. It isn’t about which path is chosen, as it is about seeking the Universal One and setting one’s sights on the journey, taking each step, learning, loving, and growing.

Kizzi, thank you for your very wise and beautiful words. They really ring true for me too and I have nothing but respect and admiration for David on pursuing the callings of his heart and his spiritual mission. I’m sure this will personally be for him, an amazing experience.

David filming a TV series in the Philippines has been circulating for some time now and was wondering if it was all true. Sounds like it probably will be happening! Exciting stuff, David the actor….love it! Doesn’t sound like David will be leaving for a bit. Can’t help but wonder too, if he will be sent to a Spanish speaking country for his mission. Singing to folks in Spanish while inspiring them…..yes, could imagine that.
Until then, sounds like he has some things in store for his fans. 🙂
