@DavidArchie in 2011: ‘Twas a very good year

There have been so many awesome 2011 ArchuTributes lately *shout out to FOD & FanScene especially!* I feel kind of embarrassed posting my quirky one (and also, those “Year in Review” features on the news generally depress me, lol) … but I wanted to pay tribute to some of the more random amazing moments David Archuleta has brought us this year … (all pics I’m afraid … can’t watch vids yet, so those’ll have to “Wait” 🙂 :

David started 2011 off right… achieving his goal to take a blimp ride:

Receiving my GCT DVD … so glad I watched the heck out of it before Announcement day… haven’t been able to watch it again since 😦

Dec. 24, 2011: "@emccaffertyful: @DavidArchie Thank you for seeing my niece! U made her day!! 😀

And how did David end the year?
Just how you’d expect him to ….

By spending his Christmas Eve quietly visiting (and singing) to kids in the ICU … oh man….

.

And this is actually from 2010 but somehow I think it will always belong…

…and last but far from least … the entire incredible, magnificent, magic-moment-filled, triumphant My Kind of Christmas Tour… thank you, David!!!!!!!

Quirky? nahhhh Pictures speak a thousand words (almost as eloquently as you do TOfan!)

  2. OMGsh TOfan…I love this 2011 recap! Some made me smile & some made me cry..not because there’s anything sad in there..just the memories that come flooding in! It’s been a good year..an INCREDIBLE 4 years & it’s all because of David & how he has been kind enough to share bits of his life with us. I wonder sometimes if he has a clue how much it means to us. Hope so!

  3. refnaf says:

TOfan, you always outdo yourself…. this is just AWESOME! Pics do say so much> and I am back to listening to his voice but can not do vids yet either….
Some of these pics I had totally forgotten, and the ones you chose describe the year perfectly.
    Will and Kate included *like*

  4. janey79 says:

I nominate this for best recap of 2011.

  5. janey79 says:

Love the girl’s outstretched hand in the Team Airport pic. She’s trying to touch his hand despite big security dude. I hope she was successful.

  6. Heidijoy says:

Love your recap of 2011 in pictures, Tofan!!! Many milestones and happy times.
    Grateful for you!!

  7. Kizzi says:

I was hoping you’d do a year in review TOfan. I always learn from those times I get a chance to look through your eyes. And the things you notice! WOWZA.

My 16 yo granddaughter’s New Year’s Resolution is quite thought provoking not to mention inspirational for me – she said she isn’t going to have a ‘crab mentality.’ When I queried her, she explained it refers to a bucket of crabs, when individually, the crabs could easily climb out of the bucket, they instead pull each other back preventing any from escaping. Eventually they all die. She equated that to supporting her family and friends in their dreams, hopes, wishes, journeys, etc. rather than keeping them in a “safe” place.

Got me to thinking about David’s new direction, leaving one place and going to another following his dream.

Godspeed to all following their dreams, hopes, wishes, and starting new journeys this 2012.

Ah, just love your 2011 review TOan, the best!! Love all the pics, hey a picture says a thousand words (and more when it comes to David). You’ve picked some great amazing moments. So many aspects of David’s wonderful heart and personality…..leading up to that stupendous, magnificent Christmas tour….what memories!!
    I second janey79’s nomination. 🙂

TOfan! Love this! To itsy bitsy teenie weenie pieces!!! Like seriously never stop blogging. Ever. Even if there’s nothing David related to blog about, I will read blogs about your boring everyday life, because I am sure you would make it hilarious!

Honoured that my tweet made your epic list! 😀

And Love the Wills & Kate!

This whole post is just so full of awesome. <3333

    • TOfan says:

aww, thanks, ab, <33333 … but trust me my boring everyday life would not make good blogging material… David on the other hand, is easy peasy! 😆

    • betsy says:

      YES!!! I agree!! I couldn’t love it more. <333
Abanana, I remember (well, it wasn't all that long ago, but anyway lol) we were in the car driving to Verona and I was checking my phone for Tweets and David was @replying like a madman. Then I saw he tweeted you back and I was SO HAPPY! How fun that day was. 🙂
Deb, I've been compiling a list in my head for a few days. Of moments from this past year. Thanks for this. I'd forgotten a lot of them. Another that features large in my memory is David in the yellow shirt singing his new cover/anthem. EWTRTW.
"I take this to my own personal meaning"
Also, how will he get by on cheap cereal for the next 2 years when he's so into the organic Cascadian Farms kind?

      • abanana77 says:

awww thanks bets! That was seriously awesome day! 😀

agree, LOVE EWTRTW. definitely a stand out performance of the year. Funny, I had just watched that video today.

Another awesome moment was D singing the National Anthem at an NHL playoff game. Mike Fisher listening to David sing. David watching Mike Fisher play hockey. Can’t get much better than that!

      • TOfan says:

“I take this to my own personal meaning” … “everybody just kinda wants to rule the world sometimes” ♥ ♥ ♥

  12. TOfan says:

hahahahahahahahaha, SO glad I screencapped this in case David deletes it … totally made my day! 😆

    Jazzy tweet

  13. Heidijoy says:

See you added the boots YEA!!! Hacking makes me nervous, even in fun.

  14. smanda says:

Seemed like happy hacking today 🙂

Tofan – I’m so very glad that you are so very smart and funny. ❤

    • TOfan says:

back atchya, smanda!!! And can I just say how much I love that David (a) Didn’t delete Jazzy’s tweet (or Amber’s, acc. to Agent Banana’s conspiracy theory! 😆 ); and (b) Called her a weirdo. LOLOL

  15. TOfan says:

I stopped reading EW during AI7 (for obvious reasons) but they popped up in my Google alerts this a.m. with the Announcement news and against my better judgment I scanned through the comments… mostly vile, but many supportive, including this one:
I’m grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I served a 2 year mission in Brasil, and got back last July, and it was honestly the coolest thing I ever did. I can speak fluent Portuguese, have hundreds of Brasilian friends, know the places where I
served like the back of my hand, and get messages regularly from the families and individuals that I helped come to know Jesus Christ better. I came to know Jesus Christ better. It brought incredible meaning to my life. We spend much of our days working and earning money, and
that’s fine. But when you spend all of your time serving people, it’s something else. David will be happier for having served as a missionary. He knows because I served with one of his best friends. We were in Brasil together 2 years ago. David knows what he’s doing and he knows he’ll never regret it.”

    …aaaand breaking news!!!
@Ccolwin Got some deets about @DavidArchie’s plans here in the PH soon! Thanks to my friend from TV5!
@officialTIMYAP Good news for DA fans. Heard @DavidArchie is coming to Manila soon to shoot a new TV series w/ @jascurtissmith!

    • Kizzi says:

Interesting tweets TOfan. And sounds like some @DavidArchie entertainment to enjoy down the road, and a different art form to boot.

I saw that comment at EW. In fact, I’ve seen support in commentary all over the web. No matter one’s religion, one can see the beauty of such an act of faith. The great spiritual leaders at the center of each major religion all taught that the good life is impossible without asceticism, the abstinence from various sorts of worldly pleasures with the aim of pursuing religious and spiritual goals.

In fact, it is amazing (and comforting) to see the similarity of the concept across all major religions. And the love of those spiritual leaders and their teachings moves the faithful to spread the word of those teachings, the blessings of such faith, the love and sense of belonging to a group of individuals who hold the same beliefs and to seek salvation and liberation by exercising such restraint in ascetic acts.

Thus the etiology of the expression, I believe, “less is more.” It is pure and it is exquisite, beautiful love.

As far as the haters, I think they are caught up in the judgmental side of religion in that most religions hold, in general, that there is only one way, “their way,” to the Divine One. In my world view, God is Universal and loves all. Any effort, any path chosen, any ascetic action moved by love toward the Divine is “right.”

There are, in my perspective, many pathways to the Divine One. It isn’t about which path is chosen, as it is about seeking the Universal One and setting one’s sights on the journey, taking each step, learning, loving, and growing.

  16. refnaf says:

Lurve the latest tweet hacks> and David calling Jazzy “wierd” too cute!!
Kizzi, let me say ditto to your comment….thank you ❤
TOfan that EW comment from the missionary is very helpful to me too…..good to get all the perspective that I can!

  17. peppertara says:

Kizzi, thank you for your very wise and beautiful words. They really ring true for me too and I have nothing but respect and admiration for David on pursuing the callings of his heart and his spiritual mission. I’m sure this will personally be for him, an amazing experience.
Love the comment you posted TOfan, from the young man who served his mission in Brazil. I can only agree…David does know what he is doing, think he always has known.

Still laughing at the ‘family’ tweet, haha. Quite the poetic writer she is!
David filming a TV series in the Philippines has been circulating for some time now and was wondering if it was all true. Sounds like it probably will be happening! Exciting stuff, David the actor….love it! Doesn’t sound like David will be leaving for a bit. Can’t help but wonder too, if he will be sent to a Spanish speaking country for his mission. Singing to folks in Spanish while inspiring them…..yes, could imagine that.
Until then, sounds like he has some things in store for his fans. 🙂

Oh and glad that you added the boots TOfan, think they deserve to be recognized as a highlight, haha. Personally, loved them! Loved his whole outfit really (or outfits)….and that Me and My Drum photo by Jen Barry….has to be one of my fave photos…ever.

  18. TOfan says:

aww, David & his bro went rock climbing! (why no helmet-cam vlog, David???)
