Best buzz for David Archuleta’s new ‘I’ll Never Go’ mv

Lots of great buzz building for David Archuleta’s new “I’ll Never Go” music video (it’s up to 17,000 views so far already!), but this is my favourite so far … from The Huffington Post “Latino Voices” site:

David Archuleta is back and we couldn’t be more excited!

The 21-year-old soul singer (and “American Idol” season seven runner-up) has just released a new music video for his sensational new love song, “I’ll Never Go,” and this might be Archie’s best song yet!

The new ballad, which is sure to get tons of radio airplay this summer (it’s HOT!), is off David’s fourth studio album “Forevermore,” a collection of original Filipino love songs. (The video for “I’ll Never Go” was filmed in Manila, Philippines).

Archuleta has been out of the spotlight in recent months. In December, the half-Honduran singer surprised his fans with the announcement that he was putting his music career on hold to embark on a two-year Mormon mission. Then in March, David had another surprise for his fans: he announced he was cutting his Bieber-esque locks in favor of a more conservative look. “Just about to go get my haircut for my mission. You have to keep it short and clean, and nicely cut, so I’m going to go do that now,” the singer said at the time.

“Forevermore,” is already available at music stories in the Phillipines and available for digital download here.

What is it about David Archuleta’s singing that makes me drop everything I’m doing and just bask in the beauty of his voice?

This beautiful and sensitive video of David performing “I’ll Never Go” from his Forevermore CD made me do just that. This song lingers with you long after the song is over. David sings this song with heartfelt emotion and gentle artistry.

The clarity of his head voice alone is worth the listen. It is immaculate and perfectly focused at every dynamic level.

The intelligent restraint with which David approaches this song is beautifully envisioned. He has such respect for the lyrics and communicates the message of the song with genuine, impeccable artistry.

He is a role model in so many ways – the excellent manner in which he conducts his personal life, his connection to his Faith, his disciplined and spiritual approach to his music, his devotion to those who support him in his musical journey.

I feel so very privileged to be part of Team David. Thank you David for living your life in your own special way and on your terms. Hopefully, other young singers will be inspired by your journey and attain strength of mind and body to realize their dreams as you have.

David Archuleta’s “I’ll Never Go” video premieres Sunday, 8 p.m. Manila time (8 a.m. ET). Here’s the teaser vid, along with two behind-the-scenes photos from the lovely @kariontour. (@ohmyjoshashley suggests doing THIS with his suitcase 🙂 )

P.S. I admit I’m kind of chuckling to myself that we are so excited to see this video premiere on Sunday, even though we know it will basically be David walking around that room, packing up and staring longingly into the camera.

It’s not as though there will be this twist ending where Anya runs into the room, screams “DON’T GO, JOSH!!!!!” and plants a big wet kiss on him … *fade to black* … sorry, should I have said “spoiler alert”? 😉

What do Nik Wallenda and David Archuleta have in common?

As you can see, I’m fairly lame at making videos, but I couldn’t help myself this time. As crazy as Nik Wallenda’s Niagara-Falls-strolling stunt was this weekend, it thrilled me no end and, yes, inspired me, too.

Isn’t his feat exactly what life’s all about? … oh, and David Archuleta’s song, as well … to keep putting one foot in front of the other until you get where you need to go?

I heard some news commentators speculating that all those thousands of people turned up to watch (with many more thousand tuning in online and on TV) to see if he’d fall. I don’t think that’s why they were watching at all.

I’d like to think they were rooting for him… and ultimately for ourselves… to defy the odds and make it to the other side … of down. 🙂

Full disclosure: When I first heard “I’ll Never Go,” the first thought that popped into my head was “LIAR!!!!!!”

Now that I’ve had time to accept, well, reality, I’ve come to love the song.

And since David said the whole “Forevermore” album was for the fans, I take his choosing this track to mean that even though he is far away from us, he’s left this music, this part of himself, here with us all.

Not gonna lie though, the quick closeup of the suitcase at the end of this teaser clip did this to me.

How about you guys? What were your first impressions of “I’ll Never Go”?

David Archuleta’s hidden iTunes gems (really)

Last night I had this impulse to take a peek on iTunes to see if Forevermore had snuck back on there. It hadn’t.

What I did find, however, was more than I bargained for.

I discovered a gold mine of David Archuleta tracks out there that I never knew existed. Not new songs, but David’s “Crush” and “A Little Too Not Over You” adapted for some very interesting collections. Collections, in fact, that tell a very cool story….

Once upon a time there was a teen who wanted to combine her love of “Crush” with the beauty of classical music… clearly inspired by David’s Central Park busking phase….

David Archuleta may be on a mission for the next 2 years or so, but he hasn’t forgotten about the people back home. He recently shared a vlog (that he filmed before going away on his mission) where he talks about his future as a whole and his life. He isn’t one to shy away from making vlogs as regular updates for her Archies to follow him around and to see what he is up to. He clearly did not want to lose his connection to his fan base and has been working hard to follow through with what he believes in. It may feel like a long 2 years, but we all know that he is planning to make his official come back worth it all.

I know a lot of people are proud of David and we all should be. He is doing something that he has strong convictions in and has been done by others for years. It is a nice touch that clearly proves fame and success has not changed him. He should be happy to know that his fans indeed have not abandoned him and will not. They seem ready to stand tall and hold on to every tidbit that his manager shares of this exciting time for David. It should help make for some interesting interviews and music alike from David soon enough. All we need to do is offer our support and compassion for his big heart.

Are you glad that he pre-filmed this video? I am, it was a nice surprise by him. I think we all already knew how important we are to him, but I don’t know how many of us were prepared for how much he was going to miss us. It seems like his life has changed a whole lot since his stint on American Idol and I guess in a lot of ways he has become more popular than he thought.

However, they are being great about his current mission and I am sure that will only grow their bond with him even more. No doubt he will always make sure that he will not let down his fans, like they haven’t let him down. So I will close this out with a major applause for David and his passion for people in general.
