What do Nik Wallenda and David Archuleta have in common?

As you can see, I’m fairly lame at making videos, but I couldn’t help myself this time. As crazy as Nik Wallenda’s Niagara-Falls-strolling stunt was this weekend, it thrilled me no end and, yes, inspired me, too.

Isn’t his feat exactly what life’s all about? … oh, and David Archuleta’s song, as well … to keep putting one foot in front of the other until you get where you need to go?

I heard some news commentators speculating that all those thousands of people turned up to watch (with many more thousand tuning in online and on TV) to see if he’d fall. I don’t think that’s why they were watching at all.

I’d like to think they were rooting for him… and ultimately for ourselves… to defy the odds and make it to the other side … of down. 🙂

You’re right TOfan, keep putting one foot in front of the other for sure, Will get you to the other side of down. Such a great song by the way! One of my faves off that album. Actually made me nervous watching that guy walk the tightrope. With David’s list of adventures he’d like to try, I’m glad he hasn’t put that one on his list!!
Kudos to Nik Wallenda though, wow, takes a heck of a lot of courage (and practice and confidence). Whoa.

Hmmm……that was me (peppertara). Not sure why it says anonymous. Must be something I did.

Ok, still didn’t get it right, that was me again, peppertara, haha. Must be my new computer. Guess I have to set it up again correctly, lol.

Wowzers TOfan and very cool vid!!!!! I agree…. this is inspiring to see!!! I had wanted to watch Wallenda do it live but was not able>> cool to watch with David’s TOSOD here this morning!!!!

Great analogy with video and TOSOD, TOfan. :O And Wallenda definitely was placing his steps carefully on that stroll to avoid the “down” part of that amazing feat. Guess he has some “Zero Gravity” going on too, eh? 😀

      And on an aside:

I expected a lot more angst and a sense of a looming void during this hiatus. Not so.

Of course David has left us with a periodic flow, albeit in dribs and drabs, of his artistry…pictures, videos, song…and even some 2nd hand tweets. That’s so freaking amazing, so deliciously GOOD to have that level of communication.

It also helps that many of his fan sites have maintained a sense that they will function in perpetuity. Like SnowAngelz and the talented TOfan who shares her own journey and insights via this blog. It’s a bolus of hope, wrapped in sunshine, inside a solid dose of reality during this two-year hiatus.

And, I am (finally) getting really good at staying away from the naysayers. The amount of unadulterated crap, self perception, that is spun as truth is freaking unbelievable. Misleading drama trauma is such a waste of life. When I look at those who dwell on the underbelly of what is for the most part, a self-gratifying, fictitious accounting of the ‘downs’ of David’s career and choices, I get revved up and my ‘right the wrong’ kicks in. Arggggh and Ack. *slaps self*

So, for this uber cyber fan, basking in the solid reality of upside of all that is available while David is away from his career floats my boat down the river of time. Guess I am choosing my steps carefully too.

      Thanks TOfan and SnowAngelz.

Canadians rock the David fan scene, big time!

Naysayer Smackdown! I could go on and on about this very thing. Unfortunately that’s my style. Your style is succinct and eloquent at the same time. This was perfectly put. Thank you.

        “naysayer smackdown” FTW!!! 😆 … I love a good discussion/debate, “drama trauma” not so much … Kizzi 4 P.M.!!! :)))))

  7. Like TOSOD!! Video depicting the feat of Wallends with the song in the background is GREAT!! Woo Hoo!! 🙂

Nice vid TOfan! I could not watch it live (didn’t really want to either), but now that I know he’s made it across safely, I enjoyed watching you video. Totally the best song for that a tightrope walking video 🙂

  9. emmegirl14 says:

THAT was pretty amazing. No way I could watch it live either.

    Kizzi, thanks for your “aside.”
You say it all so well.

tofan, appreciating EWTRTW gif – I still listen to that version almost everyday. 🙂

A very thoughtful post, TOfan; meaning I have thought about it a great deal. You are right. We don’t show up to watch people fail, but to win, to overcome, and to cheer them on for taking needed risks to reach a goal. Wallenda’s feat is a perfect tie-in to David’s song. Many lessons for life here.

Newsflash!!! New “I’ll Never Go” teaser vid!!!!! (not gonna lie, when he started to close the suitcase, I lost it 😥 ) … did we figure out the time difference yet for 8 p.m. Manila time? lol

From Ivory Music’s FB page HERE (if you care to go “like” it 🙂 )

Manila is twelve hours ahead of the East Coast.
