As I might have shared here, ahem, a few times, I am still truly, madly, deeply in love with the Postcards in Disguise ( 🙂 ) title track.
So much so, that I didn’t want to write a post about it and ruin the “magic,” if that makes any sense.
But luckily a lovely David friend (who prefers to remain anonymous), shares my love for Postcards and was okay with me posting our recent convo… (before our hopes were dashed that it would be the subject of David’s new video… no worries, I’m good with Seasons, it’s a gorgeous song, with beautiful harmonies, one of my faves on the album, so it’s all good… I mean, hey, with David, it literally IS all good, am I right?? 🙂 )
But I digress, here’s our convo about the title track… (that’s my avi on the right, btw 🙂 ):
Here’s David explaining the meaning and the story behind the song before letting loose with it (thanks, Muldur, for the amazing video!!!)… LOOOOVE everyone singing along at the end!!!
and his epic Nashville performance because Nashville…
How about you guys?? What are your thoughts about the title track??
p.s.
*all the praise hands*

My favorite first line in the history of songs. And in the running for my favorite lyric ever.— rhiminee (@rhiminee) January 22, 2018

Go check out Tina’s Tumblr post HERE on David’s epic gym-parking lot Insta stories. You’re most welcome.
Gosh this is perfect!!! I love PiTS SO MUCH!
Your convo is soooo discriptive of what the song does and is!! His voice and the lyrics are sooo good, thankful that you can get it down in writing!!! THANK YOU!!!
I was quite surprised by the Seasons vid, but def agree, ITS ALL GOOD!!!!
Deb, your convo said it ALL ~ I can’t think of much to add, honestly. I DO want to take the opportunity to just say how much I appreciate this album, knowing how hard David worked on it for us & most of all, how content and confident he appears to be in his life. He deserves every happy moment and more!

Oh this really is a great post about the title track. Love it, I also love the song. Have loved it from first listen. So much beauty in that song, the melody, the powerful chorus which just grabs me completely, the wonderful lyrics and of course the extra beauty in that voice.
Must say I thought this song might be the new video song too but as you say it’s all good, so good. Every song could have a video from that album! Perhaps David chose “Seasons” so he could showcase Madilyn’s lovely talent too….cuz he is just that kind of guy. Beautiful song, love it too.
As for PCITS, it’s one that I play a lot, it just has that warm, inspiring, ethereal, magical quality for me.
Love the convo about this Deb, sometimes words fail in our description (at least for me at times) this was perfect and spot on!
this is the loveliest of posts. i will admit PiTS was not a favorite nor one that stood out. but as those of you who know me best, my least fave almost always turns out to be my favorite. in no way was PiTS my least and it’s not yet my fave, but i’m working on it. i also truly madly love it when other folks love songs or productions of David’s that i don’t. it tells me he is on the right track and has undeniable wide appeal. i will also add this post has given me new perspective on the song. i will give it another listen now. and of course, none of this pertains to the live performances. there isn’t a song he does live that i don’t completely adore.
deb, if you’re feelin’ more appreciation posts, i vote yes.
GAHHHHHH … David’s latest Insta stories totally freaked me out… I can’t even put eye drops in my own eyes, hahaha.

I am so wishing him well with this contacts stuff. I couldn’t do it. I tried to wear soft contacts back in college and I just HATED taking them out. Pinching them. *shudder* Yeah, David you looked extremely good in those glasses–wear ’em!
Wonderful conversation you shared, Deb. I am so in awe at the depth with which some fans can express themselves about the way the music makes them, feel, think, understand phasing and key and the lyrics. Tipping my hat to you.
Also “Postcards in Disguise” is a close second to “And you disco with the flow …”.
