omigosh you guys… this 2018 David is my favourite David of all time and that’s saying something because 2017 David was pretty high up there on my list.
Just seeing him so happy and excited to share what he’s working on and where’s he’s working and with whom, but knowing how to keep the boundaries he needs to have a private life … but also finding a way to remain his humble self while also putting himself out there so confidently so that more people can hear this incredible new music and find out where to get tickets for his amazing new shows… it’s just almost too much for me.
But hey, I have a stockpile of B-12, so I will find a way to deal. 🙂
One of the 381320381920 VIP questions that I didn’t get to ask at the last shows was about what the songwriting process was like for him and then BAM… wish granted!
When he talked about writing the pep talk that maybe he needed himself, whoah, he’s just so open and honest, it shouldn’t take me by surprise any longer but it still does.
And it’s so cool to “meet” some of the people he’s been working with and to see what a relaxed, supportive vibe they have with one another and how much they recognize and respect his talent.
And he’s just so generous to shine a light on their contribution and how much they work as a team. I can’t even think of any other solo artists who do that. Can you??? Have never been prouder to be a fan of his, truly.

“I’m very into culture; I’m very interested in learning about other arts and cultures. … I would say for anyone else who’s interested in learning about the arts and the cultures, or if they are from Chinese culture and want to reconnect to their culture, I would recommend to come and see the show.
“Another thing that I [enjoyed] learning about was the values of the Chinese traditions throughout history. Like I said, I loved the spiritual connections with the heavens and with God. I thought those were really beautiful things. It’s not just about the arts and how it looks; it’s about helping people learn and to connect spiritually as well.
“The singer, I thought she had a very strong voice. I thought she had a very beautiful tone as well, and I thought the message was very touching. … I didn’t realize how much spirituality was in the Chinese culture.”

I think this is a great post, I agree heartily and 2018 is off to a great start! Love all of it….Facebook live, Insta stories, “collabing” with great songwriters and David sharing it all. Wowza….new Christmas album, and more music, new music video, wonderful stuff. I don’t know of any other solo artists who shine a light so wonderfully on their collaborators either. Of course I don’t follow anyone elee’s career like I do David’s. 🙂

I loved David’s Facebook Live and just the way he is now promoting his music. I also love how happy he seems and all the music that is to come. Wow, three new music projects hopefully released this year and a new music video this week. The drought is OVER! Next month the touring begins again. Yep, he is doing music as a career and working hard at it!

I gotta say that “teamwork” David…honoring others’ contributions to any of his work…has alway been who he is…been noting that since Idol days. (Not saying anyone else here hasn’t noticed that as well…just sayin’…that’s who he’s always been and it’s cool.)
As I said on the last thread…I’m so glad too he’s found his balance. I think he struggled with lots from the business end and the fan-world/fame end…but has found, as you said, a way to set those boundaries so that he now feels free to just do music and life, in a more sane, happy, David-driven way. It’s a natrual human desire I think…not just a David thing, to want that…he just had an extreme un-balance due to fame. I think a lot of us were rooting for that for us and him too…as he struggled…but only he could find his way to that on his terms. Glad he did.

You’re so right, amb4da, David’s always been great about acknowledging the talents and contributions of others… what seems a little different now, to me, anyways, is that before he often seemed to be “shifting” the credit to others, feeling embarrassed to take any for himself… but now, he seems to have found a balance with that too… pointing out who helped create the finished songs while “owning” that they are undeniably HIS songs… if that makes sense.

So Mr. Busypants apparently went to a performance of Shen Yun in Nashville last night, after recording, and afterwards, sang “The Moon Represents My Heart” to the host staff in Chinese… I added an interview with him about it to the end of the post… looks like he took his hat off for the occasion. 😆
“Why, yes, I am about to blow your socks off by singing in Chinese.”
I’ve heard that Shen Yun is really beautiful to see, how nice that David attended the show and had such nice things to say about it. He sang for them too? It really amazes me how he can sing a song in another language that he doesn’t speak or sing in very often. He must have the song, pronunciation and meaning memorized so well and that combined with his apparent natural ability to pick up different languages in song so beautifully and masterfully makes him a pro at it. I just add that to the list of his many great feats. 🙂
