‘Twas 16 nights after Christmas and all through the street
Not a smidge of David news, not even an inspirational tweet
The fans kept on checking and lurking with care
In the hopes that more concert dates soon would be there
The fans were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of new music danced in their heads
And Katsu in her fur and David in yet another new cap
Had just settled in for a long winter’s nap
When suddenly on YouTube there arose such a clatter
I sprang into my chair to see what was the matter
Away to the desktop I flew like a flash
Smacked it out of sleep mode till my whole system crashed
I rebooted quick to see why folks were so riled
And saw a sight scarier than Shay Carl’s smile
What to my wondering eyes was then shown?
But a blast from the past trying to drum up fans of his own
The silence from central command was absolute
But we’ve waited before, we’re nothing if not resolute
We know David’s busy, that hint can’t be missed
He had 6,4269 items on his alphabetized New Year’s resolution list
Yet here we will sit trying not to go numb
Awaiting the day new music will come
Now singing! Now salsa dancing! Sasschuleta, it’s time
On soundchecks! On rehearsals! On studio time!
To the top of the stage! To the top of the charts!
No pressure at all! 🙂 Just follow your heart!
And what of Idol rumours that someday D. will be on?
They’re hard to believe — my conspiracy theory’s still strong
All I can say is, if they snub him again
They’re bigger idiots than I thought, and my thoughts are quite grand
He and Cookie could sing a duet, ratings would soar
Cheers they would get, crowds would scream “MORE!”
So this is the end of my cheesy post-Christmas tale
A New Year brings new possibilities, that’s what my fortune cookie says
So let’s raise a glass — of water or Sprite
