I take back everything I said on the last thread… finally was able to download this and am blown away by how beautiful it is. I think his voice overwhelmed me on the first listen so I didn’t really “hear” the song itself, if that makes sense.
I know it’s for church youth (at least I think that’s what “EFY” is) but I think this song could be about so many different things… about a higher power, sure, but about a teacher or grandfather or friend. Anyway, gorgeous gorgeous vocals we haven’t really heard quite like this before. A soulful tenderness with new depths? K, I’m just rambling now, lol.
Now I know why this rose fainted on D’s lapel while he sang. 🙂
lol yes we are all like that rose when we here his voice
Ah yes, the rose knows. And more than one fan has wilted at the sound of that voice.
EFY (Especially for Youth) is a week of fun seminars and social activities for LDS teens, held on the BYU campus. David attended in 2006 as a 15-year old and participated in the talent show where he knocked ‘em dead with his then version of “Angels.”
“soulful tenderness with new depths” –That’s what I hear in this new song too.
this one?? wow!!
Haha, the fainting rose, can you blame it? Your explanation about hearing the song the first time does make sense TOfan. Really is beautiful and the lyrics really can be applied the way you described them…and the voice, well it still gets to me as much as it always did and that “soulful tenderness” is spot on.
I think over the years I have run out of words to describe that golden voice that seems to stand alone. A lovely song and beautifully sung.
Wowza. To infinity and beyond is where his soulful performances take me and this is one of ’em. If that and getting to know everyone in the SAz universe is the sum total of this experience, then I’ve gotten a whole lot more than I dared to wish for. But I’ve got a feeling that there is much more to come…the icing on a most bountiful cake.
Happy Monday all!
EFY is Especially For Youth held in places for LDS Youth all over the world. The more well known one is at BYU though. This is a beautiful heartfelt song. I love the words, I love the music, I love the gorgeous tone in his voice.
More than just the rose is wilting over here….that voice, this song…simply gorgeous! And I totally agree the song could mean many things…I’m in love with it! Off to hit repeat….again😊❤️
I couldn’t agree with you more. The lyrics plus David’s vocals make for a beautiful song although I loved it on the very first listen. I think we are in for a real treat when David finally releases the album he has been working on since I came home from his mission.
His voice on this song makes me ecstatic at the thought of his new music!!! What he does is absolutely beautiful!! I feel like he is quietly working away and will someday soon BLOW US AWAY! eeeeeeeeeeeeeep
As for the lyrics… They really could be about other kinds of love, not only about Christ…. It is all in your perspective!
I still agree with my prediction, made to a very skeptical eatery owner in Pittsburgh, that David will be remembered as the best singer in his generation.
Deb–I missed you in real time yesterday as a bunch of us had a really fun, funny time on Twitter talking about the phantom concert and what merch we could sell. Convo on FOD today. Reminded me of how much fun I can have there. 😀
aww, sorry I missed that, ms. b.! ❤
I had a funny dream last night with a brand new David song in it, I just wish I could remember it, lol… a bunch of us heard him singing it from another room in a recording studio and just as he was about to come in and join us, I woke up. hahaha
Have been listening to HSMH a lot and that bridge is a killer, some of the most beautiful sounds he's ever made, I'd say.
