Just watched this new video from The Castro Band.
Besides David, Jason & Brooke were my S7 faves and always hoped the 3 of them would tour together at some point.
Really like The Castro Band’s sound (I’m a sucker for harmonies) and with his dreads cut off, Jason and David could be brothers. (Didn’t Jason say in an interview once that David reminded him of himself when he was younger?)
Anyhoo, check it out, catchy feel-good song. Talented family.

Reviewing Archuleta’s debut single in Billboard, Chuck Taylor called it, “a hummable, age-appropriate midtempo pop ditty for the 17-year-old, showcasing his fine mass-appeal vocal stylings with creamy harmonies and some nice falsetto effects.” The single debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100, a thrill for the long-time fan of the charts, who admitted he became “obsessed” with “The Billboard Book of Number One Hits” and “Billboard’s Hottest Hot 100 Hits” when he was 13. “There was a point where I read the books so much, people would ask me what was the number one song of this year or what was the number one song on their birthday,” says Archuleta. “I discovered a lot of songs that way, songs I hadn’t heard before. I didn’t even know ‘One Sweet Day’ until I saw it in the book. It was No. 1 for 16 weeks. Those are very influential books to me.”
For such a chart geek, it must have meant the world to David to be on the charts himself with Crush. And I can’t believe that still isn’t important to him at some level. Beyond singing, he’s demonstrated a real talent for melody (ZG, TOSOD, and most recently Broken, Nunca Pense) so I hope that gets him back on the charts again whenever he’s ready.
I wonder if he could do a medley of a line from each of the Billboard #1’s. What a beautifully done history of contemporary music that would be!

Things I didn’t know…… “Angels” charted 89 on Nov 15, 2008 and “Imagine” charted 36th on June 7, 2008 and “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” was 58th and “In This Moment” was 60th and those last three were one week on the chart while Crush was 23 weeks on the Hot 100. http://www.billboard.com/artist/300395/david-archuleta/chart
