You are the song playing so softly in my heart

tumblr_m5she0Kh3d1qdt1xjo1_1280CropA David friend asked me an interesting question yesterday … “Have you listened to David today and if so, which song/songs? Just curious :)”

My first response was, “Have you met me???”

And then I thought back to my bus ride home from work (when I spend quality time with my iPod) and remembered I’d listened to Sara Bareilles’ new album (sorry, David), followed by Beautiful, SOWK (love that one), Broken, Pride, True Colors, Don’t Give Up, then HAD to hear The Prayer (maybe you know the feeling?).

Why did I choose those songs? The first batch are my faves from BEGIN. and then I wanted to listen to something I hadn’t heard in a while. I was actually looking for “No Me Queda Mas” but turns out I don’t have it in my playlist (#fanfail). But when I saw The Prayer, BAM I needed to hear it.

When his voice soars at the “Sognamo un mondo senza più violenza” verse I literally have to put my hand over my heart like my mom does when listening to opera… now I know why she does that… ’cause it feels like it could burst out of my chest.

Hope no one on the bus noticed that, lol.

Soooooo, I put that question to you guys … what David songs did you listen to today? (Or yesterday) … and why those ones?

P.S.

In honour of the Crush Anniversary, just had to post this … I was blessed to be there at Ford Day when D. sang this live for the first time … he was SO nervous and then of course knocked it out of the park… “that was fun for me *giggles* how about you guys?” 😆

Indeedy I have listened to David! Not today (because I’ve been at work all day, where there’s a sad lack of any music) but yesterday I listened to:

Everything & More — live version from Kuala Lumpur …multiple times. because yes.
Crazy — live version from CASBAA
Gotta Get Thru This — live version from Manila (are we sensing a theme here?? lol)
    Heart Falls Out
    Works For Me
This version of O Holy Night from Santiago:

I know, I know, it’s not even the full song but it’s still my favorite vid of that performance. I think because of the sound the girl taking the video makes when he hits THE NOTE. Because that’s me at every David concert ever.

And I think that might have been it for yesterday. Kind of a really random assortment of songs lol.

hahaha, I’ve never noticed that before! lolol “Because that’s me at every David concert ever” … same. 😆

And I watched this today ‘cuz you posted it on your Tumblr:

And you’re right, great comments on that vid:

“You know that somebody is an amazingly gifted singer when you totally forget that
he doesn’t even have music backing him up. Beautiful gift.”

      and
“this is my favorite hairstyle for david 🙂 it’s like you can run your fingers through it and make little twirls :)))”
      hahahahaha

Sometimes Youtube comments are like the most precious gold. I also enjoy the fact that you get to hear what casual or nonfans think. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE TWIRLS OK.

Driving north for 3.5 hrs yesterday, I listened to my cd of the New Albany concert. Several times.
The day before, The Prayer. Many times.
Like more times than is normal.
    Wait, what’s normal lol?

Oh I love listening to the Prayer, so exquisite (and Spanish OHN, absolutely one of my faves, listen to it all the time, stunning). Actually today I listened to NMHF album on the way to work and coming home I listened to the Begin album. I can comfortably get through a David album on the way to work and then again travelling home. Works For Me just fine. Another reason I ❤ David…..his music definitely eases my rush hour travel stress!
Love the title of this post and love the question your friend asked. Guess it's par for the course when it comes to David's music, can't remember the last day I didn't listen to David's music. Perhaps when out of town I may have missed the odd day here and there. Doesn't happen often though. 🙂

    Happy Crushiversary! 🙂

Yesterday I listened to WOTWTC (with Jeff LeBlanc), Sounds of Silence from the Invisible Children event, and the songs David sang at that post Idol party a few years ago (Gotta Be, Hey Soul Sister and If I Could Only Be). So interesting to hear what others are listening to.

    Lol. Busted!

“Shop Around”…seriously B.A.D. …. I put in my request of more like this in the future. Ya’ hear Mr. Archuleta?

“Bubbly” in Pittsburgh (unforgettable) and “Barriers” in Del Mar (oh the eyebrows), “Don’t Let Go” in Glasgow ( the passion), “Zero Gravity” (the dancing and working the crowd) in Sunrise, “Silent Night” at MoTab (spiritual and taking one to celestial heights.)

How’d we get to be so lucky?!?!?!?!

Gah, next year I will be in heaven when concerts are happening. I need a tee shirt that proclaims: “ODD and Proud!” Hahahaha!

  8. Archugeezer says:

Love the t-shirt idea, Kizzi! 🙂

I am all over the place listening to David’s songs. If somebody tweets a link to one for any reason, I am there, like it’s my social media responsibility. I am never disappointed.

Lately, of my own volition, I have gone back to David’s first CD. “Crush” is there of course, but so are a lot of other gems. I listen with renewed appreciation for what he did right out of the gate, partly for the memories (WE MISS YOU, DAVID!!!! [silent scream]) and partly to revel in his vocal prowess.

    New post/thread!

I can’t believe how many of you are also listening to The Prayer everyday. I do it every night before I go to bed. Since it was part of the Christmas concert on his mission, I figured I was the only one listening to it in mid-summer. I’d like to see him record it with Ms Lopez. They sound good together.
