‘Twas the night before the night before Christmas and all through Sac concert hall
Not a zipper was stirring, not one, none at all
The songs were sung by the performers with care
In hopes that no wardrobe malfunctions would soon be there
But in the in-ear mic there arose such a clatter
David looked off-stage to see what was the matter
Away to his pants he flew like a flash
For flash he wished not to do, that would be rash
A prank, perhaps, for the very last show?
Why no! Kari insisted, no no no no no
For she has David’s back (and clearly also his front)*
She thought he’d check quietly but David was blunt
Had Zero Gravity overtaken? The fastener needing to be mended??
Giving “opening night” a new meaning, one not intended??
Pray tell, no, ’twas just the light… an optical illusion
There was no prank after all, no final-show collusion
And then, in a twinkling, we heard David laugh
A sound that rivals his songs, not even by half
His mirth overfloweth, his spirits run high
He is quick on his feet, and good on the fly
David sprang to his mic, shared his Voice and his craft
Disaster was averted, he felt no sudden drafts
And play well they all did, fastened up for the night,
Singing “Merry Christmas to all! And to all a good night!”

Oh! I love it!!! 🙂 What an imagination, TOfan!! Man, I just can’t even imagine if it had been a real ‘happening’ for David!! What would he have really done?! He handled it, as it was, pretty smoothly though. I wonder if Nathan was kind of in on it, too. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least! 😀

Oh my……so good TOfan, haha. Very creative and right on, lol. When I saw that part on the video or periscope, I cracked up. David is so funny and classy about it all. I think if it had been a real happening he would have very politely excused himself from the stage for a moment and corrected the problem and then returned, lol.

Actually, I was not only there, I was seated just behind David’s aunt and The Harv was right behind his mother. This cut down on conversation, like no “David has 10 times the stage presence of Nathan” (didn’t want that to get back to anyone, even though it’s true). A couple of times I admit to looking at Lupe to see if I should laugh.
We were all seated to the left of center. This is important because you can see the fly opens that direction. And we could see (gasp!) the Zipper Pull. Shiny! ‘Twasn’t down, nonono, but David is so careful about how he appears that I’m guessing that he would have fixed that wrinkle had he been offstage.
As it was, due to Kari’s “prank” and David’s unflappable response, I can tell you that there was no opening night all the way to the end of the encores. Shiny! But secure.
