Let’s go on a roadtrip

Let’s grab our concert tickets, pack our bags and hit the road.

Let’s crank up TOSOD, drive the roads never taken and get there with minutes to spare.

Let’s motor through snowstorms, hail and sleet to get where we need to go.

Let’s share a ride with best friends we’ve never met and speak a language only we understand.

Let’s savour every second because we never know when we’ll get this chance again.

Let’s tell our bosses … nothing… and thank family members for humouring our insanity.

Let’s get lost in the wilds of New Jersey and eat American cheese in vinyl-boothed diners.

Let’s take cab rides with guys who point out the bullet holes in the driver’s seat.

Let’s stand in sub-zero weather until we can’t feel our feet.

Let’s see how many people we can fit into one hotel room.

Let’s laugh and laugh. And laugh.

Let’s feel nauseous right up till the music starts.

Let’s scream our throats raw.

Let’s make him understand.

Let’s never sit down again.

Let’s choke back the lump in our throat.

Let’s remember to breathe.

Let’s steal this moment right away from time.

Let’s go. Who’s with me?

P.S. 🙂

ohmygoodness ohmygoodness am I the only one who’s never seen this vid?? THIS is what road trips are all about, my friends….

  6. Let’s decide last minute to go to our third concert in 3 days even though we won’t be able to sit together and even though we’ll have to drive all day to get there and even though we’ll have to drive all night to get back in time to catch our flights to go home. Worth. Every. Single. Second. ♥

I’m with you! *fires up the DA Touring Van* Cannot wait for these again! Gosh you described the excitement well! Let’s fly to Boston, drive a behemoth rental vehicle to Albany and back then ride in a van with a maniac for a driver to NYC and fly home from there! Crank up the tunes!

  8. sunny says:

Can’t wait until we can do all of these things again!! ❤

  9. CADTHU says:

Pick me, pick me! -hands up waving wildly. Miss that guy and definitely the excitement of the road trips. With that new Canadian proposed charge on international acts playing in Canada will we ever get D to come up here??!?!?!???

  10. Anonymous says:

    That was wonderful to read..Thanks!

  11. peppertara says:

Like CADTHU I was thinking the same thing…..what? Higher charges on International music acts?? Did not like that news, don’t want anything in any way to deter DA from coming here!!
This Road trip blog sounds pretty wonderful TOfan. Don’t know where I will be travelling to next to see David but traveling I’m sure I will be, at some point.
Oh I’m sure most everyone has had some very interesting, fabulous and unexpected adventures on previous road trips…. and all so worth it!

    ME! ME! ME! ME! ME!

  13. Archugeezer says:

That was some serious (and lovely) road trip poetry. I’m with you.

Am I ever longing for a David Archuleta concert and the accompanying fan mingling! Maxine, my driving machine, is at the ready. Potato truck on standby.

  14. amb4da says:

Aw…I love this post. I’m so there with ya!! I feel the pre-concert butterflies already! LOL. Simple and to the point your post brings to mind vivid memories of similar & relatable fan experiences all across David’s tour stops. TOfan, I’m thinking we may have been standing in that same line with our “frozen toes” at Pearl St. theater in Northampton, MA, having “braved sleet & snow?”…that was my first DA solo show and still one of my favorite memories! 🙂 Yeah~I’m up for this virtual road-trip, ’til we all can hit the road for real again!

  15. VeeBee123 says:

<3333 never been to a David concert, but an experience like the one you described is right up at Number 1 of my bucket list 🙂

  16. sweetonda says:

I’ll have my car fueled up and serviced, my 5 CD changer loaded with DA music (well, that’s already done) and my change jars cashed in and ready when we hear about that first concert! I can’t wait to get on the road again and see David in concert. Seeing all my David friends will be like the cherry on top!!!

Deb, this brings back such great memories! 2014 can’t come soon enough!

  17. betsy says:

Deb, you with your gift of words, has made this wait so much easier. You gem, you. ❤

  18. tammi says:

like VeeBee123 i haven’t been to one yet either but reading this almost makes me feel like i have lol. on the top of my list too! 🙂

  19. rooster says:

    have to agree with betsy

  20. davidarchiefan4life says:

Oh my, this post has made me very impatient to hear The Voice live again. “Is it 2014 yet?” 🙂

And noticed your Just ‘Cuz message-happy anniversary Snowangelz! Time certainly does fly, doesn’t it? 🙂

  21. peppertara says:

Happy 4th Anniversary! I remember when I discovered SnowAngelz back then and was grateful for this site and was so impressed by your writing, still am! One of the first things I saw on this site was your beautiful write up on David’s Contigo performance, will never forget it TOfan.
I also remember when I first saw David 4 yrs ago, the sweet 18 yr old that he was. When he returns he will be an incredible young man, much to look forward to. 🙂

    • TOfan says:

Thanks so much, pepp! Your comments often make my day! <333 And thanks for reminding me about Contigo… I recently discovered that the mp3 is missing from my iPod (is on my old one, I guess)… NOT acceptable! lol That might have been the very first post, actually. I just remember being blown away by how p.e.r.f.e.c.t. it was. … you're so right, much to look forward to! 🙂

  22. TOfan says:

Off-topic, but I just happened to be reading the comments on a MKOP video and almost all of them on this particular one said that they were there because of a story called “A Unique Kind of Love” (with characters named Lena and Liam) on Wattpad (an online community for writers).

Wellllll, thanks to trusty google, I found out that it’s a story by a young Canadian writer (ForeverSmiling99) who titled her last chapter “My Kind of Perfect” and even embeds David’s youTube on that page. And this story is HUGE on Wattpad … almost 5.5 MILLION reads already! Just thought I’d share. 🙂

    Check out her story HERE.

(PLUS, just added a VIP vid I’d never seen to the end of the post… love D’s directions to Mark on piano at the beginning… you tell’m boss! 🙂 )

    • emmegirl14 says:

I get so excited with this kind of exposure – people just stumbling on to him and appreciating his music.

….now, about the VIP video….wow!! One of his most moving and heartfelt performances.

  23. Penny (dangitdavid) says:

LOVE THIS POST!!! I’ve only been to one David concert and I’m so ready to join the road trip band wagon!! Packing my bags now and will be ready and waiting :)))).

  24. peppertara says:

Wow, that VIP Video is gorgeous! Missed that one too and sorry that I missed him singing that live…GP/Let It Be, one of my faves and sung so beautifully….and then some.
Gee wasn’t familiar with Wattpad. Interesting find about MKOP, noticed that one of the chapters is also called Broken. 🙂

  25. bebereader says:

I’m ready, willing and able for that roadtrip, TOfan! haha Loved your spot-on descriptions of us when we’re in full tour mode! I had never seen that GP/Let It Be either! Best blending of the two songs EVER! Happy 4th Anniversary! Love your site! #DA2014
