Before I head to the airport back to my own hooooome sweet hooooooome, I wanted to post real quick to let you guys know how amAZing the AZ crowd was last night.
F.a.v.o.u.r.i.t.e…c.r.o.w.d..e.v.e.r… that I’ve been part of, anyway.
When Refnaf, Kizzi and I (and another fan from Toronto who we’d never met before! … more on that in another post 🙂 ) arrived at the Gilbert Town Hall venue, the crowd looked a little sparse. But 2+ hours of patriotic speeches, pledges, opening acts who hurt my ears and skydivers (very cool) later, and I looked back and the audience had swelled to what looked like the 10,000 mentioned by the MC at the opening of the show.
And in case you thought they were just really huge fans of the Constitution ( 😉 ), I saw so many David shirts and fans of all ages, races, genders, whole families, it was PACKED.
Everytime the announcer mentioned David’s name the whole crowd erupted in screams and there were no less then four DA-VID! DA-VID! DA-VID! chants throughout the night. Including at the very end when he left after Crush and they immediately started playing music and flashing an image of the Statue of Liberty on the big screen to make sure we knew he wasn’t coming back out for an encore (it looked like he would’ve like to but ran out of time before the fireworks started) … but everyone chanted anyway!!!!!! And then KA-BOOM!!!! Fireworks! Every David concert needs to end with fireworks I think, lol.
The love from that crowd poured onto the stage and warmed my heart. And it was a respectful crowd. Sitting for the patriotic songs (which gave this Canuck chills, baby , chills, btw) but then leaping to their feet for TOSOD, ALTNOY, SBL, Complain (soulful grooovitude to the max, probably my fave of the night, along with …) Elevator (wow, amazing sing-a-long for Elevator, LOOOOOVED that!!!).
The audience never wavered either when the stage went dark (something wrong with the lights) and David carried on with the song and then did some shadow puppets on the big screen when the lights came back on (please let that be captured on video!).
… anyway, more later (hopefully from Ms. Kiz!!! etc.) … wish you could’ve all been there to hear that amazing crowd… oh, and David. 🙂
The Other Side of Down … when the lights went out on David (Jonerzz)

“The audience never wavered either when the stage went dark (something wrong with the lights) and David carried on with the song and then did some shadow puppets on the big screen when the lights came back on (please let that be captured on video!).” <<–Ohhh yes please!! 🙂

Hoping for video, as well.
Awesome recap, TOfan! The crowd sounds awesome!! Can’t believe you had time to recap between flying, going to the concert, sleeping and flying again, lol but really appreciate it! Caught the second half on the live stream and sounded like a great concert!
Agreeing with Trish here, LOVE the title!!! 🙂
I can’t believe I had the time either, abanana!!!! We are dragging you to a Christmas Tour show btw, jsyk! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Thanks so much for your recap TOfan! So happy for those lucky fans who were there to take in his incredible performances~watching the videos, it was so obvious that the crowd showed David much deserved love & respect ~ brought tears to my eyes. What a gem he is…one of a kind ♥
TOfan you are the wizard of post titles, lol!!!
What a great evening… The crowd, the weather, the fan friends and David> everything was perfect (except the country music, right Kiz???)
Heaven was a standout for me…. and the fact that he looked so relaxed, confident and HAPPY
Marylee he is a gem!!! for the whole world to see!! (don’t want to hang him from my rearview window though)
Ref ——-> 😀
Thanks Tofan for writing a recap so fast! Couldn’t wait to hear what everyone heard and saw. Have watched some videos. My favorite to start off was the interview where he confirmed a Holiday Tour!!!! He seemed so comfortable in the Arizona interviews and of course everyone was so smitten with him. I spent last eve at my great nieces 16th birthday and oh the music(noise) hurt my ears. It sounds like the Arizona Fair and concert were fantastic. I was there in spirit!! Loved the patriotic songs and off to hear the rest throughout the day.
Thanks again Tofan for being so thoughtful and sharing so quickly. Safe travels home.
tofan, and you are a word wizard!
So happy to see such support for David. Sounds like the trio had a terrific time!
Agree with the Complain, loved it! Hope we get an upclose vid with good audio.
TOfan, Refnef, and Kizzi What a great time was had by all in AZ. I’m so glad I was able to see you all for even a few minutes. I was looking for you at the venue but didn’t see you among the sea of faces. Wasn’t it just awesome? He was on fire last night and I’m sure he was singing to the fans, “to the right, to the right” don’t cha think? What a glorious night!
Kizzi, I’m so glad to have met you finally. It was a pleasure and to all he other fans that were there, thanks so much for all your cards, letters and gifts to David. We filled that sports bag to the brim. The flowers were also beautiful. Watch for the posting on The Voice later after the admins have a chance to get home and come down from their clouds of Archu-dazing! Hope you all enjoyed yourselves in Gilbert, AZ. Love the Wizard of AZ title Deb!
Once again, thanks to all the fans that came to AZ and sent items to give him. You are all fantastic and I know David was overwhelmed with all the gifts. Oh yea….Heaven was sung just for the fans, I know it in my heart. 🙂 Now I can’t wait for the Ice Show. I already have my tickets!
Glad you had such a good time and thank you Sweetonda gathering all the cards, gifts etc.
I’m sure David felt the love. I’ve been watching videos all day. Thanks to all the devoted Archie fans, videographers, reporters etc. Lucky you going to the Ice show.
Wonderful to meet you too Sweetonda. It was amAZing.
Oops, sorry Nancy for spelling your name wrong..Refnaf, I know that. 😉
Great to see you again, J.!!! And thanks for all you did for your “backyard” concert!!! 😆 😆 😆
TOfan, thanks for getting a recap up so quickly! Love, love the title of this and I am thrilled for David and all the love shown him and thrilled for everyone who was there. David was amazing and just from watching and listening in to the Ustream, it was fantastic! Can’t imagine how wonderful it was to be there, wow. His patriotic songs, chills….so beautifully sung and moving. Loved his soulful ‘Complain’ too and he sang Heaven!
What an amazing experience for all there and the crowed looked huge! Loved all the cheers for David and the response he got. Wonderful fans and no doubt some new fans and David…well, there are always not enough words.
Off to watch more videos!
peppertara, def. some new fans… even the huge, burly security guards kept turning around to check out the songs! And one even applauded at the end! 🙂
This is simply the best post title ever.

That is so awesome, bahahahaha!
I checked through Miranda’s other twitpics and saw this short twitvid of a snippet of Complain from backstage at the soundcheck!!!

…catching up on the interviews and saw this MYFoxPhoenix interview posted on the OS (yay!) … I think the camera person was a little hypnotized & mesmerized ‘cuz they zoom in on D’s eyes for like four whole seconds! bahahahahaha

Kizzi, here’s the blog post that goes with that drawing (thanks, betsy, for the heads up!)… apparently the artist, Miranda, is Ben’s girlfriend and she wrote this post about her AZ experience (check out her other artwork there, too … she is really talented!!)
“I normally don’t write much on my blog because I just like posting artwork and calling it a day, instead of rambling unnecessarily. But for this one, I really wanted to share the story behind it…
“My boyfriend, Ben started playing bass for David Archuleta back in April of this year, and we flew to Gilbert, AZ this weekend because David was headlining the 2011 Constitution Fair, an annual event held in the city of Gilbert. I was really thrilled to finally get to see a live performance because I had never been to one of his shows, only a rehearsal just before they toured Asia back in July– So this was a brand new and exciting experience for me! Danielle and I (Steven, the drummer’s wife) got to hang out on stage during the sound check and sat front row during the show. Obviously, we had a great time. One of the things I really enjoyed was watching the younger, die-hard Archie fans. They exhibited the whole spectrum of emotion, from sheer glee to hysterical screams and sobs. They were so devoted! After I managed to get backstage again (Getting passed security was a whole other story in itself, which I may have to make a separate post about later on!) we stayed in the trailer a little while before it was time to go back to our hotel. The way it worked was the band got in the van first and pulled up near the barricade where the fans gathered, then David ran out to give them one last smile and wave goodbye, hopped in the van with the rest of the band, and we sped off. It was surreal being inside that van but still being a spectator. It was an experience I’ll never forget… And a story I had to make into a drawing.”

Sweet background to the drawing…through her eyes.
And I thoroughly enjoyed this description…One of the things I really enjoyed was watching the younger, die-hard Archie fans. They exhibited the whole spectrum of emotion, from sheer glee to hysterical screams and sobs. They were so devoted!
Gives some good and timely perspective pour moi.
Awesome audio on this Complain vid from muldur (8throwcenter):
New post/thread!
