David Archuleta: Blimps and bucket lists

LOVE this! (From tumblr via Absolute Archies)

After having fun yesterday afternoon spazzing with everyone as we waited for blimp news (how often do you get to use that sentence?), I missed the big event entirely.

I got a call last night from my dad telling me his sister, my aunt, had passed away. It wasn’t entirely a surprise, she’d been in the hospital for some time after a series of strokes, but he was very upset, nonetheless, and I was on the phone with him, then other family members, for most of the night.

After I finally got off the phone close to midnight, all I wanted to do was listen to Angels (the iheartradio “Stripped” version)Β and, strangely enough, Parachutes and Airplanes. That’s when I finally saw the blimp news … perfect timing … nothing like a shot of David joy when you need it most!

It got me thinking about how cool it is that when David sets a goal (for career, family or just for fun), he doesn’t let anything break his stride… he does everything in his power to make it happen. He makes every day count.

David, and the songs he sings, are helping me try to do that too. So excuse me while I go “move forward” on my own to-do list … but first a song in David’s ongoing theme of flying high (ZG, P&A, Elevator) (thanks, bluebarsa for reminding me of this one! πŸ™‚ ) ….

Too funny that "Blimp" tied with "Narnia" in the poll! (Photo: goodyear.com)

P.S. Results of the Vlog Location Poll:

36% – At the piano singing
16% – Kitchen table – talking about Japan
15% – Laundry room
11% – Attic – with a glow stick for lighting
7% – Blimp – oh please make this happen
7% – Narnia
4% – Elevator – ‘twould be cool
4% – Garage – while parking the car
1% – Tool shed – putting shovel away while
clearing neighbour’s walk

P.P.S. So what’s on your bucket list? (And what songs (David or otherwise) get you through tough times?) (& I declare it “Lurkers/Hoverers Day,” so come on down & add your two cents! … especially if that’s on your to-do list! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ )

Awww… I’m sorry to hear, Deb. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Glad David was able to make you feel better. This is why he sings! As for his blimp ride, it seems he is the real go-getter, huh? So happy for him!

{{{Deb}}} so sorry to hear about your aunt. My thoughts are with you & your father and the rest of your family. Angels for sure is a song I turn to when things are tough. Also Be Still My Soul:

As for bucket lists, this is super random but I’ve always wanted to learn to surf. I have a cousin who’s a surfing instructor in Nova Scotia so hopefully that will eventually happen πŸ™‚

(((((hugs))))) to you and your family TOfan. My condolences to you.

Davids voice has gotten me through alot of stuff…. Angels, BSMS, When you Believe, Angels in the Alleyway, The Riddle, and all his Christmas stuff>>> actually the sound of his voice no matter what lyrics he is singing is soooo soothing…like this

As for my bucket list, it is pretty long and mostly involves places I want to travel to. David has helped me to realize that whatever it is I want to do, NOW is the time to jump in… and not let my fear get in the way> to not worry and “disco with the flow>>like having my own business doing something creative>> always dreamed it but am now going for it!!!

One of my hobbies is birding and going to Antartica to see penguins in the wild is on my list (the winter camping thing helped solidify that one, lol)
I also want to learn to downhill ski…
Seeing David perform in Utah was on my list (eeee so blessed to do that)
and now I have added seeing him perform in Europe !!!
There is more… I have it all written down in a “Life List” book which is cool because it is amazing to see all the bucket things I have already been able to do!

My heartfelt condolences TOfan – my prayers are with you and your family.

Listening to anything David sings helps me through tough times, but I really love Dream Sky High, BSMS, Angels, and – everything:).

Hi ref {{{{HUGS}}}} – I love the “Life List” book idea – I think I’ll go start that list right now!

    {{{HUGS}}}} to everyone – I’ve missed you!

TOfan, very sorry to hear about your Aunt, my sincere thoughts to you and family.
Glad that David’s music helped you with that. His voice has a way of uplifting one’s spirit and bringing a sense of peace for sure.
Yes, I find Angels, BSMS and quite a few other songs are perfect for easing my stresses. It’s always hearing that beautiful tone in his voice that does it, gets me every time.

How exciting that David got his Blimp ride!! It’s true, David sets his goals and his dreams and then he soars (in this case quite literally)!
As for bucket lists, definitely have things on my list. The small things I’ve realized for the most part but there are still things (like more travelling) I would definitely like to do. A couple of things on my list would require David to do his part πŸ™‚ so that’s a 50/50 thing (like seeing him perform in my city). Still keep it on my list though!

Love the picture at the top and Parachutes and Airplanes…..and Blimps!

Tofan, Deepest condolences to you and your family. Our favorite aunt died 2 years ago and we have missed her terribly.

Angels will always be up there. Listen to Good Place alot, reminds me to be grateful.
It doesn’t matter really, his voice moves me, lots of different ways on different days.
Been listening to one particular line over and over lately. Hero in the finale show.
Extra love his voice in this song and especially at “someone told me love will not save us.” Can’t describe it, can’t explain it, don’t know what it is, but it gets me.

    • TOfan says:

wow, hadn’t watched Hero since the finale! And I don’t think I enjoyed it much then because I was still in anti-Cook mode, lol. Great to watch it now… you can really see their friendship… and you’re right emme, our David sounds amazing! πŸ™‚

    {{{Hugs}}}
Whenever I am down, I always have to listen to something that I know will make me feel something, preferably make me cry. I am not sure why that is. It helps, though.

    Angels
    BSMS
    Ave Maria
    So many more David songs.
(Don Henley’s The Heart of the Matter got me through my divorce 19 years ago, if that counts, lol)
My bucket list is almost nonexistent.
I never thought about that till just now.
