Who else is losin’ sleep over @DavidArchie’s #LosinSleep??

Confession: I didn’t download Losin’ Sleep until this morning because I knew if I heard it at midnight, I’d be up all night. 🙂

But NOW!!! Whoah!!! NOT what I was expecting from the snippet at all, in a good way!! Download/stream etc. HERE.

It is SOOOO catchy! The ear-worminess!! The bop-iosity!! The impulse to make up my own wordsssss!!!

The snippet melody line has been stuck in my head since I first heard it. And the lyrics are simultaneously hilarious and poignant and so relatable. (Is this the first time we’ve heard props to melatonin in a song?? I believe so.)

Speaking of belieb 🙂 … the song reminds me a bit of my fellow Canuck but (sorry Beebs) with better vocals… it also reminds me of this cover David did a while back….

But the feeling and the soul and THAT VOICE!!!… all David!!

How about you guys??!! Thoughts? Random impressions?? Questions??*

p.s., if you haven’t seen D’s duet with Natasha Bedingfield on Tiktok yet, run don’t walk!!! aMAZing!!!

#duet with @natashabedingfield Wanted to share a little story of how Natasha Bedingfield gave me the motivation I needed to be an artist. 🙏

Lyrics:

I been losing sleep over you
Nothing works for me no matter what I do
You been living rent-free in my head
Now I’m tossing, turning in my queen-sized bed
Maybe I was in too deep, that’s on me
You used to be the one that gave me peace, but
Now I’m losing sleep over you
Mmh-mmh-mmh-mmh

Another night, another week
Red eyes staring at a screen
All the stupid scrolling and it’s gonna help me close it (??)
And I know it, yeah, I know
Turn off the phone and hit the melatonin
Turn the lights off on my nightstand, yeah, I’m hoping
That I can get some rest
But I won’t hold my breath

I been losing sleep over you
Nothing works for me no matter what I do
You been living rent-free in my head
Now I’m tossing, turning in my queen-sized bed
Maybe I was in too deep, that’s on me
You used to be the one that gave me peace, but
Now I’m losing sleep over you
Mmh-mmh-mmh-mmh

Now I’m losing my mind, my time
Stuck here thinking maybe girl you really were
Right to leave me, now it’s eating my alive
Hate being alone and too much melatonin
You won’t hit me back ’cause we ain’t even friend-zoning
Wish I could get some rest (yeah)
But I won’t hold my breath

I been losing sleep over you
Nothing works for me no matter what I do
You been living rent-free in my head
Now I’m tossing, turning in my queen-sized bed
Maybe I was in too deep, that’s on me
You used to be the one that gave me peace, but
Now I’m losing sleep over you
Mmh-mmh-mmh-mmh

Turn off the phone and hit the melatonin
Turn the lights off on my nightstand, yeah, I’m hoping
That I can get some rest
But I won’t hold my breath

I been losing my sleep over you
I been losing sleep over you

*My Q: Why not a King bed, dude?

    Since you asked…here goes.
Random stream of consciousness on Losin’ Sleep. My initial thoughts upon hearing the snippet was that the song could go either way, was it a love song or a break up song? Then I read the lyrics before I heard the full song. I knew it was going to be a tough one to listen to in terms of how poignant and powerful the lyrics were. No bones about it the song cuts deep. It is a testament to how far David has traveled as a songwriter and how much work he’s done on an emotional level. I love this new collab team adding Cardin to the all male mix.

My hat is once again tipped to Nate on the production. He is extremely versatile whether he’s going for stripped down or multiple layers of sound. Love, love love the vibe, it’s unique and very current.

I can’t wait to hear David’s acoustic version. Much like Be That for You I expect it to be so full of emotion that we may not survive as a species.

Just listened now! (Been a crazy day…no excuses there..but I had to just be reminded!). I thought so too…re: ”earworm” …it was stuck in my head yesterday when I only heard the snippet! I love the xylophone…different kinda sound. Diggin’ the different sound. Like when he experiments. …that dang ole Ex tho’…😉

Losin Sleep, seems to be an easy little diddy, but I agree Janey, it goes much deeper.
I love the lyrics, just so clever.

Not sure, but to my ears the lyrics in question:

    Another night, another week
Red eyes staring at a screen
All the stupid scrolling ain’t gonna help me close em

I too can’t wait to hear this in concert, thinking it may have a bit more angst.
He just keeps growing, adding to his artistry as a songwriter and performer, who really can “sing anything!”

yes, “All the stupid scrolling ain’t gonna help me close em” sounds right to me too

Those lyrics sound right, emme… also, we know he’s gonna do a KILLER acoustic version at some point! 😍

I can embrace “bop-iosity” for this song and many others.

Is this part of the same story as “Be That For You”? Was the answer, “no”????????

Really inspired lyrics lately but of course the bop-iosity is pure David, melody and phrasing, baby!

MissB, “Is this part of the same story as “Be That For You”? Was the answer, “no”????????” mte!

PS. Hopefully there’s more to this “series” where his MKOP is found and featured in the next song ♥

Oh my gosh Deb …that was the first thing I thought…this sounds like a Justin Bieber song! But then I doubted myself since I really don’t listen to the Biebs. I think that line is “all the stupid scrolling is not gonna help me close ’em” (referring to his red eyes) And finally, I thought the same thing, a king needs a king size bed! *although he would probably get lost in it. 😄
