Did not expect the Fairfield, CT, show to be one of my all-time faves, but it was.
Did not expect the tiny Fairfield Theater to have some of the best acoustics I’ve heard in a while, but it did.
Did not expect David to respond to a fan’s “This is my third show” sign in the audience (2 Christmas and 1 pop show) by comparing the trifecta to “a reverse ice-cream sandwich” (cold ones on the outside) but he totally did.
What I did expect was David to make me cry… again… as he floated me into the magical snow globe world of “Winter in the Air.”
And raise me up into the heavens on every He Is Born “HALLELUJAH!”
And rocket me onto my feet and turn me into a dancing fool for “Christmas Every Day.”
What a wild, fun crowd! They spontaneously sang Happy Birthday to David and wouldn’t stop until the end, he was totally tickled by it and when David laughs, the world is a brighter place, am I right, my friends?

The VIP questions were deep and philosophical, about his view of forgiveness … he spoke about how therapy has helped him with that, and that he repeats daily affirmations, such as “I love you, bless you, I forgive you” so that these feelings manifest themselves within him.
He talked about what he learned on his mission and what challenged him (being vulnerable enough to present his broken self to God).
DJxox asked about possible duets and he said he’s reached out to peeps for that and been declined…
I NEED NAMES AND ADDRESSES AND 656865456 CREAM PIES FOR THESE MISGUIDED INDIVIDUALS!!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
He said other duets with friends just haven’t worked out yet ‘cuz of timing etc.
David was having so much fun with this crowd… turning the band intros into The Price is Right 😂…. loving everyone singing along… and acting out “ninja Jesus” moves before one song. *DEADDDDDDD*
I felt “He is Born” lift us all off the ground to touch the edge of heaven… for real, it was incredible… a mist floated around him like a cloud and I didn’t know if it was a stage effect or actual choirs of angels winging by for a celestial group hug.
I got talking to a couple of great guys behind me … relatively new fans… and when I told them he was doing a spring tour, their faces lit up and later they told me they’ll be going to one of the shows… they told me that David’s genuine concern for others and his openness and honesty about his struggles made them fans just as much as his incredible talent.
I’m going to add more later when I come back down to earth so stay tuned!!!
Merry Merry Christmas everyone!!!

I pretty much Periscoped the whole show (in sections, and not Christmas Every Day because… come on!… of course I was up failing like a fool!). Please excuse the shakiness … when David would start to come over to our side of the stage, I’d panic and put the phone down, lol:
Videoooooooos from the lovely and amazing DJbell!!! Check her channel for moooooore!)
And Sheila’s awesome videooooos!
Thanks so much for the great recap for us who couldn’t be there. Sounds like another fabulous concert. Kelly Clarkson has said in interviews that artists turn her down for duets too. I thinks some artists are intimidated to duet with really, really good singers. We all know that David is the best duet partner ever. He can harmonize with anyone and sound fantastic. I love that David seems to really enjoy his concerts now and has always been so vulnerable.
A terrific recap, Deb. Loved it! Felt it! I think David is having the time of his life and he just has a way of bringing the crowd along with him. A lot of joy going both ways.
Totally agree with GrammyJ about David’s vocal intimidation in a duet, even though David always helps his duet partner shine.
Thanks for the great recap Deb, so glad you got to experience the ‘fantabbulosity’ of it all! Sounds wonderful. I agree too, as for duets I can only imagine that some might be intimidated the magic of David’s voice.
From what I have seen of the concert vids, etc. nothing short of amazing. David is really in his own and what a magical experience to be there and be a part of it, Appreciate all the shares and your terrific recap here! Winter magic for sure.
Glad that David does his positive affirmations, I am a firm believer in them and I do them regularly.
Happy for David and the awesome concerts that are so memorable for everyone.
Safe travels and Happy Holidays, It’s Christmas Everyday. 🙂
Thanks Deb, Festive fantabulosity in Fairfield, is fantabulos!!!
Thank you, thank you for this fabulous recap, Deb!!
My favorite part of these Christmas shows is that they are 100% David plus the band, and 100% Christmas songs — other than Crush but that doesn’t count (Crush is pop, Christmas, country, religious, or whatever type of event David is onstage at)!!! 🙂
Thanks so much for this fantastic recap, Deb! I can’t imagine David doing any better than he did in Nashville, but he seems to continually raise the bar with each stellar performance! It’s wonderful to see him so happy and owning his talent…and the stage!
I am on my iPad with the still broken bluetooth keyboard, (sigh..just me and my slow to fix techy mishaps), so I’m alternately typing with one finger (sigh, bad), and talking to text (sigh..typos)… but before I find my way to a keyboard at some point I just still had to pop in to say this recap makes me want to cry. So much of what you said was what I felt and was surprised by also. That show ❤️🎄✨💚💔😭🙃was one of my favorites, ever, and stayed in my soul all day today… and I was totally not expecting that….. I will leave it there until I can get myself to a good keyboard. But it was just so wonderful, capping off what I felt was a blessed year in David world for me.( sigh. THAT was a blissfully happy sigh.😊😌.)
I could replay that “He Is Born” a thousand times and still literally cheer at the end each time. Love it to the moon and back,, and then that “Smile”! So wonderful. Wish I could be there…. so thanks for your lovely recap.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I love reading every word of every fans’ concert experience! Hugs and Merry Christmas to all!
Thanks, Kelly, for capturing the Q&A!
What a great, heartfelt recap. As I read it, all the grief I had about missing this tour came out and I am now a mess. Thank you for that, Deb. I needed that release. ❤
sooooooo missed seeing you, Ms. B.!!! {{{{{{{{huge hugs}}}}}
Thanks so much for this, it sounds like it was just a wonderful show.
The ‘reverse ice cream sandwich ‘ 😆.
His response to the forgiveness question 💔.
A perfect example of how David can disarm you with something random and hilarious one minute, and then choke you up with something so profoundly beautiful the next:

What a tour!!! What a recap!!
I adore his original music SO MUCH!
Thanks TOFan for putting the experience into words!!!!!!!!!
Thanks David for EVERYTHING!!!
