Sorry, guys, I have no words right now… I am so blown away… I know I was joking about him wearing baggy pants & big sneakers so he could break out some dance moves BUT I DID NOT ACTUALLY BELIEVE HE WOULD DO THAT!
We always knew he could move and groove like a pro but was holding back AND NOW WE HAVE PROOF!!!!!
(Sorry for the all caps, I am just so dang excited, lol.)
Not gonna lie, had really low expectations for this video, tbh, that’s just how I roll, hahaha. I mean, I absolutely love the song, I’ve literally had Up All Night on repeat since it came out but, I don’t know… just expected something similar to what he’s already done, or something.

Shows how much I know… I really really really really really hoped someone would be dancing in the video because that’s what the song makes me do, leap out of my chair and throw my hands in the air like I don’t care… hey, if I’m at work it gets a bit weird but c’est la vie, lol… but I never in my wildest dreams thought that someone would be David! hahaha
The boi can really move too!
Also love the rooftop setting and all the diversity (felt very Canadian to me, just sayin 🙂 ) … and them all being wrapped in blankets… and all the hugs… and his killer laugh and smile… and that he was there dancing away the night, so he was basically at a rave 🙂 …
Also loved the powerful message of reaching out to someone who’s feeling left out, then paying that forward …
EDIT: I’ve just been thinking about how brave David is… about how his love of surprising us and defying our expectations trumps his self-consciousness… what courage it takes to put yourself out there like that. He’s never really danced at all in public and then he just goes for it and commits to it. Wow. THIS is why we’re here still here, am I right?

The choreographer is fantastic. He brought out another area of talent that David had subdued. Hope to see more of it. My daughter said ” you can tell David worked on it till he got it perfect”. Every detail.
Love the video and the song. He seems so grown up and comfortable. He can pull at my heart strings,, even in a dance video! Just Great!
Have to say again that I love this fun video, I love the fact that it is joyful, inspiring, fun, real, honest…not to mention the amazing artistry of David (and his terrific dancing, who knew he would do that?). Think David is a quick learner too if he had to learn some of those dance moves.
I agree, he is courageous, honest and so thoughtful in what he shares. Great comments from David in his interviews too and his blog. I’m glad he is enjoying his new found freedom with his music and with himself. It certainly shows with this great video and the new songs. Orion is so good, I don’t think I can pick a favourite song, they all have special meaning. “Say Me” certainly tugs at your heart though, goodness, beautiful. They’re just all really great songs! Happy that he was able to “let his armor fall”. He deserves the best.
Congrats to David on everything he has accomplished with his music and his expression, way to go! It’s not an easy business to be in but thankfully we will get even more new music! I’ll be immersed in the songs from Orion for some time though and I still can’t get over all the great dancing he did in that video! He has always been full of surprises however, still is. 🙂

Can’t choose one, not just saying. They are all so unique.
I will never understand why some people question David’s song writing skills. His music is so honest and every song has something that needs to be said. Say Me is my favourite song on this record. The line ” sees the rust where I see shine” is one of the most beautiful lyrics ever written. The fact that the powerful lyrics come wrapped up in David’s voice is like winning the lottery twice. I have to admit also that I am looking forward to the studio version of I’m Ready, ” hold me just a minute, hold me just a minute, can you “. David is the gift that keeps on giving and I for one am looking forward to everything he has to offer.

Let’s see…I like all the songs. Up All Night is my favorite because of the video. 9 years ago in March I first heard David sing “Imagine.” I think his 4 songs on the EP all have elements of the wonder and magic of his performance of “Imagine” —-a 100% commitment of voice, mind, heart, spirit, soul, vulnerability, tenderness, courage….messages of inspiration, support, understanding, kindness, beauty….all quintessential David.
I couldn’t be happier to see David doing what he wants to do, what is in his heart. And the dancing is a beautiful gift.
It’s a great time to be a David fan! 🙂
Love Tina’s writings, she is so clever, funny and just has a great way of expressing herself! These songs are definitely worth celebrating. I keep changing my favourites so guess I just can’t pick one.
They are all so good, meaningful, beautiful and authentic.
Moelita…..I’ve never understood since day one why people question David’s songwriting skills. I think they have always been good and just get better as he matures.
IMO he writes some of the best lyrics and melodies and really knows how to to express them in a song.
“Sees the rust where I see shine”. Love that line too. It also made me think of the idea that the naysayers regarding David only see rust where we see the shine. I think some people just cannot see the good because they have allowed too much rust to accumulate within them.
LOL. Poor analogy I know but to me there is simply no denying the beauty in David’s voice, music and artistry.

Well, I knew it would happen–if I wait to post my reaction, y’all would write it in so many ways better than I can. 4 beautiful, thoughtful songs from a beautiful, thoughtful person.
As to the dancing, my reaction every time is: GAH! It makes the video a whole different experience than if I listen to the CD. Two gifts in one.
We are SO lucky. If I hadn’t done something to wipe out most of my email addresses a few years ago, you can bet I would be share-share-share-sharing. And speaking of email, did you also receive a newsletter today? I did, but I’m not sure where they would have gotten that particular email address.
