Group hug, beautiful souls

Yup, it’s that time of year again, folks. And despite my best efforts, I’ve been getting that feeling that giving up David for Lent was the right thing for me to do this year. (Yes, I am nuts, fully aware, lol.) It actually started on Wed. but I pre-programmed this to go up now, in case you were wondering. (sheesh, I sound like David, lol)

What is Lent all about?

To me, it’s like when you had plans to go to a lavish dinner dance on a yacht in the Caribbean, all expenses paid, but at the last minute you find out your mom is deathly ill with the flu and she’d never ask you to change your plans but you love her, hey, she’s your mom, so you cancel your plans, change out of your fancy ball gown, whip up chicken soup, go over and nurse her back to health.

Unfortunately in the case of Lent, it takes 40 days and 40 nights for her to get back on her feet. So, sure, there’s sacrifice involved, but it comes from a place of love. And even though you weren’t expecting anything in return, you get rewards you never expected. She tells you funny stories about her childhood. You rediscover your love of Scrabble. You get a beautiful, warm feeling inside that only true, unconditional love can bring.

That, to me, is what Lent’s all about.

Be well my wonderful friends, love and peace to each one of you. (And please be forgiving of the random, sketchy posts that I’ve programmed to pop up.)

I will leave you with this:

    Sharing some love here. 🙂

I loved the acoustic sound of David singing in the video from the devotional. I put the 2 songs in the Candy Jar as MP3 files.
