David Archuleta talks about his new journey as an independent singer-songwriter as he gears up for his upcoming concert in Kuala Lumpur….
… despite his inherent optimism, the singer isn’t afraid to admit that his transition from manufactured pop star to independent songwriter has not been all smooth sailing….
“I have a lot of ideas that I’m really excited about but I’m still trying to figure out my sound and what I really want to say in my songs. Hopefully, some of the writers I’m meeting will be able to get the songs I want to write out of me. I want to be able to connect with my fans and reach as many people as I can.”
“I love Adele so much and people love her because she puts her heart into her songs and you can hear how much feeling she puts into it. I wanna be able to do that.”
Pop fans can breathe easy, though, for Archuleta will not abandon his pop roots just yet.
“I still love pop music. That’s what I’ve always been doing but I want to work harder on my vocals. I want to put more focus on my voice instead of all the beats and sounds that technology can add to a track.”
“People didn’t vote for me on Idol because of who I was working with or the kind of tracks I was singing. They voted for me because they liked my voice.”
The best part about making music on his own is that he doesn’t have to meet anybody’s expectations anymore, he said.
“This is all coming from me, from my heart.”

Here’s a short recap, lol, I made David laugh and ramble, I made Jeff smile so much looked like his cheeks would break. He was so impressed he started taking pics of me interiewing David. One high point was when Jeff came to me after the interview and said “That was a great interview! You so get David! You got so much more out of him than all these interviews!” ..did I die or what! Well, since I got my questions from all of you guys, then the truth is WE ALL GET DAVID! Yes we do! …

i was limited to 10 mins.. but they used 2 mins for intros andwhat not..dang … i think i submitted 18 questions, they chose only 5 that i could ask..but i think was able to ask more … and yes.. the questions I asked were from all of you guys!
When the video comes out I will do a recap of behind the scene thing..and things deleted … I told (TOLD) him to have more singing vlogs! … and being the doctor that i am..when i hugged him in the end i said “take care of yourself David” ..lol

I’m still in a daze over these vids and David’s incredible experience he’s having in Asia. I LOVE the new freedom I’m seeing in him. I can’t think of a better word than that…freedom. I know that decision had to be scary when he made it but WOW was that the right decision or what?! He’s letting God guide his career. Right choice.

I’ve watched all the Jakarta videos twice & some three or four times and I still can’t get enough! David was magnificent but a step up from his usual magnificence. How is it possible that we think we have seen the best of the best from David and then he out-does himself again & again. Does that even make sense? Why do I even worry? Because I was worried about “19 songs!” and whether his voice would hold out. After all, the last time David sang a set with that many songs was way back in his solo tour in early 2009! Oh me..of so little faith! Shame! I should have known better! David’s vocals were silky smooth, strong & pitch perfect from start to finish. Just out of this world stunning perfection.
I’m so impressed with David’s Indonesian fans! How fitting & appropriate to have fireworks at the end of a truly spectacular performance. 😀
And there’s still more to come!! My oh my oh my!!

Great summary TOfan of Indonesia in picture and video.
The Star Online article is quite illuminating as to David’s artistic direction…emphasis on his vocals, that’s why people voted for him, from his heart. All bull’s eyes, dead center, the nougat, the core of what it’s all about.
His honesty and authenticity have always shined through, imho, no matter what he is doing. The internal fortitude that it takes to be this vulnerable is quite compelling…to grow up in the public’s eye and then take life’s experiences that most people view in the negative, as a failure, and discuss openly and genuinely is such a rare human behavior. One thing for sure, fakery is not in his repertoire nor would I imagine does he attract as a fan anyone who likes artists’ whose primary creative tools revolve around creating illusions. I guess that is called “organic,” right?

…Unbelievable, unbelievable! I still can’t believe that finally I saw him, directly!
First time I started to adore him when watching his performance in American Idol 7th season….
I suddenly fell for him just by seeing his face once (he was not as handsome as now though). Maybe that’s what people called ‘Love at the first sight’, lol.
Yeah, I started to adore him since then and fully supported him during the competition. I was surely sure he would not leave the competition with empty hand because I could see his great talent inside him. And my guess was right, he ended at the second place and he became famous and famous ’till now.
His humbleness made me greatly in love with him.
Who had thought that finally I could see him right before my two eyes? Even myself could hardly believe that! I wish he will come again to Indonesia for his solo concert!

Hard to believe there’s been another concert already. I am still not over the Jakarta one and soon we will be getting videos from the Manila one! Wow, overwhelming amount of love for David and he deserves it all! Still catching up on Jakarta vids and now Manila, incredible. ‘Heaven’ was so gorgeous! Oh my, that song has always had a special place in my heart and for David to sing it again, no words. Doesn’t take much to tear me up these days and that’ll do it. Dying for a video of that one too! I agree, there are just no words anymore. Someone needs to expand the English language dictionary or the ‘Archu’ dictionary for this one, wow. These concerts are incredible and the amount of people filling that coliseum!

TOfan, I feel for you as I was stuck at work with no way to access the live stream or the videos as they were posted! The pain of having to wait together with the anticipation was worse than a toothache! But I just got home & I could not believe it! He sang “Heaven”? Well, it’s not the first time he’s performed it since he “Had me at Heaven” way back then…but this time was different. He put it all out there, no holding back! He gave it to his audience and made them understand it!
Are there any words left to describe what David does? He is truly gifted performer, and OMG, that VOICE! That spine-tingling voice…I don’t know how he can top his Thrilla In Manila…but then I thought no way could he top his Jakarta performances! I was so wrong. And so I’m afraid, very afraid! I don’t know if I can take what’s still to come! He’s given me lots of **heart palpitations** so far on this most awesome tour! INCREDIBLE!

Hi {{awestruck}}….oh thank you so much. The only time I have ever heard David sing the complete song of Heaven was at a VIP way back when and it was the most beautiful thing ever. Was always so special to me, not only because he sang it like an angel but because it was the first song I heard David sing live, sitting ten feet away from him. Almost surreal to me.
His performance of Heaven at this concert was almost surreal too! Wow, David has so much power, passion, confidence and conviction (and heart) in these concerts, absolutely amazing!
Still getting though all these fabulous videos, love ATM and his little break in the song, so cute and the way he sang..”I would fly a thousand miles” aw. Love MH too, so, so good, even though cut off a little (too bad). Will take in more tomorrow. Definitely uplifting. ❤ Thanks for all the vids.

A good friend of mine sent me a book called “The Growing Edge” by Howard Thurman. Very inspirational and he describes this “growing edge:”

Made me think of David’s “The Star Online” interview and the Jakarta and Manila concerts. He has embraced his “growing edge” and is pursuing what makes him “come alive.” No wonder we are inspired and uplifted when we hear his music. It’s just David, sharing his dream with the world.
Enough with the self-indulgent commentary. I guess this is one of my “growing edges.” 😉

Getting chills watching these performances, man, he puts it all out there> and the love from the fans makes me wish he could experience that in Canada someday. I know we would all be there for him, but the support he is getting over there can not be matched. We are just blessed that we are on this ride> so many peeps around us are missing out 😦

It’s so true, in some of the faraway vids you see just how huge that stage is but David manages to thrill and enthrall with his Voice, energy and charisma alone … no need for the “filler” and smoke & mirrors others often rely on.

So yes, I am officially obsessed with David Archuleta´s track Everything And More (as I am sure a lot of you are!), and that is the exact reason why I had to do a video for it!
It is a lyrics on screen vid, kinda karaoke-ish except it is not the instrumental because I haven’t found a good quality one (if you have it I’d be glad to hear it!), BUT I think it is just as good and it’s ready for you to sing-along with David!
Although, let’s face it, every David Archuleta fan knows this lyrics at this point, right? Anyways, enjoy the clip! 😀
