Hahahahah King Archie FTW!!!! I can start packing……

  2. emmegirl says:

Me too refnaf, and I hear the weather is pretty nice too!

  3. Abanana77 says:

Well said ๐Ÿ™‚ The Phillippines rock!

  4. TOfan says:

He’d look good with a crown, wouldn’t he? ๐Ÿ˜† And hey guys, there’s no snow there! ๐Ÿ™‚

Seriously though, that video was surreal … it’s everything I’ve pictured happening… only here in North America! lol Made me smile big time!

  5. peppertara says:

Loved the video and all the screams for David, every time they mentioned his name or showed his face. Made me smile too. ๐Ÿ™‚
Love the Pinoy fans, I know that David will return one day to their fair country and give them a nice big concert!

Yes, David is King alright and for some reason North America is a little slow in catching up to his royalty (with the exception of his wonderful dedicated fans). Time is on David’s side however…as well as his incredible artistry of course. His future is still so bright that his natural light could be one of the biggest energy savers on the planet. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. archangel48 says:

I get all choked-up when I hear the screams for David. โ™ฅ

  7. peppertara says:

“Man heard who got voted off of idol tonight. That is pretty shocking.”

Okay, just stopping in here to 100% agree with David’s tweet. I have reluctantly been watching Idol since top 12 and the best singer just got sent home tonight, way too soon. What the heck? Crazy….well, I am done with the show now, kaput, makes no sense. I’m sure Pia will do okay though, what a beautiful voice she has. Goodbye Idol. (Unless David appears on the show). Lol.
    I’m done. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. jackryan4DA says:

I was LMAO with this posted at the front page of FOD

โ€œDoesnโ€™t the Philippines seem like the land of milk and honey and bright people who know their music and artists? โ€œ

Then I come here to find this article. Bahahahahahahahaha

I feel your pain guys. I wasn’t able to join the gang here cos I was busy at work — too busy I went home at 6 just this morning! But I was giggling with their screams. Those AP guys are a hoot, for real.

Well you are all always welcome to Manila. You may get culture shock with some of our ways (e.g. drivers, government, etc..) but at least David is king & making hay ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. jackryan4DA says:

Re PIA – I replied to David’s tweet – I wasn’t surprised w/ her being voted off (ducking for tomatoes).

As I previously commented in TDC, what I find askew w/ the Idol contestants this season is I do not find much musical intelligence. They think that blowing their pipes or growling or making weird faces or or hitting the glory notes are the be-all and end-all on stage.

Whereโ€™s the story? Whereโ€™s the connection? Restraint seems to be a forgotten art. Too bad cos there are plenty of very promising talents & exciting personalities in this batch. But at the end of the day, after all the vocal pyrotechnics, they still leave me emptyโ€ฆ

Pia is no exception. Example: DLTSGDOM — this is a poignant, pleading song – although some interpret it as an obsessed declaration of one’s fascination over another person. Whatever it is, I think we can agree that the melody and the lyrics are emotionally charged. But Pia’s rendition was… ahhh, pleasant? Yeah she hit the notes, understood her wordings but there was no angst; no “libido” for lack of a better term. And how old is she? How come David, who in his tender 17 years could express the angst, the imploring, all the heart rending cry this song is supposed to evoke?

I must confess 2 things though: (1) During group performances, Pia shines. (2) I expected her to be on the Top 4, but not the winner.

    Just expressing an opinion…

    • Tawna21 says:

Thanks JR for explaining to me what I’ve felt about the Idol contestants–seriously. Now it makes sense to me—> ” Whereโ€™s the story? Whereโ€™s the connection? Restraint seems to be a forgotten art. Too bad cos there are plenty of very promising talents & exciting personalities in this batch. But at the end of the day, after all the vocal pyrotechnics, they still leave me emptyโ€ฆ” They just don’t have it.

  10. TOfan says:

peppertara & JR, since Season 7, I’ve dropped by Idol only once or twice each season to check out the “talent” but end up walking away again … thanks, JR, for explaining why: “But at the end of the day, after all the vocal pyrotechnics, they still leave me emptyโ€ฆ”

I had heard the buzz about Pia so I was hoping a woman might win this year and break the white-guy-with-guitar rut they’ve been in for years now, but I guess not.

Love to see David’s tweet about having a blast at his band rehearsal… looks like they were jammin’ late into the night! Really hoping he’ll share a snippet with us in a future vlog! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Tawna21 says:

TOfan—I’m packing my bags like the rest of you! ๐Ÿ˜›

  12. Donna says:

To quote Tina Fey, ‘I want to go to there’. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. jackryan4DA says:

Not yet the official footage but an HQ version of the Barkada Choice Award for Teen Icon thanks to ashztar

  14. archangel48 says:

JR, you have explained what I’ve been feeling since this season began. I like many of the contestants. Just NONE of them make me feel the song they are singing. They seem robotic, I guess. Could be I am spoiled by the one-and-only-VOICE!
Seriously, what was last nights show anyway? Nothin’ but a big mess! Iggy pop half-dressed, looking and sounding pretty crazy! And I remember thinking I liked Constatine. After last night, I can’t remember WHY? I want to be done with American Idol, I just don’t understand the pull the show has making me want to see these young folks trying to make something of themselves.

  15. peppertara says:

Well, just one more comment on AI…..to be fair you can’t really compare any of the singers to David, he is a rare breed! You can’t compare anyone to David. Doubt I will see another DA in my lifetime.
That said, I still think that other singers are very gifted and can do well on their own merit too. Pia was the only one that I seemed to really feel something from on the show this year, the best singer IMO in the top 12 and that’s why I was shocked to see her go so soon (as were many others). If she puts out an album I would be happy to buy her music. Really like her voice and I think she has a lot of sensitivity and graciousness about her (think I heard she’s 22 yrs old, still very young).
So I have to disagree with you JR about Pia but certainly no tomato throwing, haha. It’s okay though, to each his/her own of course. ๐Ÿ™‚ And of course when it comes to David, so many of us agree….how could we not. He’s the King, no doubt about that. ๐Ÿ™‚

I really hope that we hear more about David’s jam session (or band practice). I would love to see some video of it, would be a real treat. Hopefully we will have another blog soon.

  16. peppertara says:

Sweet picture of David with some Salvation Army officers..on the same flight apparently.

    Long Live The King!

  18. emmegirl says:

TOfan, saw this on another site and thought you be slightly interested ๐Ÿ™‚

Interesting tweets I saw from Archuleta FanScene:

โ€œWe hear Davidโ€™s new band is really something special! Heโ€™s picked some extremely talented musicians. Canโ€™t wait until he introduces them! โ€

โ€œWe hear theyโ€™re jazz musicians with fantastic improvisational skillsโ€ฆthe word โ€œprodigiesโ€ was mentionedโ€โ€ฆ 8 minutes ago via web

    @janey79@FanScene lol. Deets?

    @FanScene@janey79 Thatโ€™s all weโ€™ve got for now!
    less than 20 seconds

Jaaazzz musicians, who can improvise (we know someone else who can improvise too)

    ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

    • TOfan says:

thanks, emme, “slightly interested” bbahahahahaha … make that *cartwheels* lol

      David + jazz + improv = โ™ฅ โ™ฅ โ™ฅ

      Exciting times ahead, folks! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

      • emmegirl says:

Ik, I can hardly contain myself. I hope it is not just rumor. The thought is already driving me kinda crazy. He wanted musicians for what he is doing now and in the future!!!! I hope I am not getting ahead of myself too much here but, AAAAHHHHH!!

      • TOfan says:

I hope it’s more than just a rumour, too! I’m a huge jazz fan and one of my fave types is latin jazz! ๐Ÿ™‚ I actually don’t see David tackling any full out jazz till he’s older (but you can def. hear strains of it in a lot of his stuff… some of the live HYAMLCs from the CFTH tour, for sure), but a soulful jazzy new direction?? oh ya!!!

  19. emmegirl says:

I don’t think so either, but right now I’ll take any syllable or solitary note he wants to give us. Soulful, jazzy new direction…loving the sound of that.

  20. emmegirl says:

The TOSOD at the acoustic show in San Diego had a more of a jazzy vibe to it.
And love, loved that ooh whoo oooh ooh ooh at the 3:22 mark…have replayed that again and again and again.

    • TOfan says:

That’s an awesome TOSOD! I think my fave is this Denver version, esp. for his crazy slide on “Doooooown” at 2:16-2:20 (and Alfredo’s appreciative smile after that says it all!)

…and just noticed this comment on the vid:
      really love this version
I think this is the kind of style David is going to have.
He was called the soulman when๏ปฟ he was๏ปฟ young
And I think that inherent part will come out as he gets older!
And I am going love it!

      • emmegirl says:

Tofan, you read my mind! I couldn’t decide between the Denver one and the one I posted. I listen to both those mp3’s daily on my commute. ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. emmegirl says:

    ok, I’ll stop after this.

    • TOfan says:

spooky, emme! How did you know that is EXACTLY the one I was thinking of??? I happened to be sitting in the 2nd row for that amazing concert and this performance in particular blew me away. It was like he was SO in the zone, in a musical trance … I went back in the post “archives” to see what I wrote about it back then:
“His focus and improvisational mastery on that song was something to behold. I felt like Iโ€™d been transported in a time machine to watch a Future David fulfilling his destiny. Maybe I was.”

      ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

      • emmegirl says:

        This keeps getting spookier! ๐Ÿ™‚

Didn’t realize you were there, Wow! I thought this was one of his best CFTH concerts. And this performance of HYAMLC blew me away – had a skosh more of that laid-back-smooth-as-butter-tickle-the-notes thing going on, and especially in the last minute.

Amb4dja, forgot to say loved your computer tech story!

  22. Amb4dja says:

    Hey DA peeps.. Happy Sunday.

…haven’t caught up on the posts yet, but in response to TOfan’s declaration of love to the Phillipines…
I heart the Phillipinos for loving David. And Asia. And everyone else who’s sees his marvelousness. (And I say to the U.S….stop being so fickle with your musical favorites, take note from the Phillipines….THAT’S loyalty, man!)

Funny Phillipines story….on my old Dell computer (where much of the tech help is in the Phillipines)…once the tech had to “take over my computer” to fix it while I was online with him…I’m on the phone too with him and I hear him say to me…
“David Archuleta?”…LOL…he could see my screen saver…and we launched into a nice conversation about Season 7…he had watched, was an Idol fan, liked both David’s.
Haha…I’ll dish with anyone on David. ๐Ÿ™‚

  23. Amb4dja says:

awwwWw. …just listend to the Barkada video…and got tingles at the cheers for David.
    I’m easy.

  24. Amb4dja says:

    oops. easy and typing impaired…”listened.”

  25. awestruck says:

emmiegirl – TOfan back to his roots with JAZZ in the band – latin jazz band, I’m anticipating the possibilities – and with the distinct possibility of IMPROV well, lay me down before I fall down… hope the ‘rumors’ are true

    • emmegirl says:

Lol! To quote him, “I get all tingly just thinking about it” ๐Ÿ™‚

      • awestruck says:

you know emmie – David must be ‘tingling’ at the thought of truly doing is own thing!

    • emmegirl says:

Think this is closer to what he has wanted to do all along. Yeah, you can imagine how happy he is to finally move more in this direction. Jazz/r&b lends itself to improvisation, and he is a master. Eeeeeekkk!

  26. peppertara says:

Well, I’m definitely ‘tingling’ at the thought of David doing his own thing. A Jazz flair? Whoa, the anticipation grows! Didn’t know that David tinkered on the drums? What else has he got up his sleeve. Fun and interesting tweets:

    “Davidsbackpack David’s Back Pack
Did you guys know a certain someone whos name starts with, lets say D, can play the drums? Not bad either has a good beat. (:
    8 Apr

    Davidsbackpack David’s Back Pack
HA HA your comments make me laugh. No vids sorry. Didnt say he was a professional just he can keep a beat. No guitar no drums in public, yet.”
    8 Apr

Are we going to see a future David playing multiple instruments? ๐Ÿ™‚
(Have often wondered who ‘Davidsbackpack” is.)

    • emmegirl says:

Is the “yet” at the end of that tweet the quantifier? Are we maybe going to get to see this someday?

I don’t know if I can even handle the guitar. He best be knocking it off! Seriously!

  27. TOfan says:

    New post/thread!
