Where do I begin? How do I find the words to describe these last few days? I’m not a prolific writer and I write pretty much the way I talk. I tend to ramble on and on if someone doesn’t stop me, except around David. I am completely incoherent and either can’t say a word or I say something silly or off the wall, as I did at the VIPs in Providence and AC, but I digress … See what I mean?
Like everyone else who had tickets for the originally scheduled shows, I was anxiously awaiting these shows. That is until the Christmas Tour was announced. Then I questioned whether I should go at all. Silly me!
You see, it’s not JUST about David anymore. He is of course, the main reason we make all these travel plans months or weeks in advance, sometimes without a second thought. He is our focus.

But somewhere along the way, along with David, the socializing, the get-togethers, luncheons, dinners, the camaraderie with others who feel the same have become almost as important to us as our David. Because of David we have forged great friendships, some of them long lasting, with wonderful people.

I spent the last several days with three lovely ladies I met “in person” at David’s solo finale in Utah, SandyBeaches and Snow Angelz, TOfan and refnaf. And I finally met “in person” so many others I had been looking forward to meeting for so long, so I could put faces to their words: happy, djxox, river, dawn, abrra, bebereader, marlie, Terry (from Tampa), Sunshine, Zoe, ninaf, conditioner, and so many others I had met at previous concerts. It has become almost as exciting to meet with each other as it is to see David. And I love it!
Providence is kind of a blur. I do recall before and during the VIP, I was a nervous wreck. You would have thought it was the first time I would be in HIS presence. Sure enough, I became incoherent when it was my turn for the picture. He asked me where I was from as he had forgotten, and it seems I answered, turned and walked away as he supposedly was still talking to me. That’s what I was told. Abrra showed me video proof though, so I guess it’s true. I didn’t mean to just walk away. I just spaced out. We were allowed to take photos and video of the entire VIP, which was very cool.

It’s show time
As for the concert itself, David exceeded my expectations. He was on fire! It was worth the wait all these weeks. I knew I made the right decision to come to Providence and AC and regretted not going to Manchester as well. I was very anxious for the AC concert. TOfan, refnaf, SB and I flew out from Providence to Philly then drove to AC the following day. It was Halloween and there was a party atmosphere in AC that night. The four of us had dinner with KT, Lorna, John, Karin, Monica (starrynites), and Trish. It was a fun night! So many people “dressed up” and some were very interesting.
The day of the concert, we had brunch with KT, Lorna, and three ladies I have looked forward to meeting for a long time, bebereader, ninaf, and happy!!! (If truth be told, meeting “happy” was one of the reasons I didn’t cancel my plans.)

The VIP group was huge. Over 100 fans. It was held in a nice meeting room, nicer the than the previous VIPs I had attended, but again, no acoustic session. Instead we were herded (yep, like cattle) to the concert hall to hear David do his sound check. I was close to the end of the group and as we’re going in, I heard several fans tell David they like his T-shirt. He was up on stage looking fantastic. (See proof on the “sound check” videos).
As I got closer, I thought to myself, “Well, I’ll be &%#!” It’s a T-shirt I gave him! I knew it was a while ago, and I remembered it was in Albuquerque. I bought it last minute when I was in Target the day before that concert. I liked the colours and smiley faces and I guess he liked it too. Does he even realize how it makes us feel when he wears a shirt or scarf we pick out especially for him? He certainly didn’t and couldn’t know I gave him that T-shirt. But it feels good anyway.
We were herded back to the meeting room for pictures. I knew what I was going to say to him this time. I was determined to say something that made sense. As I was in line for the pics, a couple of people told me to let him know he’s wearing a shirt I gave him. I say oh no, I’m not going to do that! My turn came up and of course all the “deep” thoughts I had, all the things I wanted to say to him just flew out the window. I walked up to him, and I whispered “I like your shirt.” He whispered back, “Thanks.” I asked quietly without moving my lips, “When did you get it?” He whispered back without moving his lips cause he’s trying to smile for the pic, “I don’t remember,” probably thinking what the heck is wrong with this woman? I just said “Oh.”
The picture was taken, and I turned to him and said, not whispering this time, “I’m so glad you made it here safely, but you really should have come with us on our flight!” He chuckled and said, “I know!” I’m sure he thinks there is something seriously wrong with me! I don’t blame him in the least! And I walked away embarrassed, thinking I wasted another opportunity to tell him how much I love and enjoy his Christmas From The Heart.
I had a great seat for the concert … dead centre, 10th row! He was beyond awesome. He was spectacular! He is The Voice after all! I could not take my eyes off him. He is so totally mesmerizing! Sometimes I can’t believe I am there and he’s on stage. It’s almost a surreal feeling. Then it was over and I knew I would “crash” in a few hours. Coming down from the euphoric high after seeing David live on the stage larger than life is so hard, which is why we can’t wait for the next fix, the next concert.

Fly the friendly skies … with David!
OK, so I guess I should explain my comment to him about “flying with us.” I get teased about being a “David magnet.” On the other hand, I KNOW it’s coincidence when David appears unexpectedly where I happen to be before or after some of his concerts. I laugh at the comments, but when it keeps happening, it makes it hard to explain. (I really think it’s coincidence though, because it doesn’t happen at every concert.)
This time was very weird the way we had this passing encounter with David. We got to the Providence airport and were checking in our luggage. I could not find my licence and the delay took about 10 minutes. Finally, the four of us got through security but at the end, as we waited for SB while security searched her “contraband,” I got a tweet from David on my phone about how nice the security person was! I KNEW he had to be coming through security. We looked over at the other line, saw Mike, then Kendra, and DAVID!! Then Ray. We could not believe our eyes!
We all said hi to them. I think I said something like “fancy meeting you all here!” We wished them Happy Halloween and we’ll see them in AC. I was totally focused on David, not quite believing we were looking at him! We thought they may be on our flight. We were so excited, shaking and our hearts were beating a mile a minute on the inside! But on the outside, we acted cool, calm and collected! TOfan, refnaf and SB thought it was my “David Magnet” at work. I think it’s coincidence. But there were the small delays and if we had not had those little delays, we never would have seen David.
We would have known he was in the airport somewhere from his tweet, but we never would have seen him in the flesh. Turns out they took a much later flight and just happened to come to the airport very early at just the right time for our encounter. They were still on the tarmac when we were already in a car and on our way to AC. That’s what I meant when I said they should have flown “with us.”
“David Magnet”? Nah! I would just say I have been very lucky!

The entire weekend experience will be a treasured memory for me. Many parts of it were so surreal. Hearing David sing live is something that I will continue to do as long as I am able!!

I agree totally about much of the joy of going to a David concert is derived from interacting with his close-knit fan community. Looking forward to meeting refnaf and YJfanofdavid in Cleveland! I still have lunch once a month with another nurse I met online and have driven to several concerts with. We have a blast and since we live in different cities, would never have met otherwise. All for the love of David!

I love your recaps! And I hope you’re feeling better. As much as you want to call this a coincidence…hmmmm I don’t know. I know I’ve told you before that you also have a magnetic personality, you have a certain vibe about you I felt when I met you in Del Mar, that may be the reason behind these encounters..who knows. I loved talking to you and hearing about this encounter over the phone. I have Bebe to thank for this, sharing her experience and her phone allowing me to talk to so many of you over the phone. You all sounded so excited and so friendly…it made my day. Hope you can all make it to the west coast for a David event someday.

I just got off the phone with David Archuleta, who will perform at Abravanel Hall in Utah on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25.
I will wait to write the article until next week, with the hopes of having it published here and in print on Nov. 15 or so.
But here are a few tidbits from Utah’s favorite son. (Sorry, Donny. Maybe if you win “Dancing With the Stars,” but not until then.)
David, who is learning guitar to go along with piano, is spending all this week and next week writing songs with producers as he works on an album with an unknown release date. He spent some time in Nashville several weeks ago and also wrote while he was there. “I’m learning how to become a songwriter,” he said.
He has goals for his next album, though. “I just want my personality to come out,” he said. “I want this music to have some character — my character. I want my stories to be in here.”
As for Halloween, he didn’t dress up. He was stuck on the tarmac with Demi Lovato for more than three hours.

Hey there, good morning. I have had company and therefore little use of the computer and that made me restless!
It is great to see everyone and hear SF’s story and relive the adventure at least the part from Providence to Atlantic City.
Seeing David in the airport was fun and having the first choice of seats on the new airplane I didn’t know what to do! We thought that he might be on the plane and where would they sit? So I started out in row one and moved to the back when the others came on board. Dang it he was on another flight and it was said in the rumor mill that he sang “Imagine” on the tarmac while they waited endlessly to leave…If it was true then lucky them.
Anyway, we were blessed to be everywhere that we were and I am sure that the adventures will only strengthen the friendships on our sites….
I believe that it was the meeting of the ‘on earth’ guardian angels…laugh all you want and call me crazy!
SF, that shirt has made it to the BIG time!

Refnaf, so true about getting a glimpse of the pressure David was under to finish the first album. I’m pleasantly surprised he’s been given the space to take his time on this one. I honestly didn’t think he’d be allowed that luxury for another few years.
Having the Christmas CD out there likely takes the pressure off having to get #2 out in the marketplace at lightning speed.
And the encouragement and mentoring David’s getting with songwriting tells me Jive is not as clueless about his brilliant potential as we once thought.
Let’s face it, his light shines so brightly, you’d have to live on the dark side of the moon not to see it.

ref – I thought those 3 clips from the MTV interview gave alot of insight. I was very intrigued when he said he wanted songs that he writes and has the time to write, songs that he “likes,” songs more about him and his experience on his next album. That’s a huge bit of ALL RIGHT.
And TOfan, I’ve been thinking he’s been giving the GREEN light to GO GO GO in many areas. His journey of growth in his career continues and we get to see it – HECK he tweets several times a day sharing it with whomever is out there.

I am enjoying reading reports from people I got a chance to spend time with and those I hope to meet in the future. Many thanks to Kizzi for creating a warm, wonderful environment in Manchester to meet and get to know other devoted David fans. As much as each David concert I go to is as good as it gets, the wonderful thing is to know also that the best is yet to come.
TOfan, many thanks to you, not the least of which is for sticking with me. The seats were great for experiencing the full on force of the Archuleta train. Everything is more with him: more confidence, more killer song variations, more volume and more screaming fans all of which make it more impossible not to keep coming back for more!
off topic – Kaleidoscope (Thanksgiving Day show) has David on their Cast page. What a great write-up.
David Archuleta is an amazing singer/songwriter. At the ripe old age of 10 he won the Children’s Division of the Utah Talent Competition. At 12 he won the Junior Vocalist Category of Star Search. At 16, he was one of the youngest contestants and runner up on the 7th season of American Idol. In September of 2008 he released his Self-Titled album on Jive Records, and his first single “Crush” debuted at #2 on The Billboard Hot 100 charts. He was listed as Forbes Magazine’s #2 Breakout Artist of 2008. That same year he won multiple Teen Choice Awards including “Best Love Song” and “Best Tour”. David toured the UK this year opening for McFly, sold out his headlining spring tour, and toured with Demi Lovato this past summer. In September David won an Alma Award for “Breakout Artist”.
He’s appeared on iCarly and Hannah Montana, dueting with Miley Cyrus on “I Don’t Know Why”.

“Hi guys – Archie isn’t working with Mat Kearney. Just his producer. I think it’s an awesome fit. I love how Kearney’s last album sounds. I described it to Mat as “underwater rock.” (He had a good laugh about that, but finally conceded and understood what I meant.) It has a very nice dreamlike feel to it. Yet still sounds clear and analog-y. I HATE how pop/rock albums are now mastered within an inch of their lives and it just sounds like a wall of digital noise. Kearney’s stuff always sounds clean. I hope we get to hear those songs. Would love to hear David’s voice on a really well-produced song.”

Christmas From the Heart (19/Jive)
Quick, somebody punch me in the face! I must be going soft, because there’s something about the American Idol Muppet’s Christmas album that . . . I really like. Archuleta comes off as some sort of Disneyfied castrato, a cherubic eunuch. Over robust synths, the kid absolutely nails such churchly standards as Joy to the World and Angels We Have Heard on High. It’s quite lovely, actually. That said, the ridiculous album art features Archie sporting one of his classic who-me smirks, as if he’s just peeked at his first Playboy. (Hey, I liked the disc. It’s a start.)
Ah, this is sooo sweet: The haters are lovin’ the music.
Kizzi – another one bites the dust
Looks like a quiet news day. Most excitement was David’s tweet:
“Soup’s On!” And his 268,520 followers all tweeted back at once…or, hmmm…it seemed like that. Didn’t know there were so many different soups in the world.

The album art is lame… so he got that right too.
David’s latest tweet – “Bah, those stinkin’ little brain farts. No fun to have while writing a song. Haha.”
He just cracks me up!
Oops this is his last tweet – “All right, finished writing for the day. I feel like dancing now. Too bad I can’t dance.”
Oh yes you can David, I know you have it in you.
Can you believe David thinks he can’t dance? He’s Latino, so of course he CAN dance! 😆

I’m going to Mashantucket (Foxwoods), Montclair and maybe SLC on 11/24 (have business trip tentative in that neck of the woods). Maybe I’ll see you there – I’ll be taking the red eye east after the concert if it works out.
There’s more leaves to mulch with the mulch mower so off I go “cruising” with the mower while listening to David. Makes any chore more fun!
