There’s a top-secret international initiative afoot — okay, not so secret — to spread the love for Pat-a-Pan north of the 49th Parallel … that’s us.

I mean, could there be a more Canada-friendly track on David Archuleta’s Christmas From the Heart CD? It’s spunky, funky, was born in a northern climate (la belle France)  — and sung in both official languages!

It’s also the perfect gateway song for not-yet fans to get hooked on the mind-altering music of David Archuleta. And hooked they will be. It’s as addictive as Mr. Tu-re-lu-re-lu himself.

Pat-a-Pan is one of those rhythmic up-tempo numbers  (like Shop Around) that shows off David’s innate musicality, his ability to use his voice as one of the instruments rather than singing around the music. One minute, he’s leading the percussion section — pat-a-pat-a-pan — the next, woodwinds — tu-re-lu-re-lu. Amazing. Can’t wait to hear the dance-mix versions to arrive just in time for Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties.

Your mission, if you decide to accept it, is to undertake a stealth operation whenever the opportunity arises. Gift it to French immersion students or teachers, request it on your local French CBC station, email it as a theme suggestion to So You Think You Can Dance Canada, blast it while eating poutine. Or just listen and enjoy. (Oh, and after watching Angelica’s amazing video below, good luck trying to get the tune out of your head … for days!)

patapanGuillô, prends ton tambourin,
Toi, prends ta flûte, Robin
Au son de ces instruments
Tu-re-lu-re-lu, pat-a-pat-a-pan
Au son de ces instruments
Je dirai Noël, gaiement.

Willie, bring your little drum.
Robin, get your fife, and come,
And be merry while you play.
Tu-re-lu-re-lu, pat-a-pat-a-pan
We will listen as you play
For the joy for Christmas day.

When the men of olden days
Gave the King of Kings their praise
They had pipes on which to play.
Tu-re-lu-re-lu, pat-a-pat-a-pan
They had drums on which to play.

For the joy of Christmas day. / God and man became today,
More in tune than fife and drum, / So be merry while you play.
Tu-re-lu-re-lu, pat-a-pat-a-pan
Come be merry while you play / On this joyous Christmas day.

pat-a-pan-logo-jean-michel-renaultWhile the angels wing / To the newborn King,
I will sing for the blessed Babe / On this joyous Christmas day.
God and man became today, /More in tune than fife and drum,
So be merry while you play. / Tu-re-lu-re-lu, pat-a-pat-a-pan
Come be merry while you play /On this joyous Christmas day.

While the angels wing / To the newborn King,
I will sing for the blessed Babe / On this joyous Christmas day.
Tu-re-lu-re-lu-ra-le. Come and hear them patapan.

Bring your little drum. /Robin, get your fife and come.
Tu-re-lu-re-lu-ra-le. Come and hear them patapan.

Men of olden days / Gave the King of Kings their praise.
On this joyous Christmas. / Bring your little drum.
Robin, get your fife and come. /Come be merry.

(Repeat)

    From prev. thread:

    From yjfanofdavid:
Hi Snowangels, Anyone here who is a fan of Leonard Cohen, a native of Montreal and one of the original singer-songwriters? I am going to his concert here in Cleveland tomorrow.

At 74, he is still performing! I hope David will have a long and prolific career like him. I also hope one day to hear David’s cover of his Hallelujah, which has been recorded by more than 150 singers, from Willie Nelson to Brandi Carlie. For now, I will settle for hearing the man himself singing it. 🙂

    From TOfan:
yjfanofdavid, LOVE Leonard, both his music and his poetry. He’s practically a national hero here (Order of Canada winner and all). You might find this interview with him interesting:
    http://bit.ly/26Qb7s

I actually clipped it out of the paper when I read it … this part especially reminded me of David:
“Cohen likes to feel the mood in a room and react, in a process he says is almost spiritual.

“Which is why, as his music director and bassist Roscoe Beck explained a couple of hours before the show, Cohen tries to leave himself open to momentary whims onstage.

“It’s heads-up at all times,” said Beck, who has played with Cohen since 1979 and put together the band for the current tour. “We may land on a chord and he just may feel that it’s not time to come in singing yet, just emotionally it’s a nice moment, and he’ll decide to extend that moment another bar. We have to be ready for that, we have to be ready for anything. A lyric change, an added bar, a different song.”

    From yjfanofdavid:
TOfan, Thanks for the interview! Now I need to pay extra attention to all the momentary whims!

okay…. pre David I listened to Cohen, alot…. love his stuff. YJF have a blast!

TOfan Pat a pan rocks… just sayin’. David singing in French, mmmmmmm. Cute in the caroloing vid, when he says yah to being the opposite of Celine… baaahaaa. Stealth ops FTW. Thanks to for the lyrics…. “God and man became today, /More in tune than fife and drum,”, wow first time I heard that i was moved… Amen?

Gotta say again..Angelica’s video is A-MA-ZING!
I am is awe every time I watch your videos! This one to David’s “Pat-A-Pan” is so dang creative, it blows my mind!

    What Beck said about Cohen…

“It’s heads-up at all times. We may land on a chord and he just may feel that it’s not time to come in singing yet, just emotionally it’s a nice moment, and he’ll decide to extend that moment another bar. We have to be ready for that, we have to be ready for anything. A lyric change, an added bar, a different song.”

That’s going to be David…in fact, he already does this to a certain extent. He gives us something new at each performance.

David is out & about…at an Honor Society concert. Their opener, Esmee Denters wants to meet David. Haha!

TOfan, refnaf…Looks like sunny skies for our road trip next Saturday!!

TOfan: That be some strong inducements to move to Canada – French & Pat-a-Pan and POUTINE!

What especially captivates me is to listen first to Pat-a-Pan, then go to What Child Is This, then to Riu Riu Chiu. I think the progression and change of language and tempo makes those three songs have deeper meaning and a prolonged story in three languages across three continents, if you will.

To start with shepherds are playing fife and drum celebrating Jesus birth in, oh say, the Quebec Province in Canada. Then the tempo and scene changes and we are quieted and entranced listening to the tender scene being painted of Jesus in a manger, in, oh let’s say England. And, then, in Spain we are being serenaded with vigor that Jesus, born to the Virgin Mary, has come to atone, to redeem with nightingales singing (“riu riu chiu” some say means nightingale song.)

Angelica – Your Pat-a-Pan video is inspired and beautiful. As you know Mr. K is taking a stab at making a fan video with Pat-a-Pan. He has an interesting idea 🙂 . Thanks for the software tips. We shall see the fruit of his labors and what his muse has led him to in a week or so. Never seen him work so hard over art!

SF – Love that pic. Thanks. Never heard of Honor Society before. Did you catch the one of him jogging yesterday?

  7. Kizzi's avatar Kizzi says:

And about 10 hours ago David tweeted this:

“About to have a wheatgrass shot. I’m pretty excited.”

    According to SqueezeIt:
    1. Drinking only 1 shot (30cc) of wheatgrass is equal to having 1.5 KGs of green vegetables

    2. You will receive the most nutrition if you drink in within 1-2minutes after being freshly squeezed

Top 5 Reasons to drink Wheatgrass Shots:
    1. Activates your digestive system
    2. Cleans and detoxifies your blood
    3. Enhances your immune system
    4. Makes your skin fresh and shiny
    5. Helps burn your food and fat

So, I’m for checking out the WheatGrass thing as #4 & 5 of the Top Reasons seems pre-tt-y good rationale to at least try it. I let you know the results. 😉

    Cheers!

  8. awestruck's avatar awestruck says:

Ah Pat A Pan… definitely stuck in my head since watching Angelica’s video again and again. Beautifully put together Angelica. Thanks for the words TOfan. What an up beat song, yes to radio play as it is ‘new and fresh’. At least to western Canada… is this played much out east?

    Not a poutine fan, sorry

Really enjoyed the Cohen article and the strength of the similarities that apply to David, as others have pointed out, is fitting. “Cohen likes to feel the mood in a room and react, in a process he says is almost spiritual.” Definitely. Silverfox – A special group of musicians will be needed to accomodate David’s increasing artistic liberties, heh. Wonder how long Mike K will travel with David, having a young family and all. It seems that he fits well with David at this point in his career.

Kizzi – 1.5 KG of greens, that’s a LOT of salad! A wheatgrass shot might be healthy, but looks gross (wish I knew how to link to a picture) – snarky’s has a photo http://www.snarkyarchies.com/

  9. TOfan's avatar TOfan says:

SF, thanks for the pic! (Kizzi, there’s a jogging pic? Please share 🙂 )

I like your suggestion for listening to Pat-a-Pan then WCIT then RCC … since I tend to replay RCC a few times before moving on, it’ll make a good finish. Believe it or not, the melody of Melodies of Christmas has really grown on me. Esp. David’s repeat of “they remind us” “they remind us” … it’s got a soulful grooviness to it.

Wheatgrass shots FTW!! (Sorry, the idea of David doing shots of any kind … ROTFL.)

And, yeah, TOfan, there was a lot of Tweeting going on about the “shot” and people actually waiting to see if he tweeted the results…LOL.

But, hey, ya’ know a shot is really just an intense experience. So…hmmmm….ummmm….I guess we get shots (i.e. jolts) of “immense joy” quite often, eh?

  12. TOfan's avatar TOfan says:

Kizzi, that is spooky. I was just thinking the other day that it was nice David had some privacy while out running … that no pics had turned up on the net. It was only a matter of time, I guess.

CanadianArchie and I have been tweeting ChumFM to get them to play Pat a Pan. David Corey, the PD, is really the one to convince, and he was the one who told me that David was too, hmm, young for his listeners. How old is Miley w/ that USA tune again? Who they play constantly. Pat a Pan is indeed a song that DESERVES to be heard!

Good work, Pastel! Did you see Jim Cantiello’s tweet:

“I got confirmation from a certain someone that my fave song WILL be released. Be patient! Also, Archie “Xmas Sweaters” vid coming tomorrow!!”

Wonder which song it is? *runs to rewatch MTV vid* He looks like a Pat-a-Pan kinda guy. 😆

(So funny that everyone’s on the edge of their seat to watch David’s reaction to a Christmas sweater … they are actually very tasteful as Xmas woollies go, no reindeer heads or jingle bells dangling.)

  17. none's avatar silverfox says:

    I had no idea..

“Remembering David’s Grandmother, Claudia Archuleta” Please read at http://bit.ly/1RfPl6 🙂

David clearly inherited the best of both sides of his family & heritage.

  18. TOfan's avatar TOfan says:

SF, wow, I had no idea either. So that’s who Claudia is named after. No surprise though that David inherited so much music/performing DNA.

Impressive numbers for CFTH reported by the Chicago Tribune: http://bit.ly/3oNisl

“On Oct. 13, an American idol and an ‘American Idol’ released Christmas albums on the same day. America voted with its wallets, and the idol (lowercase) emerged the early winner.

“Bob Dylan’s Christmas in the Heart edged David Archuleta’s Christmas From the Heart in first-week sales, New York magazine reports.

“But Archuleta, the baby-faced balladeer who became a household name on Fox’s American Idol, can share in the holiday cheer: His album only sold about 1,000 fewer copies.

17,350, Bob Dylan, Christmas in the Heart
16,254, David Archuleta, Christmas From the Heart

  19. refnaf's avatar refnaf says:

Great idea pastel!! pat-a-pan on CHUM would make up for the fact that they ignored ALTNOY.

Not likin the running pic, seems invasive of his privacy to me, just sayin. I do approve of him taking shots of healthy stuff. Our intense jolt of pure joy needs to stay strong. Are you really going to try it KIZZI!!! eeewwww.

(((sf))) thanks for the link to the article on David’s grandma. Interesting that his grandma was a performer…. caused a bit of a ruckus on twitter though, peeps thought it was recent news….about his albulieta, yikes. Says something about the speed at which rumours can travel now.

So Dylan came out on top this week? I was planning on buying it but haven’t yet. Anyone heard it yet?

    Archuleta’s voice soars at Hatch’s Women’s Conference

Keynote speaker » Senator Orrin Hatch praised young Murray singer, who offered charming self-deprecation and a song at Monday morning conference kickoff.

Neatly dressed in a black slim-fitted suit and a pair of black-and-white sneakers, David Archuelta nervously stepped onto the podium to welcome the crowd Monday morning as the keynote speaker at Sen. Orrin Hatch’s 25th Annual Utah Conference for Women.

“When at first I was asked to speak at this, I thought it was kind of funny,” Archuleta said, flashing his signature boyish smile. “A David Archuleta speech for me is like an oxymoron. I’ve never been good at speaking.”

Sen. Hatch met Archuleta in 2002 when the young singer sang the national anthem at a similar conference at Abravanel Hall. “I remember telling the audience after his performance that I firmly expected to hear his voice on stage someday,” Hatch said.

Hatch called himself one of Archuleta’s biggest supporters, saying he and his wife placed voting calls when the singer was competing on the seventh season of Fox’s “American Idol” competition.

In the singer’s speech, which clocked in at just over 50 minutes, the 18-year-old utilized self-deprecating humor and a stream-of-consciousness speaking style. “If you want to get better at something, you need to start in the first place,” Archuleta said. “Like speaking for me, but I didn’t avoid it today. I think that’s a good thing.”

Archuleta talked about his musical journey, which began when he was 6 years old, as well as the necessity of facing the future with optimism. “A lot of hard things can be going on in our lives, but there is always something great to be focusing on,” he said. “Even if you don’t see it in the right now, it’s amazing how things work out in the long run.”

At one point during the speech, he turned to Hatch to ask how much time he had left. “I tend to ramble, that’s the dangerous thing,” Archuleta admitted. “And it’s not just rambling, it’s like ‘what is this kid talking about?'”

Several fans at the back of the room shouted “sing, sing.” “I’m not done speaking yet,” Archuleta replied with shy confidence, drawing a roar of laughter.

After Archuleta told a story about his rise from singing in his Murray backyard with the neighbors’ dogs to releasing his second album, Hatch, too, joined audience members requesting a song.

“I’ll sing a verse, I guess,” Archuleta said, appearing somewhat frazzled at the impromptu request, before settling on “O Holy Night,” one of the traditional classics included on his just-released “Christmas from the Heart.”

The room went silent as the young singer’s voice soared a capella, drawing a standing ovation from the crowd.

“Boy, he can have a degree and Ph.D. in philosophy, is all I can say,” Hatch said as Archuleta walked off stage. “I have so much admiration for him, not only for his extraordinary talent, but his strong character and example. It’s a tough business to be in.”

  27. Kizzi's avatar Kizzi says:

KT – Thanks so much for the Women’s Conference info.

This is on Snarky’s right now – Frogcooke pasted together her tweets:

From Newangel on Twitter. Thanks for piecing it together, frog.
here’s a recap from newangel who went to the conference:

“1. He wore a suit!!!!!!!! With sneakers (navy and white). White shirt and black tie (I think we’ve seen it somewhere before).
Hair= AI spiky and perfect. Glowing skin…the usual. Smiling almost the entire 50 min. There was an AUDIBLE gasp from the audience when Sen. Hatch introduced him. You could hear & feel it. People leaned forward as he came out. He waved and smiled. HE STOOD ON A STEP TO B tall enough to reach the mic. Oh my heck!!! It was the cutest, funniest thing. He didnt seem to mind. He brought several pages of notes, but we think he didn’t end up using them much. He rambled, but also managed to give a coherent talk and cover several important points such as facing your fears by starting small and just getting started (like public speaking for him), being honest with yourself (he has to drag himself out of bed sometimes to go workout, but he doesn’t want to lie to himself ( cuz lying to yourself leads to lying to others–not good). He talked about writing in his journal and how he’s as proud of that as he is of all the touring and big career stuff that’s happened this year. Helps him organize his thoughts & helps him see how far he’s come. He is grateful for all the scrapbooks people have made and the articles people give him, but he also wants to make sure his kids hear his story from his view too. (He said KIDS!!!!)

Let’s see…what else? He told about how he got started singing. It blew my mind that some in the audience didn’t know about his paralyzed vocal cord (it was a much older crowd in general…)– like, you heard gasps when he told about it. Hello? Are we in UT or not? He told about when he won Star Search and he felt so bad for the girl who lost (b/c she was upset and crying), that HE cried and then the chaperone in charge of him had to try & tell him it would be OK for that girl and then the adult lady started crying!!!! EPIC!!!! He felt like he didn’t deserve to win in the semifinals and the 2 girls competing were better, so he resolved to do his best so they would look good (not sure how to phrase it– looking for a sports analogy. Kind of like you want the team that beats you to go on and win so you don’t look bad for losing to a lame team?? You know? Anyway, yeah. That bit was awesome. He didn’t talk about AI at all (running out of time by then) except to say that he prayed about trying out and although he didn’t think God would care about some 10th grade kid kneeling down in his room, he got an answer and felt really strongly that that was what he was supposed to do. Some people from the audience asked him to sing something and he said he didn’t come prepared to sing… well, the first time he said, “Sing? I’m not done TALKING!” and then the 2nd time at the end, he agreed to do it. Someone (rhymes w/ Cyndy) suggested “How Great Thou Art” and others suggested “Lovely” (?) and “Bubbly” & O Holy Night (he thought it was too early for Christmas stuff). Well, he first asked Sen. Hatch what HE wanted David to sing and Sen. Hatch said, “Whatever you’d like” and David said, “What YOU’D like me to sing is what I’D like to sing” (seriously????) and then he decided on “Angels” and then he said, “See this is something I have a problem with — making a decision. I’m just gonna make a decision here and stick with it!” and then he changed to “O Holy Night” and he closed his eyes and started and you could’ve heard a pin drop and I SWEAR a portal opened up straight to heaven when he sang. IT. WAS. PIERCING. Guh, I can’t describe it, but the concert in Nov. is going to knock everyone out. (OH! Forgot to mention, he talked about service & looking for ways to help people have a better day & how he was nicknamed “smiley boy” in school & a girl told him that him smiling & saying hi in the halls to her little sister really helped her and how he FLIPPIN’ VISITS THE WIDOWS IN HIS NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN HE’S HOME!!!!!!!! (Houston, that’s for you). I mean, tears here. TEARS!!!

So anyway, he sang a verse of “O Holy Night” and then everyone jumped up and gave him an immediate standing ovation. He hugged Sen. Hatch (two arms!) and I think also Mrs. H and then waved a couple of times to the audience and walked off. (Whew!)

    more from her after:
He said when he hears people say they think his smiling all the time is fake he thinks that’s funny b/c he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it most of the time. He did lots of cute jogging motions with his arms when he was talking about jogging. He said it’s “refreshing” (hee!) He jumped down off the box at one point to show us how he stood all shaking and nervous when he sang at his first public performance which was the UT talent search. He said he hated the sound of his voice so much he used to run screaming from the room and he thought people were lying to him cuz he was a little kid and they didn’t really like his voice. But, he said his love of music won out over his hatred of his voice and he performed anyway.

Oh! And he talked about singing the national anthem at the women’s conference a few yrs. ago when Patricia Heaton was the featured speaker “But I didn’t speak THAT time” and about how he was just at Abravanel Hall for the Cirque De Symphony thing and he went off on a little thing about that and how cool it was & asked if anyone else in the audience had been there and “wasn’t that cooool? I’d like to find out what their schedule is so I could see them again… Anyway….” Yeah, he got sidetracked a few times, but he did a good job.

He said a lot of really profound things. It was very sweet. He said if you’ve been through some hard times in your past, you can still have a positive life & eventually see how those things have helped shape you into who you are and you can relate to others who have problems and you can be the one who can help others with their challenges. He is very wise. So happy too. Just glowing and happy. I’m so proud.

It so amazes me the he is still surprised at being asked to sing… “I’ll sing a verse, I guess,” Archuleta said, appearing somewhat frazzled at the impromptu request” You think, by now, he would be mentally expecting this question.

WHY do I love this so much?

    • Angelica's avatar Angelica says:

I’ll take a stab at answering that. From shy, awkward, monosyllabic David on AI to this young man who can give a 50 minute speech with charm, wit, and panache.
He is becoming such a take charge kind of guy with a dang the fear I’m doing it anyway attitude.

Ya know what? He’s gonna get better at this. Trust the Archulator.

      Oh…and he’s adorable.

      • awestruck's avatar awestruck says:

“He is becoming such a take charge kind of guy with a dang the fear I’m doing it anyway attitude.” I agree Angelica

        Yes to confidence!

  41. Kizzi's avatar Kizzi says:

Happy – ah, the voice straight up without sauces or sides 🙂

Angelica – Thanks for the MGR – the hand on the hip and the loud sigh – he was having a blast.

And, you said “he’s gonna get better at this” – I agree. When I was listening to the mp3 of his speech last night while working on a emotionally charged crisis – a particularly difficult one – I was smiling away as I typed emails and prepared points for the numerous phone calls I will make today.

Hadn’t heard David speak for that length of time and it was so intriguing. And, for his first time out and 50 MINUTES at that – that is a lifetime in public speaking – it just tells me he enjoys speaking and performing and not just singing. That he had such a problem choosing a song was also really intriguing.

All that to say the thought that flashed through my mind was that he could run for office. I met Orin Hatch a while back in my lobbying days and a really good guy for a politician 😉 – and I had to laugh when I read that Hatch and his wife voted over and over for David when he was on AI. Got a visual of that and then a visual of David as a politician – and that is an interesting visual. 🙂

Pattycake04 has posted Part one of Six of David’s speech yesterday. Here is part one. Watch her youtube account as she uploads. She says it is taking a while.

  46. Angelica's avatar Angelica says:

Well if he runs for office he’s got my vote. Can you vote more than once?

Ahhh, I can’t wait to get home to see the videos. I’m so happy someone got him on video giving his talk. I listened to the whole 50 minutes last night and loved it. But just the little bit of video with him speaking before OHN showed so much more of his irresistable personality.

    Part 3

  48. TOfan's avatar TOfan says:

Thanks for the vids, guys …. Angelica, that MGR is priceless! (great idea, Awestruck!) And Kizzi, I thought the same thing as I watched it, David running for office.

Not that I’d want that, because he’d have to take a break from singing … please, no!!! … but what’s making me LOL is that when David came to Toronto for the A.I. Tour last summer, the first sign I was going to make for him read:

“David Archuleta for Prime Minister!!!” 😆

(Having a rough week, and that OHN is like penicillin … for life.)

  49. awestruck's avatar awestruck says:

Part 3 7:06 David – I would only sing if someone asked me to. Some audience members shouted SING. David – HA HA; I’m not done speking yet! Said with confidence and a bit of sass…

He is really into it – having fun with it.

  50. refnaf's avatar refnaf says:

Have only heardpart one of the speech so far. Glad that someone captured this….

  51. TOfan's avatar TOfan says:

Attention Ann Arbor peeps (Ms. Betsy?)… from Snarkies:

“I just wanted to let you know that before I bought my ticket today for the Ann Arbor show, I called and asked a few questions.

“First, this is the Ann Arbor symphony orchestra’s Christmas concert, and David will be a “guest”. He will sing for about an hour of the 2 hour show. Also, this is not an official “stop” on his Christmas tour, so Benton Paul will not be in attendance either.

“I just thought that you should know before people get the wrong message (that this is a full David concert and Benton will be with him). Thanks!”

IF I am on, just ask me to play them. Otherwise they will come around in the rotation (in order) eventually.

  55. Abrra's avatar Abrra says:

After watching all 6 parts of David’s talk I have a better understanding of him as a person. I saw a depth in his character that never comes out in all the fansite info I have read daily. David made me understand more about his life in 1 hour than I learned in the last 2 years from blogs or press. He spoke volumes when he said HIS story must be told by HIM.

Just the beginning of a glorious fruitful career, I am so pleased to be alive to experience the joy.

I am so exited to meet all my online buddies! Dawn arrives tonight. We will have a glorious ride up to Manchester in the sunshine with CFTH playing in the CD player.

So many people to meet!! refnaf I have the headset for you and a diet Dr. Pepper for your virgin taste buds! Hope to be carrying a Trick or Treat bag ( need a big one) with some surprises inside to share.

    Abrra

  56. awestruck's avatar awestruck says:

Abbra – Dawn ENJOY your first listen to CFTH. Safe driving everyone – as well refnaf, TOfan et al.

Abrra – the only thing I wish he had expanded on a little more was his time spent doing vocal therapy…

    Great PROMO, from Snarky’s:

David will be on a Fox Special on Thanksgiving Day! “Kaleidoscope” will be taped in Washington D.C. on November 16th, and will air on November 26th at 4 p.m. ET on FOX.

    About Kaleidscope:

Kaleidoscope is a completely unique Thanksgiving special on FOX. Imagine the beauty of Skating with legends like Scott Hamilton and Dorothy Hamill returning to the ice joined by Superstar Skaters: Kristi Yamaguchi, Nancy Kerrigan and Olympic Hopefuls: Rachel Flatt, Johnny Weir, and Brandon Mroz.

That beauty is merged with the excitement of Song as Mega Star Olivia Newton-John and GRAMMY winning song-writer David Foster perform some very special and magical musical numbers.

But the reason for Kaleidoscope is the brave message of Survivorship. This show was created to help raise awareness of the key issues surrounding women and cancer… to inform, inspire, and influence women to take action for their health.
Go HERE to learn more about the Kaleidoscope.

Thanks, Seattle! (Btw, David is not yet listed on the site. But from what I understand, Seattle knows someone involved with the event and they passed on the info. Woo.)

  58. refnaf's avatar refnaf says:

Abrra, you and Dawn are in for a treat, now of course I envy you (haha) having the cd to experience! Safe travels!! No tears!

Still have not been able to watch the entire speech…rrrrrr time

    SF, Dday FTW!

Lots to do today, getting ready for Dtime.

Awestuck, let the TV specials begin!!

I finally got to the last video early this morning. He is what he is – he is WYSIWYG for sure! An optimist, not afraid to state his weaknesses and his fears. Smiley Boy is such a descriptive label – 🙂

Charming & engaging. It appeared as if he spent some time understanding the nature of the event and organizing his speech.

In personality lingo, he is a huge, huge intuitive from my observation. What he calls rambling is really “intuitive leaps.” He sees a connection and jumps but doesn’t connect the listener – eventually he will segue the listener to those intuitive leaps he calls rambling.

Really fun to see how his brain works, his outlook on life, and the tools he uses to motivate and inspire himself.

No surprises there…just enhances the fan experience exponentially, heh?

  61. Kizzi's avatar Kizzi says:

Oh, and happy and I had dinner last night at a wonderful restaurant in a beautiful college town. We had a fantastic evening.

Such a blessing to make such good friends – like finding a piece of your soul mirrored in another.

Manchester tomorrow – I am looking forward to seeing everyone. Ciao Bella!

  62. TOfan's avatar TOfan says:

Thanks, Abrra! Have a safe music-filled journey!!

I haven’t had a chance to listen to his speech yet but when you say “He spoke volumes when he said HIS story must be told by HIM,” I couldn’t agree more.

Thanks for the book info, Ref.

Celebrity “memoirs” are typically ghostwritten but David has such a distinct “voice” (not to mention integrity) that I doubt that would be the case here.

My hope is that it will be one looooong classic David rambling blog post/liner notes-style book, with chapter headings that range from: “How to clean your fish’s dwelling” to “Even if you don’t know what your potential is, Someone up above does.”

Kizzi, “intuitive” huh? Is that the fancy, schmancy word for “spacey”? 😆

  63. refnaf's avatar refnaf says:

  66. Kizzi's avatar Kizzi says:

Oh, Yes, a HUGE INTUITIVE. Ever heard of Myers & Briggs Personality Inventory.

I’ve done this with work groups – there are 16 personality types – after everyone answers the questions in the inventory based on their preferences, we then map the results in a grid and we understand so much more how to work together and what to expect from each other and how each other communicates.

This is what Myers-Briggs says an Intuitive would say about their self:

I pay the most attention to impressions or the meaning and patterns of the information I get.

I learn best by thinking a problem through.

I’m interested in new things and what might be possible, so that I think more about the future than the past.

I like to work with symbols or abstract theories, even if I don’t know how I will use them.

I remember events more as an impression of what it was like than as actual facts or details of what happened.

The following statements generally apply to me:

I remember events by what I read “between the lines” about their meaning.

I solve problems by leaping between different ideas and possibilities.

I am interested in doing things that are new and different.

I like to see the big picture, then to find out the facts.

I trust impressions, symbols, and metaphors more than what I actually experienced.

Sound familiar – optimistic, looks to the future, big picture, adventurous, see certain events as “signs; relates to events in terms of what he felt rather than just the facts.

YEP, from my observations, he is an INTUITIVE in decks and decks of Spades!

  67. Angelica's avatar Angelica says:

He wrote a book? Even if written by a ghost writer, I don’t know how he finds the time. Yay for May!

Hey refnaf, Abrra, TOfan, Kizzie, Dawn et al…have a wonderful time with David and each other. We want all the news that’s fit to print. 😉
