Canada's Masterclass Lady (Rosanne Simunovic)

Excerpted from the Masterclass Lady website:

I have received numerous emails about David Archuleta’s outstanding and inspiring performance of “Contigo En La Distancia” (With You While You Are Away) at the 2009 ALMA Awards.

Let me just say that, if you have not seen or heard David’s Spanish number, you are in for a very memorable musical treat. David’s artistry continues to enfold and soars to remarkable heights during the performance of this song.

Oftentimes, the refinement of his technical skills astounds me – he never veers from the proper technical approach in his singing style. Yet, at the same time, his voice sounds fluid, relaxed, liberated and soulful.

His Spanish pronunciation is exquisite and meaningful. He feels every word, every nuance and, thus, is the key to David Archuleta’s musical gifts. He is a vocal narrator of the highest order and makes absolutely certain that his musical heart and passion reaches the centre of our soul.

And, did you notice the depth of his lower range at the beginning of the main section of the song, as he sang the words “No hay bella melodia”? The rich timbre of his baritone voice has definitely increased in volume – just gorgeous. This will continue to grow and flourish with each passing year.

In closing, the strong visual and aural presentation of this song was extraordinary.

And MCL continues …

Good morning all and thanks for (1) your wonderful comments and (2) for supporting a talent as incredible and singular as David Archuleta. He deserves global recognition and all of this and more will increase with time and continuous fan support.

Just a quick answer to FG who stated

Would you answer a two-part question for me? How rare is it, at age 18, to have such proper technique? Would you say that, based upon what we have seen thus far from David, that he is vocally as brilliant as, or will be, the male ‘greats’ such as Nat King Cole, Jonny Mathis, etc?

It is very rare indeed to hear an 18-year-old MALE singer who possesses such a strong technical hold on his vocal delivery. Yet, it is even more rare to hear someone so young who sings with such depth and maturity. David is truly special and his talent, as I have said so often, is extraordinary. He is a vocal prodigy.

I feel that David will, over the course of time, be remembered as “one of the greatest pop singers” of the 21st century.

ChristmasCDP.S. Our emails to Amazon.ca must have paid off! Canadians who’d like to pre-order David Archuleta’s “Christmas From the Heart” CD, can do so here.

The CD has only been available for pre-order on Amazon.ca for 24 hours and it’s already shot up to
#22 on the Top 100 list!

She is such a David fan and her reviews of his AI and post AI performances are a delight to read considering she KNOWS what constitutes great singing.

I remember last year pictures of her meeting David while on tour. I think it was Toronto?

Oh, and check out the video Snarky’s has posted title “Let’s go to a Concert” at about 0:50 – I had not seen this performance of TMH – energy, crisp, sharp moves. Rosanne is dead on – his destiny is to be “one of the greatest pop singers of the 21st century.”

This link will take you to a blog article that has an indepth look at making a music career after AI posted by AI 6 season contestant Chris Sligh – interesting read, both the article and the comments

Talk about getting the nitty gritty!

I really appreciate MCL’s reviews, what with my limited musical knowledge.

Yikes amazon.ca has the price at $19.99. But, just to know that it will be out the same day as in the States is great news. I have heard that buying at Best Buy… and similar places in the first week of release they often sell at a lower price.

Kizzi – I’ve read Chris’ blog and thought it direct and to the point. Interesting stuff, and perhaps David read his mind when he talked about continuing to cultivate the fan base generated by AI… though with David it is done with true warmth. David truly values his fans, nothing more, nothing less.

kizzi, thanks for the Chris Sligh link. Interesting post and comments. (Based on those comments, methinks Adam Lambert will win the next “fanatic fan” award! 😉 ).

I thought this was a telling point: “Idol does not break new artists. It is a marketing machine for 19E to break their artists.”

Awestruck, thanks for the Best Buy tip … a good one if you’re buying in bulk for gifting!!! lol

TOfan I am buying for Christmas, but did order 3 on amazon.ca. Price has dropped from this morning from $19.99 to $14.99. I will certainly buy some locally on the 13th so I have it right away!

awestruck & Tofan – there is an ET article about Chris’ blog and his “negativity” – gives me a step back view point about AI and media

I pre-ordered the Xmas CD from Amazon for the few ppl who use physical CD’s; but I’ll gift the digital from iTunes to a number of family & friends. I wonder what impact it will have on iTunes sales. Can’t wait to listen to it – especially the Spanish Riu Riu Chiu. That song is performed a capella quite a bit especially by choirs. I remember it from the Monkees in the 60’s and that performance from 42 years ago is on YouTube ——> http://bit.ly/3NBC1o 🙂

And Ave Maria, will be absolutely stunning – made for a pure, tender, soulfully romantic voice.
