Dear David,
Hope you are well.
Didn’t intend to do anymore blogging… wanted to cut down on that “noise” you mentioned in your last tweet. I sense you need some time and space to figure things out right now. But please know that beyond all the fan noise you are inundated with every hour of every day, there is a huge silent majority out there, very quietly in your corner.
They may not be tweeting or blogging or commenting in never-ending circles of drama, making demands, second-guessing, pushing you onto the highest of pedestals, or mercilessly teasing you *blushes* but merely living their lives and quietly letting you live yours.
They’re grateful for every note of music you’ve ever shared with us but not feeling entitled to anything more. Understanding it’s your life to live. That new music from you would be a gift but that it’s your gift to give, if you so wish, in your own time.
This silent majority is pretty dang big, believe it or not. But do be warned that they won’t be so silent if you ever grace us with a concert again. Just sayin’ 🙂

Thank you for showing some class. You said it best and no whining! David has so much on his plate with school, family, and song writing, he hardly has time for MKOP and tweeting to fans.
He deserves to be cut some slack until he has a handle on all these changes.

LOL…I also am a bit afraid for David if and when “the music does appear”…..I’m afraid it will be an avalanche of LOVE descending down on him! Was thinking about this today while listening to NMHF in my car… I will simply just be overjoyed at hearing such a beautiful sound again and such amazing music from that one-of-a-kind Voice…IF it is to be. I also was thinking, if he never shared another note (don’t think that’s gonna happen but if)…I’d be bummed, yes…but still grateful for it all.

Planning ahead–let’s make a pact to sit together at David’s next concert in the US or Canada. I say we can make it happen! (Oh wait, geesh, there I go “stalking” again when all i really want to do is see my buddy, listen to some great music, and jabber away.)

My passion to listen to David’s artistry hasn’t dimmed. It’s not dormant. Just simmering on the back burner so when David decides to share his gift, the flame will burn brighter than before.

Someday we will look back and see that this has been a big be part of our journey..
We have a place called “Cape Split” that is a peninsula of land that reaches out into the Bay of Fundy. People have been hiking it for years. It is a rough walk over tree roots and a path that twists every which way. I almost get dizzy walking it so I look down and make certain I don’t trip. When you come out of the woods into a big field, you are at the end which is phenominal with the water and cliff surrounding you. It is a rugged but awesome trip out the several kilometres. Only the rugged want to travel it. I faltered but kept going. A much loved place almost surprisingly so. I see this journey and think of it.

Random here. I was Googling for a gif of astonishment and this came up, lol:
Late to the discussion but just wanted to say so nice to see the “Silent Majority” recognized, thank you! (And I didn’t think you were trying to say those fans were “better” just overlooked.)
I think we ODD fans forget that we represent a teeny tiny portion of David’s total fan base. When you see the number of FB, Instagram & youTube likes, shares, etc. from all around the world, you realize that most of his fans are quite “normal” if you know what I mean. Like I might be with John Mayer, buying his new music, going to some of his shows, if I can, but not even following him on Twitter at all or knowing anything about his personal life.
So when I see fans on some of the more hand-wringing sites complaining about him distancing himself from “fans,” I think they forget that the ODD fans (especially the really vocal ones) are a microscopic minority, and a rather creepy obsessive one at that (if I were putting myself in his shoes). So why should he cater to a super-small group who he can never fully please anyway?
When you’re stuck in the loop of “super fan world” it skews your perspective. You think our little Lichtenstein is actually the size of Russia. It’s not. David has said before that what he originally wanted was to create music, perform then disappear again once he stepped off stage. So knowing there are fan sites out there obsessively chronicling every single moment of your life and your career for the past SIX YEARS, and fans discussing same 24/7, must seem bizarre to him. (Even more so after being away from it for 2 yrs.) Every one bases their point of view on their own experience and I just remember him saying about sitting behind Jason Mraz at a concert but not freaking out about it, he said something like “I’m not OBSESSED or anything.” Because THAT would be strange. 🙂
I kind of hope he is a little ticked off at all the tweets nagging him to do a vlog, tweet more, etc. because his songs with “attitude” (WFM, STR) are among my faves so maybe that vibe will inspire more.
I try to be honest with myself about how odd my ODD is, and how few of us there really are. And part of me is grateful to him for being gone for 2 years (and being quiet now) so I could get my life back.
I did not mean to rant, will go back to “silent” mode now. 🙂

So good to hear David’s voice! Sounds amazing, gospel with a country flair? I could see David doing various kinds of music, gospel, pop, some Spanish and who knows what else. His voice sounds so rich…and more mature, loving it. Not a huge country music fan myself but hearing David’s voice on this beautiful song….definitely sweet music to my ears!
