I know, I know, it’s almost impossible to pick just one.
I’m just so happy that (a) there are so many incredible moments to choose from (most of all, just how joyous and free and “welcome to your liiiiiife” David looked the whole time); and
(b) that the wonderful, excitable, spazztastic Asian fans shared so much with all of us around the world….
…from helping non-Asia fans get our hands on TOSOD ATE to uStreams to Twitterfests to picspamming and all those amazing concert videos that I never want to catch up on ‘cuz I never want it to be over.
Here’s a very, very short list of some random moments … I’m sure I left tons of things out, so please add your own in the comments.
*my personal favourite
P.S. How did I miss this interview???
I vote the whole dang thing was beyond epic. My mind still hasn’t recovered from the Jakarta shirt, Heaven, or Crazy. So proud of David and the band. All were totally awesome.
To celebrate the awesomeness of this tour, I have written yet another fun piece for my blog. This time I’ve used lyrics from all the songs performed in Asia to create a letter to David. Of course, I’d probably die if he actually read it. Check my blog for it and some other fun stuff. http://www.cacophonyvsharmony.blogspot.com
Well I had to pick the whole dang thing, cause what a great, fun 2 weeks this has been For David, the band, the Asian fans and us!! What we got this tour will keep us entertained at least till AZ!
This a long Weekend in Canada and I will be in the “outback” for a bit!! Have a great weekend everyone and Especially Abanana on your family vaycay!!!
I voted “the whole dang thing”…but gotta tell ya’…the love & adoration shown by David’s Asian fans just blew me away,..so it gets a “special mention” from me! :):):)
Marylee_DAangel ~for life!
haha, you guys, had a feeling that would be the most popular answer! π
Nice interview with Galaxie Blog HERE … fave part:
Will you continue to write uplifting music or will it be something different for the new material?
“I think it can be motivating by being able to relate to people. And it be as real as it can. Be as true to me as it can. Thatβs just another thing that Iβm looking forward to. Being able to have the music not just with the words Iβm saying but the way it sounds. Music says so much. Classical music doesnβt have any words but it still says so much. Iβm hoping to be able to really take time to define my sound, my music.”
…have a 7-hour drive tonight to the wilds of Northern Vermont and have my Asia Tour playlist all set! (complete with a bunch of versions of Heaven, Crazy, LDH and EWTRTW) … haven’t received my TOSOD ATE yet π¦ otherwise that would be there too! π
I caved & said the whole darn thing. But I also loved the flying roses on stage during STR. And David getting bleeped was hilarious! wasn’t sure it was real or not. Cmon, we’re talkind David here. lol
Too much to choose one favorite.
Lots of firsts though….
1st drumming
1st blown kiss to audience
1st of many new dance steps
1st shushing of audience
1st Crazy and Heaven cover in concert
1st time 3 encore songs
1st time 19 songs in one concert
1st time bleeped – bahahahahaha
1st time sang EAM live
Others??? I am sure there are more π π
The lyrics, “…you’re everything and more…” seem to be circulating round and round in my brain, π
P.S. TOfan, I’m in New England this week with family. Hiking and having a grand time in the mountains. Safe travels!!!
Had to choose the whole dang thing too, just so many great moments….all of it was pretty spectacular! David singing Heaven is definitely one of my faves though, along with so many others (David being bleeped, lol). So much to enjoy from this heavenly tour, thanks to David and his incredible fans.
Wow….looks like David is heading to Japan in August:
David Archuleta Live at the Futenma Flightline Fair 2011
Time Saturday, August 6 Β· 2:00pm – 10:00pm
Location MCAS Futenma
Created By MCCS Okinawa Entertainment
20:15 David Archuleta (American Idol/Pop Singer)
Brought to you by MCCS Entertainment and Armed Forces Entertainment.
David appears to be the last act performing at this fair. It is now listed on his OS too. David the world traveler, in Japan on August 6, he must be excited about going there to perform! They will love him.
Most memorable for me are the first Jakarta videos coming in, seeing the changes in David right off the bat. The dark chocolate vocals. And everything Kizzi listed, lol.
Interrupting the favorite moments thread to post a video that seems to have been made especially for you, Deb. π SOOO well done!
Betsy, love that video you posted too, so well done is right! So many great videos out there and I’m still finding new ones. Still catching up on the epic Asian tour vids, just amazing…each and every one of them! So many classic moments, so much of the real, raw David!
I think David’s Asian tour speaks volumes for the power of David’s music, his voice, his persona. He is so loved around the world, in countries where they speak their own language, practice their own culture. David has said that he wants his music to have no boundaries, no limitations and to connect with as many people as possible. Well, that is exactly what he is doing….his music is a language for all, no matter where you are, what dialect you speak, what your personal practices may be. Makes no difference when it comes to the language of real music….perfectly defined by
the one and only David Archuleta.
I’m sure there will be more of that on his next stop….in Japan!
it was a tough decision but i voted for “little drummer david” for the shock value. three years ago, i never would have imagined him doing something like that, lol. to add to the list, i must say that watching david glide, dance, & spin while wearing the indonesia outfit (billowing berry-colored shirt over white t-shirt) provided lots of great moments too.
desertrat, so true, quite a fewgreat “shock value” moments on this tour! lol π
From my 15yo granddaughter – she keeps looking for the performance picture that matches the 2008 Elle mag b&w photo π
So close this tour. She calls it: Kaboom: East Meets West 2011! π
kizzi, your granddaughter has a good eye … and a way with words! lol
*waves to all from Vermont* have been offline since Friday and see that David’s been doing auto repair, visiting ye olde book shoppes (love those!) and is going to Japan??? (Keiko, if you’re reading this, so happy for you!!!). Would be great to hear him sing “Save the Day” live someday.
…random aside… as I was leaving the office Friday about to head off on the looooong drive here, a guy I’d never seen before walked by wearing the exact same elephant-in-glasses T-shirt that David wore arriving in Jakarta… the guy wearing it probably wondered why I was smiling like a fool and staring at his shirt, LOL π
… betsy, LOOOOVE that Elevator vid! My love for that song knows no bounds, hahaha
peppertara, love what you said above about David in Asia, every word:
“I think Davidβs Asian tour speaks volumes for the power of Davidβs music, his voice, his persona. He is so loved around the world, in countries where they speak their own language, practice their own culture. So it appears that the event in Japan has been cancelled (or postponed) due to an impending Typhoon. Oh my… hope everyone in Japan stays safe. From David’s OS:
“Posted by support in Other Events, Tour news
Canceled: Futenma Flightline Fair, Okinawa
Aug 1, 2011
Unfortunately, the Futenma Flightline Fair in Okinawa, Japan, scheduled for this weekend has been canceled due to preparations for an approaching typhoon. We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience.
MCCS Okinawa Entertainment, the fair organizers, are working on rescheduling the event. We will post new information on this as soon as we can.”
TOfan, you must be having a wonderful time in Vermont….always wanted to visit those eastern states of the U.S. I usually end up heading south here…California way (which is very nice too).
What fun that you saw someone wearing that eye glasses elephant shirt, I got a kick out of that Tshirt and thought it was one of the cutest ones ever!
Kizzi…love what your gdaughter came up with…very nice!
Now to watch a couple more wonderful videos and then head out.
I’m so out of the loop, had not heard about the typhoon, yikes… hope everyone there is okay!
…also just noticed it’s the Crush 3-year anniversary … three years???? … has it really been three years since idol and since David’s very first single??? kinda freaks me out, tbh … I don’t think I’ve watched this video since then and it got me all verklempt … how excited he was, how much has happened since then, what a special time that was, and what a great song to have as a first single. I’ve been painting all day and listening to CDs (David’s and others, believe it or not) and Top 40 radio, and man, do I ever want to hear David on the radio again, even though it is dying. Hearing Crush in 2008 was such a rush (hey, that rhymes! lol) and he SO deserves to be on the airwaves. I heard a lot of songs today that were either crap or just okay, a couple that I would actually want to hear again…David belongs with the best of them. He just does. Happy Crush-iversary to David and every single David fan!!!
Forgot to mention David’s 3 yr anniversary or ‘Crushiversary’ yesterday, Yep, watched that sweet video again from Z100 and I will never forgot how thrilled I was for him, think all his fans were.
Re-visited his Crush video too….and yes what a great first single for David. Still a classic! I still hear it played every so often on local radio. David has so many great songs that should be heard on radio, it’s almost ridiculous that his music isn’t played in N.A. when so much mediocre stuff is played every day. Read that EAM is No. 1 on the charts in the Philippines! That’s how it should play out! Malaysia radio station has played all of David’s songs from TOSOD apparently, great fans in Asia, great DJs and promoters too. Guess things work differently over here.
One of my fave things from the tour for sure “the deluge of love from the Asian fans”. π
…been offline but managed to see this just now π (who the heck sounds this good in soundcheck??? David The Archuleta, that’s who π
Some amazing (& some hilarious) photos in Urbanite Asia’s FB album (thanks, betsy for the find!):

Another perspective – full stage view – Crush – Malaysia from CooKie251975 – 6:33 when David returns to stage
It’s hottttttt here in the South…whew….reminds me of a quote from my Grandmama (from Reverend Sydney Smith writings) – “Heat… it (is) so dreadful here, that I found there was nothing left for it but to take off my flesh and sit in my bones.”
—–> Yep, I’m sitting in my bones right now…lol
haha, stay cool, Kiz!!
From the sounds of David’s last tweet, he must be spending time w/the fam, taking some time off … sounds like I picked a good week to do the same, lol. Hope he gets a real break from it all, he certainly gave 210% on the Asia tour.
…speaking of, here are some amazing Malaysia soundcheck & other pics (16 pages worth!) from the lovely Doc Naree!

New post/thread!
