@DavidArchie: “It’s another one about hands”

Saw this vid on Tumblr and for some reason started to cry (I know, I know, this is not a sad song, lol)… I don’t know if it’s because My Hands is my “first love” D. song-wise or because he goofily says “it’s another one that’s about hands” by way of intro 😆 😆 😆 … but in any case it just got to me … oh, and when I watched it in youTube and saw my comment from 3 years ago on top, well, that totally did me in … so of course that set me off on a MH retrospective, here are my top faves… have you guys done that for any particular song lately?

1st solo tour, Idaho Falls, 2009:

“Birthday Barndance” (yes, that’s what the event was called 😆 ), York, PA, 2010

Altar Bar, also Oct. 2010

P.S.

the lovely @weiyannn just shared her fave MH with me on twitter: “the ‘time is gone!!!’ part just makes the entire thing for me and it makes me smile so much (:

P.P.S.

Breaking news: 🙂 The lovely @rhiminee just contributed her 14-song MH playlist HERE! So throw that alarm clock into the fiy-ah and press PLAY! 🙂 🙂 🙂

…and once again, a big Happy Thanksgiving to all those celebrating it!

Oh my! What am I doing still sitting here? Having an extended My Kind of Thanksgiving Tour, that’s what. That Idaho Falls clip caught me off guard. Idaho Falls was my first time to see David live, my first time to meet other fans, and my first time to hear one of the alternate endings to “My Hands” in person. Oh boy, the memories! I still have a picture of David’s tour bus (completely empty at the time) on my phone. ROFL

Hubby and I sat in the second row, an unexpected VIP bonus for buying tickets early (like a nanosecond after they went on sale). Then, when David sang his second single, he pointed right at me so I would know that he was a little too not over me. I thought, “Same to you, buddy. This could be forever.”
Not many weeks before the Idaho Falls concert, this review was posted at Bllboard.com:

“The soulful “A Little Too Not Over You” follows David Archuleta’s No. 2 Billboard Hot 100 breakout ballad “Crush.” “Ay ay ay” chants cement the track’s chorus, and a sweet acoustic strum and floating melody deliver a fitting contrast to the “American Idol” runner-up’s soulful conviction, while a climactic falsetto at the bridge takes this one home. Here is the voice of a new generation: With his emotive pop consistency, Archuleta will touch hearts as he breaks the charts.” —Michael Menachem

I thought David’s rise to the top would be swift and easy. That has not been the case, but I don’t regret the journey, not one bit. I don’t think David does either. The evidence from the many performances of “My Hands”—different and amazing every time—is just one more reason to be here in 2014.

ahh! I totally thought of you when I watched that Idaho Falls vid and wondered if you were there… 2nd row, wowza! Love that reviewer too… I still see lots of tweets from non-diehard fans about ALTNOY (2nd only to Crush), which makes me happy ‘cuz it’s such a great song… “he pointed right at me so I would know that he was a little too not over me. I thought, “Same to you, buddy. This could be forever.”” 🙂 🙂 🙂

Good Golly Ms. TOfan. A “My Hands” par-tay! Woo Hoo!

One of my favorite performances of MH was in Pittsburgh. The Snarky ladies were sitting right in front of me that night 😀 The a capella ending is pure serotonin.

Hugs and Love to all at SAz!

Like you Tofan My Hands is my first love D song. Thank you for posting these amazing MH performances. As Archugeezer said “different & amazing everytime”. Reminded me again why I LUVVVV it. Love it, love it!!!

okay guys, this is way cool… I got curious about how David started out at his first live perf of MH (at the Virginia Beach 1st stop on the first solo tour) and even though he clutches the mike stand for dear life, lol, it’s SUCH a different vocal than he developed later in the tour… for one thing, there’s a backing track of himself doing the low part of the harmony (David +David = win/win) that they must’ve dropped in later shows ‘cuz I don’t remember that at all … and in the a cappella part he plays around with some really cool more laid-back riffs there, AWESOME!!!

…then 3 shows later he takes his first steps away from the mike stand and holds the mike out to the audience for the first time….

    k, I’ll stop now, hahahaha

Ahhh Lancaster – good times! I remember I had held back from watching any of the vids from the shows before Lancaster because I didn’t want to be spoiled (except ZG, pretty sure I couldn’t resist that one haha) so I had nooo idea he was even doing that acapella ending thing at all and was totally blown away by its awesomeness! 🙂 Seriously good times!

This isn’t MH but it’s “another song about hands” lol … it’s a Sayreville soundcheck vid I came across on my trip down MH memory lane (have never seen it!)… cool to hear him sing only the low harmonies:

Love MH, one of my faves from the first album. All these videos are so great to watch. Oh how that song has evolved (along with David). Remember seeing David sing that live in Seattle (and the only time), it was soooo….sweet.
“It’s another one about hands” always loved that. 🙂
