Can we talk about this picture??

… it kind of slipped under the radar because other stuff (like this aMAZing cover) was happening.

BUT COME ON!

David’s at the fence, desperate to come through… or stay out… or climb it… or watch a fox frolic on the other side… I don’t know, I just know he looks so longingly through the chain link.

Like he’s caged… or finally free… or yearning for the Honduras food truck on the other side….

Can’t you just see this as a single cover for Upset With Me… or Desperate… or a cover of Don’t Fence Me In….

Or the poster for a Sal Mineo/ James Dean teen-incarceration musical featuring the most beautiful, yet tortured soul to ever sing a note…

It’s not a depressing musical though, it’s hopeful, ever-hopeful… ‘cuz that’s who David is… always seeing the darkness before the dawn, the light within, all the colours of the rainbow… oh wait, it’s in black and white…

Okay, scratch that… he’s a young intern at the coal mines just taking a much needed breath of fresh air above ground at the end of a long shift and grasping the fence for dear life…

Or a young refugee aching to break out of the camp and reunite with his long lost love, Totora, so they can skip joyfully back to the old country after peace is declared and rescue their emotional support Pokemon along the way…..

Those eyes, though… those eyes… they say, “Save me!” “Heal my soul!” “Help me get my cap back, it flew over the fence!”

I’m still on antibiotics and may have a fever, so I have no idea what I’m talking about.

But great picture, eh? What do you guys think of it??

    David is super photogenic. Remember back in the day when he used to destroy pictures of himself?. He’s come a long way baby.

    I tried to find out he pic of him by a fence back in the day from some teen mag but my search skills don’t exist!
    Gurl you always make me smile with your posts…. as does David and his voice!!

    I find find the new B&W fence pic to be hard to look at. The depression in those eyes seems opposite to the joy in his recent performances. It’s like all the joy ran out.

    But your guesses made me smile and that’s very healing. Hugs!

    i think this speaks to his underlying acting skills. the photo, on its own without knowledge the purpose and setup is all kinds of wonderful. i have nothing more to say except that it’s captivating as all heck.

    Why does he mourn so?

    My first reaction. Let there be joy in his heart, but then but then. If it just drama then wonderful. He has me wondering so the picture is successful!

    Haha, well I think we all agree that the picture is pretty stellar. Yes, looks contemplative to me. The man is definitely photogenic! I think it would be great if he did Broadway someday too, he seems to think he can’t act but I beg to differ. I remember the sad scenes in N,A. too, had me in tears and his angry scenes were so on point. His humour and his natural self go a long way too.
    Well…..singer, actor, model…. it’s all pretty good. 🙂

        They are already selling ticket reservations and VIP spots. You have to call the number shown in the link. All 40 VIP spots available. The venue seats 1700. They have season ticket holders who get tickets first.

    I like the black and white photo. David looks mature and serious. Great angle of his facial features.

    Enjoyed all the videos. Wish I knew Spanish more, and it also doesn’t seem to matter as I am caught up in the music and voice, as always.

    Hi I’m super late to this post but I love the fence picture! I feel like sometimes we fans (and I include myself in this) are guilty of only wanting David to feel happy — as in he should be happy all the time. That’s only done on our part with caring hearts but no person can do that nor should they. While in my hopes I always want him to be happy, in my head I know he needs to feel all emotions in order to truly enjoy the super positive ones. It actually kind of reminds me of what he says before singing Aiming For Hope, that you can’t see the stars without the night. You have to be in the darkness to really appreciate their shine. So yeah. He’s pretty eloquent, that guy.
    I’m here getting all philosophical but probably he was totally just doing a pose for this picture lolololololol. But my sentiment is the same nonetheless 😉

      you are so right, Tina! And I actually think this expression is probably more reflective of the “real” David (introspective, thoughtful, even sad sometimes), than that super smiley expression in those older fence pics.

      Or maybe he just caught his sleeve on the chain link. 😆 😆 😆

    David does fantastic interviews now. Gone are the days when he’d get tongue tied. He looked great too. I loved how at the end of his Facebook live interview the interviewer called it Motivational Monday. That’s our David!

    Maybe we can all come together and ask David to come here in Toronto for a full concert as well.
    The last time i saw him here were in Chum Fm
    interview with Marlyn Show.
