Wow, look at all those tour dates! Really happy for fans in the east (and for David). Looks like some very cool, intimate little venues in some areas too. A little far for us westerners but awesome news!!

I’m happy for the east coast fans that have been waiting for David to come to their area. It was fun to see all the guesses about David’s exciting news. I thought it would be the tour, but had hoped it was a livestream of his Peru concert! There were many that guessed he would be announcing his engagement. I was pretty sure he wouldn’t announce that to his fans in such a public manner.

Added an interview with a Peru newspaper to the end of the post, along with some translated highlights, courtesy of the lovely and amazing peeps at Archuleta Peru!

Also, a video message from David in Spanish… now, did he record this before or after testing the stretchiness of his Peru pants? 😆 :

I absolutely love this East Coast tour!! I already know of one friend (not a fan site regular) who is going to get to see David for the first time live in Richmond. I’m in planning to go East and see my brothers and their families as well as David. I’m going with a Disney fandom friend in Portland, some very very very dear friends in Hartford (one I’ve never met!), and I’m wondering if I’ll know a soul in Northampton. It’s awesome–okay, I wish it weren’t during winter in New England.

Deb, I love your banner!!! It is new, right? It’s perfect for SnowAngelz. ❤ ❤ ❤

Translation of this interview via Google Translate 😆 :

The American singer and composer, David Archuleta, arrives in our country to offer a unique concert within the Orion Tour. The singer of Honduran origin will give a single concert this December 1 at the Green Arena. Tickets are on sale in the Wong and Metro Teleticket modules.
A few days after his presentation the finalist of ‘American Idol’ answered some questions:

How does your love for music arise?
I started to have a connection alone, my dad was created in musicals, so when he was 6 years old he taught me Les Misérables, I could not stop watching him. One of the first songs I learned was in Spanish although I did not speak it very well, but my mother always listened to Selena and I learned ‘Como la flor’.

Who do you admire in the musical field?
A strong influence was Michael Jackson, with my brothers we learned the songs and the steps of the Jackson 5, so is Stevie Wonder.

How was the American Idol experience?
It was amazing because I was only 16 when I started, there were more than 30 million people watching every week. It was very interesting for me to share because it was always important to have a message: how can I give a little inspiration to the people who are listening? I worked a lot to have songs with that kind of messages.

Did you get stuck in the second place?
No, for me there was no difference. I did not think I could sing well, for me it was very surprising because I thought there were more people who could sing better than me. Staying until the end was a great blessing for me because I thought that although I do not deserve it I will do the best, I will try to give something because I know that God put me here to use my talent to honor him. Signing with the label, having concerts, everything was that to be in the program, I am very grateful for that.

Why did you decide to go as a missionary to Santiago de Chile?
We (the Mormons) when we are 17 years old can go out to be missionaries for two years and we do not decide where we are going, they assign us and I had the desire to do the same, I felt it in my heart and we have to follow it. At the time I did not understand the mission well, but I knew that God was guiding me and it is amazing what I learned, it was time with my ‘celestial dad’ and me. There is no greater thing that I have done in my life than that mission, because I could be a man of God and put him in the first place.

How important is religion in your life?
For me it’s all really, I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who call them Mormons. When I decided to audition on ‘American Idol’, I started with a prayer and felt the hand of God in my life saying “you have to learn something and I will guide you”. I was like someone who did not do anything right (laughs), or sports, or mathematics and I did not think I could sing so well and participate in a competition. I am a believer that God takes the simple things and with it we can make it great for the benefit of others and that is why I sing.

Have you heard Peruvian music? Any artist you admire?
I know Latin music, but I do not know its origin, without being from Puerto Rico from Peru or Argentina. But I do know Gianmarco and Eva Ayllón.

    What’s next for David Archuleta?
Last month I launched a new production Postcards in the sky. Now I am composing songs in Spanish, so I hope the other year to be able to release an album, it would be my first 100% production in Spanish.

Would you like to start a family? Have children?
Of course. I’m just waiting for the right person to arrive to prioritize the time to have a family and it’s something I really want. I am from a big family, I have 4 brothers, so I would like to have more than 3 children.

What expectation of your presentation in Lima?
It’s the first time I have a concert in South America, I’ve felt a little anxious. I’m excited, I have many Peruvian friends, my mom loves Peruvian food. When I lived in Chile there were many missionaries from Peru and they cooked chili pepper and ceviche, I liked it a lot. I’m excited because they told me that when I get to Lima it will be something else.

Are there plans to travel to the interior of the country after the concert?
We were planning to do more things, but it seems that we will not have much time, but I hope we can know some parts of Lima.

What message do you leave to your fans?
I am very happy to share my music with you. I hope you can come to enjoy and feel the power of music. We are all going to have a good time together.

Nice interview with the Peru newspaper, thanks for posting that TOfan. I imagine it will be a great experience for David and his audience, first concert in S America and Spanish music….ah yes!
(He must take his stretchy Peru pants with him)..:)
Happy for folks that will be seeing David on his East Coast tour early next year, fun times.
Love the banner too! One of my favourite caps of David’s. 🙂
