Beautiful! Glad he got to go & check it off his Life list.
So, I’m thinking my latest East Coast DA tour campaign agenda is to tweet him possible beauteous tour stops from Maine to Florida and everywhere in between!
New England shoreline is beautiful in summer, and the seafood is great! Heck, he’s mentioned loving the fall here before, and well, Christmas can be picture-post-card too, with plenty of skiing & snowboarding…
Stay tuned for more ideas, complete with venues, David. πŸ™‚
Of course, on another note, there is always ….#Nashville! 🎡
This seems like a no-brainer…hoping it’s in the works for sometime soon.

  3. peppertara says:

A beautiful picture from David. Yes, Oregon has some beautiful spots, glad he has time to sight see a little on this tour. Looking forward to seeing him soon!
I think David will be adding more tour dates later on and most likely some in the East. πŸ™‚

I think so too, ‘cuz I’m an eternal optimist.
That said…one can only understand why we are antsy ova’ here! 😏
      …and couldn’t hurt to “promote” a little bit. πŸ™‚

Some amazingly beautiful scenery and objects in that photo! Just sayin’! ‘Nuff said!! πŸ™‚

  5. amb4da says:

TOfan…just fyi…twice from this page, without my touching anything…I’ve been redirected to I don’t know where, but looked kinda fishy/ominous…I didn’t stay on it long enough to read it all and didn’t want to click or scroll…said something like “soft internet” whatever that was, on a big black screen.
First time I wondered if I’d touched anything randomly while scrolling, second time I wasn’t even touching the screen. And it wasn’t any of the ad sites you have here either. hm? This had never happened before this post.
    Anyone else get that?

  6. TOfan says:

I’m adding some of Shelley’s FB videos from the Bend show to the post but I’m not sure if you can see them if you’re not linked with Shelley on FB (hopefully she’ll make these babies public, wowza!)

  7. amb4da says:

Yea..says “no permission to view it.” 😦
*Waves like a mad-woman…”Hey Shelley ya wanna be friennnnds?!!”πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™†
….meanwhile, waits for public vids πŸ’. Been reading highlights on Twitter…seems like VIP and acoustic song during tech troubles, and banter about “Say Me” all were memorable.
Happy for all who went & enjoyed.

  8. peppertara says:

Whoa, thanks so much Deb for posting David’s cover of Fast Car, couldn’t watch it previously. Wow, amazing cover by David! Such a great song and absolutely love David singing it, gorgeous. What a treat! Got caught up in the loop watching it.
Nice little interview with David and Fox, had to laugh when they said tickets to his show start at $123! He’s well worth it of course but tickets are very reasonably priced. πŸ™‚ Hope he has a great show in Sacramento.

  9. amb4da says:

“David Freakin’ Archuleta” slaaaaayyyyed “Fast Car.” wow. Voice..sounded so effortlessly strong, fluid & beautiful. ❀️ Great fit for his voice. He’s always known how ta pick ’em.

met a mom in grants pass (we had given her daughters our front row seats) and she was stuck with us. of course, pre-show we chatted about you-know-who and it slipped it out that i may have been to more than one show. after the show, she told me she didn’t understand why a person would go to more than one show of a tour but then admitted that she got it after seeing him live. #converted

  12. janey79 says:

one of her daughters in the front row came back to us afterwards, sobbing and joyful and blurted out she now wanted to go on a mission after seeing D’s light (yes, she was LDS). through her tears we talked about his light and how he has that affect on lots of people, not just members of his faith (although we’re not likely to go on missions, but you know what i mean). her mom wanted to know if most of his fans were LDS (she assumed so) and I told her no, i think the majority are not LDS but appreciate how true he stays to his faith and he walks the walk and how he changes people for the better is undeniable.

  13. janey79 says:

we later steered them towards the bus and told them we would soon be out (grants pass). our “crying gal” continued with her tears for a good long time but eventually stopped by the time david came out. they couldn’t thank us enough for the seats and the insider voice of experience that led them to meet david, hugs all around and a million more thanks for making their night we finally parted ways. but the real thanks goes to david.

PS. fan interaction and sharing david is a major part of the concert experience. my best memories are of bringing those into the fold. it will never get old.

  14. janey79 says:

more on grants pass: we met two lovely gals in line and they ended up sitting in front of us. one was a little disappointed when she learned we had given our front row seats to someone else and their other sister was already in the front row. i assured her (the voice of experience) that her seats were prime and not to worry, she had the best in the house. of course, i was right (lol). david talked to the girls throughout (memory fail on the details, sorry!) more than i have ever seen him do and he sang SBL with them. they were terrific fans, dancing and singing and hoopin’ and a hollerin’ like us old timers. they wanted to go up to touch his hand so i told them when i tell you to go, GO. when the time came, they hesitated but i insisted, they bolted to the front and made contact (have i ever steered anyone wrong?)!

We later pointed them to the buses and waited out the hour with them. They never let on but a quick FB search later told me they are both professional singers themselves. i think D sensed that, more likely heard them and is why he was so engaging with them (their were both absolutely gorgeous which might have helped a little, lol).

  15. janey79 says:

    the end.

    • TOfan says:

SO SO SO awesome, Janey! Love every detail, thank you so much for sharing! You (and David, I guess, lol), made those peeps day!!! <333333

  16. refnaf says:

    (((((Janey))))))
Sounds like such a terrific experience….. so glad you got to see him!!!!
The stories you tell are so sweet!!! Can’t thank you enough for sharing!!!!

FYI his Fast Car has slated me…. really____________________

  17. peppertara says:

Janey, thank you for sharing your concert experiences and for periscoping, so very much appreciated! Love reading recaps and really enjoyed what you shared. Fan sharing, yes so memorable and of course the concert experience, even more memorable. Glad you had those experiences and had such a great time, David’s fans are some of the best!
Thanks so much and “post-part-him-depression” haha, yes I get it! Sounds like you had a wonderful time though, in so many ways. Good of you to share!

  18. janey79 says:

most memorable moment and why we are fans for life:

During the tour opener in red bluff a young girl with down’s and her dad were in front of us. she danced and clapped along with the rest of the audience. her dad stayed seated so i elbowed him and insisted he get up whereby he showed us some serious moves of his own. they were many fans up front throughout the show and during crush the young girl ran up on her own, not even mentioning to her dad where she was headed. she was behind the 3 rows of girls and couldn’t reach the stage. david spotted her and came to her, getting down on a knee and singing directly to her. he reached out his hand and waited until they connected. it took a minute but he just waited with his outstretched hand. once her magical moment happened she turned back to her dad with the biggest smile – mission accomplished! we were all up and singing and dancing anyway but our entire section shared in her joy by screaming and clapping even louder. nothing like shared joy and it’s what keeps me coming back for more.

ps. david was asked in yesterday’s vip what his favorite lyric was on the new EP. he responded with this lyric form up all night. and this is exactly how i feel at his shows:

Hear my heart, and there’s an answered prayer
Feel the magic in the midnight air
Breathe it in, I wanna pass it on
The strength of finding somewhere you belong

  20. janey79 says:

my vip question (y’all can thank me later, haha):
david, have you considered letting the band members have longer solos during their introductions? and kari immediately asked, what band member asked that??? LOL.

D said they talked about it and yes, the guys can do what they want. they were all sitting nearby and one of them said, it’s not our name on the marquee, but D continued on and said they were free to go as long as they wanted, it was up to them, he was ok with whatever they decided. i think last night is just a hint of what’s to come – they all played longer and showed off some real skills which I know they all have. Chad did a brief impression of stevie wonder and then hit the nord, and of course, brady went for it on his electric guitar. the drummer held back, played a bit then stopped and decided, what the heck and went for it again. the bass player showed off too. i honestly think there is more to come from these guys as the audience clearly showed them the love.

    • TOfan says:

that’s so awesome! I bet it really got the crowd going! Well done, J.!!! *applauds*

    • mlpb3 says:

I know a lot of people like band solos but I always thought of them as a way for the main event to take a time out. I think it was very respectful for whomever band member said ithat their name is not on the marquee. I remember Mike and Alex on the first tour would ham it up behind David as if to draw attention to themselves. These guys are not that way but David’s answer was kind of telling. They can’t do what they want. Everything they do is with his OK. I’m sure everything is planned precisely. He almost says the same thing every concert because he’s thought it out. I’m sure they have input during rehearsals Each of those guys has their own thing where they can have more individual time. Sorry for the long speech. Just something I’ve thought about before.

  21. janey79 says:

this tour is different in so many ways. the people who are showing up are so grateful and enthusiastic because David has not been in these areas before. some of these folks have waited 10 years to see him. he is clearly not forgotten and still beloved as if season on idol ended yesterday. the most common theme was how did i hear about the show, how random it was that they even heard about it in the first place and afterward, how the wait was worth it, there is no more joyous crowd on the planet.

and to this day, i cannot think of an artist who is enjoyed so enthusiastically by folks 8 to 92 (as were the little girls dancing their hearts out last night and Betty with her walker that D called to from the stage).

    • TOfan says:

that is so true… and I know he’d get the same reaction if he came back to Toronto, or anywhere in the East really… ‘cuz I’d say the majority of the peeps that came to the AI7 Idol Tour show here were there for David, judging from the deafening cheers he got, and if word got out that he had a concert anywhere near here, people would flock, I know they would

I hear what you’re saying about the random way people are finding out about it, I saw a comment on his latest FB post just today from someone who was sad they hadn’t heard there was a show in Sac because they live there… they said, “I need to pay more attention”… I felt like replying, “No, D’s team need to get the word out!” LOL

      • janey79 says:

i read a comment from a sac local saying they had missed him for the second time. not everyone is as connected in the fan base as we are who literally have dozens of people looking our for each other all the time. and so often the official site is not updated in such a way that the casual fan can easily get info. we also ran into that in grants pass. we went on a boat trip on the rogue river (so much fun!!!) and only one gal knew about it and she was going that night. the others we talked to were like what???? david has a show, here??? tonight??? in town (seriously, 3 blocks away)??? the night before there had been a street fair in the same district with local music on every street corner. handing out flyers would have had that theater filled to the brim. maybe it’s time to bring back the street teams.

        • TOfan says:

great idea! if he ever does come here… (a) I hope I’m still walking and (b) if I am, I plan to do my own marketing to let peeps know he’s here… after I have my own tix of course πŸ˜†

        • missbianca says:

Street teams are a good idea. Sometimes it doesn’t take much–I remember Taterzen hanging posters in Idaho. I have heard more than once that the event PR is the responsibility of the venue, but it does seem to me that others could be much more proactive. More promo of services like bandintown along with David’s social media as the way to find stuff out? Ticketmaster and venue emails are the way I find out stuff in my area.

    Great interview!
    http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2017/jun/08/a-reinvigorated-david-archuleta-brings-new-music-t/

    My fave bits:

Archuleta said he’s grateful for all that came from β€œIdol,” but he felt empty, and realized that though he was constantly being told how amazing and loved he was, that praise and love was conditional.

β€œIt’s like β€˜We love you as long as you’re making us money,’ or β€˜We love you as long as you’re the hottest thing right now’ or β€˜We love you as long as you’re attention-worthy,’ ” he said. β€œYou start basing your worth and your identity and who you are on what everyone else thinks of you.”

    On his mission:

β€œHelping other people, teaching them about God, teaching people how to pray and praying with them, visiting them and being there always for someone else completely filled me,” he said. β€œI just thought β€˜This was what I needed. This is the secret to life I couldn’t find.’ ”

About songwriting after he almost gave up:

β€œIn that moment I realized I can write about how I’m really feeling and I don’t have to put on a facade and wear a mask while I’m on the stage …,” he said. β€œThat was scary because I’m not used to that. I’m used to showing what the record label and the people I worked with always told me to show.”

β€œ β€˜Numb’ is about β€˜OK, I’m going to take a second chance, but I have to do it differently this time or else I’m going to go back to feeling numb,’ ” he said. β€œI decided I’m going to do this and I always want to lift people up… Music has to have a purpose now for me and that’s really motivated me moving forward.”

    About new music:

Archuleta wrote β€œOrion” as part of a series of three EPs he hopes to release. The next one is scheduled for August, though, if he has his way, it will be out sooner. And with more freedom regarding his own music, he’s also contemplating forgoing the final EP for a full album.

β€œBefore, it was like β€˜Who’s going to win, stage David Archuleta or personal David Archuleta?’ I was saying β€˜OK, I’m going to let the stage one win because that’s the one that people see most.’ It was like β€˜No, I understand who I am now and that I can dare to be me.’ ”

    final comment (as if)

    glorious.

i noticed during glorious as david parted ways with the audience, he made a point to connect with every single person, one on one by singing directly to them (as much as humanly possible). it was an incredible thing to watch as he made eye contact with so many.

he was rewarded last night by a show of cellphone lights waving in the dark. i can only imagine what that looks like from the stage.

what a tender way to say goodbye. what a perfect way to end the show.

  26. emmegirl14 says:

Thanks for the recap Janey, enjoy hearing the inside scoop!

Fast Cars, what can you say really – he is the first artist I ‘ve listened to where I consistently
prefer their cover over the original. PreDavid I was never a big fan of covers.

Looove the clip of Invincible, the nuances in his live singing! Prefer his live performances over recorded of literally every song he has done. Ironically I think Crush is the only one I prefer the recorded version.

Had a feeling he was saving Higher Ground for this tour 😁 And boy was it worth the wait!!!
    He just kiiiillls it!!

Thanks to all for the videos!

  27. missbianca says:

Janey, your “voice of experience” concert report is just the best! You have such a way with people and with words. The joy and exhilaration just bounced of the page. Thank you thank you thank you thank you!

And Deb, thank you for pulling together all these delightful tidbits. Is it just my *cough* year old eyes, or is David better looking than ever? And clearly happier and more relaxed and just as sweet as ever. He should try interviewing someone else for a change–might be a worthy audition. I would like to see more D on TV.
