Wow, I thought this FB live was night-and-day from the last one (although I did love seeing his fake plant, sweet piano and tchotchkes πŸ™‚ ) … David seemed so relaxed and happy with it all this time. SO nice to see.

And I loved what he said about the power of music. Every word.

And that part of Up All Night that he wrote first, in the middle of the night… my favourite part. No word of a lie.

I remember having a discussion on Twitter waaaaaaaaay back about whether or not David should write his own songs. It might’ve even been before TOSOD came out.

I said YES! That, just from the way he improvises when singing that you could tell he has a special way with melody.

But a couple of others at the time were adamant that (judging from “Falling” I think) that if it took a long time for him to finish something, he wasn’t meant to be a songwriter.

Ha! I say. Ha!

To see him be so excited about his new stuff makes me even more excited to hear it. He’s got excellent taste in music, as we know. And I don’t think he’d be so positive about it if he didn’t just feel in his bones that the songs were true to him but, even more than that, just good, solid songs that can stand up to anything else out there.

So what did you guys think???

p.s.

Did anyone catch his IG live??

I never catch these things live, was great to see it later. What a wonderful live chat, Q&A that he did Lots to share and I loved his talk about the song, song writing, music, etc. Really open and heart warming and yes he did seem happy to share. I’ve always thought he was a good songwriter, even way back when! Today he’s even better, has had some years to mature, experience more of life and express himself very nicely and beautifully.
Always touched by his people stories and yes, of course he would stop and help someone by the side of the road (did have the thought that I was glad that it was a decent, trustworthy person that he was helping out late at night on a deserted area of the road) !
Great chat from David and lovely sunset too. When it rains it pours on social media, yes…nice! πŸ™‚

Thanks for letting me know about FB live.
I came out of years long FB hiatus just to watch it. I too loved what he said about power
of music. What he says about music is exactly
    what his singing does!
It was really nice to see him look so happy!
    Is he for real??!!

Am I the only one who thinks he could sell ad space on the brim of that hat?
Of course I loved it all, the more he does the better he will get. Love to see him answer more questions, but happy to see him so thoughtful. He’s a keeper.

Sheer luck that I caught David’s FB live at the beginning. It was like having him show up in your living room, just chatting and sharing and sincerely enjoying your company. I love how excited he is about the new music (me too!). He wanted UAN to surprise us and was so pleased that it did. I loved the background story too, including his giggle when he mentioned frog hunting, like he couldn’t believe it himself.

I could never say enough about his empathy and compassion for others. It is simply in him. David the Good.

“It was like having him show up in your living room, just chatting and sharing and sincerely enjoying your company” EXACTLY that!

the lovely & amazing @rhiminee posted the clip of David talking about why he called the EP Orion HERE

def. go back and watch… it struck me that after all of the speculating fans did about the title, David (as per us.) takes it to an even deeper, more personal level… hunting and fighting those “beasts of fears and the demons inside you” … to hear him say he feels strong going forward with this music gives me strength, you know?

Reminded me of something a former singing teacher told me, “Feel the fear and do it anyway”… easier said than done BUT HE IS DOING IT! *sniff*

p.s. in her tags, Tina describes his voice as “honeymeade”… best. description. ever.

I caught the last half live of David’s Facebook Live chat. There was a Twitter entry by FOD to run to David’s Facebook Live and, of course, I did. I watched the entire thing later last night. What a gem. I agree with all that has been said about it. The good news is he indicated at the end that he’s going to do more on Facebook Live and asked what he should do. Immediately several people commented that he should sing. Obviously we would all love that, but I do enjoy David just chatting with us like we are there with him. I too think he is a good songwriter with a little help from his songwriting friends. I do remember the debate about whether he should write or not. Most artists do write with co-writers in today’s music scene, but I’m not sure how many artists actually contribute much to the song. They do it to get songwriting credit on the song. David truly contributes to the songs he co-writes.

I really loved David’s face book live . First of all, because he seemed truly happy and excited for his new music. Secondly, he seemed to be truly interested in his fans and what we think. Thirdly, he was so open and honest about his thoughts and feelings. And lastly, he said his desire to communicate what is important to him comes through the power of music. So that makes me think we will be enjoying David and his music for years to come !! :):):)

Grammyj & oliveoil, LOVE both your comments … esp. this:

“that makes me think we will be enjoying David and his music for years to come” yes, please!!!!! πŸ™‚

    Lol, TOfan the shoe freak!!!

    I loved the FB live!
So much insight! What he said about music
being able to break you loose, break you down or break you open, getting you to feel things on a deeper level and become aware of something bigger than yourself and find different parts of yourself!! Wow! Amen David!

I really could listen to him all day….

    • Grammyj says:

Me too! That’s why I was so disappointed when he quit doing his Vlogs. I secretly wished he’d become a you-tube star, but we all know that Shay Carl scared him away from that. So, I am delighted that he is doing Facebook Live chats. They are better than his Vlogs of old. Not sure how many he will do, but sounded like he was planning on doing more since he wanted us to make suggestions on what he should do on Facebook Live sessions.

the lovely & amazing @taterzen alerted me to this most awesome convo & just had to share:

  14. peppertara says:

Haha, love the ‘awesome convo’. It appears to be true, my cats always seem to become very mellow when I am playing David’s music (especially his softer songs). Not that they ever get out of control but if a little restless they become like cuddle bunnies in meditation when I play that voice. πŸ™‚
