So it’s awfully quiet here in David-ville. Not just from the man himself but lots of fans seem to be MIA. Either they’ve all made “scale back on ODD” as a New Year’s resolution (a perfectly fine one, I might add), or they’re saving their energy for new music blitz time, or they are around but just trapped under something heavy.*
I think we know what David’s busy doing but just for the heck of it, let’s take a poll, shall we?

I will not be watching American Idol unless David is on. Did David actually say he was releasing Numb in January? If so he needs to get his little tush in gear and start some promotion. I wonder if he is back in Nashville or if he is still in Utah. He is such a ninja. I hope we hear something soon. Patience is not one of my strong suits especially when it comes to David and new music.

… on one hand that show introduced me to David in the first place but on the other, the producers are expert manipulators who clearly have their own “faves” and David doesn’t seem to be one of them, for some crazy reason…
….so do I trust them to have David on? (the only reason I’d watch)… No.
…Will I watch anyway, in the desperate chance that he will be on? Probably. lol
Also: Interesting article but none of them mentioned David as “someone who should’ve won but didn’t” so clearly a questionable bunch. 🙂

As for A.I. I may watch some of it, usually do, on and off… but haven’t got in to the whole show since season 7. No need for explanation. 🙂

Did David say “next year” for Numb and we all translated it into January because of the coco loco factor? My brain is still fogged from too much chocolate in my Christmas stocking. Wait, did I say “too much chocolate?” No such thing, there must be another reason.
I admit, I would watch an episode of AI15 just for a glimpse of David in the audience.
Ms. B., I thought I heard January mentioned on one of those interviews (the DJ saying it, not David) but that might have been wishful thinking on my part, lol.
Also wishful thinking was imagining AI could throw David even a crumb of support this last season. Against my better judgement I just watched the 1st 1/2 hour of the first episode and they seemed to give shoutouts to every former contestant EXCEPT David. When they showed Cookie winning they cropped his head so close (to make sure to leave David out) they practically cut off his ears. (Yet they made sure to include Adam Lambert in the Kris Allen victory clip.)

I’m watching AI and so far I don’t see anything that great. Too much attention on the judges . I doubt we’re going to see David on Idol again, but hey,,,,,,,,you never know.
I’m watching too, and I agree with olive oil another year with too much focus on the judges! I am a glutton for punishment! Putting myself through this nonsense thinking maybe, just maybe the show will produce another talent like David! Heck, even someone half as good as him would be nice to hear! SMDH!
I agree about the focus being on the judges, much more so than when Randy, Paula & Simon were around. I watched and saw a very talented young guy whose older brother had tragically died. Reminded me of David only African-American, lol.

thanks, peppertara! Had not seen that. I feel weird about him doing that for a couple of reasons. I can’t speak for David but can’t imagine him being happy about it. If Jeff sticks to generic info about Idol and show business, that’s one thing, but if he starts trying to share David stories for personal gain, that’s another. Just my opinion, of course.
And remember, hits on videos can be considered “personal gain” in the social media world.
I agree that David wouldn’t be happy about it–I remember D not liking his father to talk with fans (which Jeff did anyway otherwise we wouldn’t have known about it). Plus I would guess Jeff is most of the reason AI is so anti-DA. Just my guess.

Did anyone happen to see the exchange between JLo and Kanye West ? Lots of bleeps, but you could pretty much figure out what they were saying. How pathetic !! Is this supposed to be “current” and “cool”? Well gag me with a spoon . Whatever respect I had for JLo is gone. Kanye….well, what else can you expect ?
I didn’t stick with it that long, oliveoil, but heard about it… what bothered me most was when that young guy who’d had classical training did a really bizarre version of a song and as soon as he left they all started ridiculing him, really cruel … even for David’s season, I missed the audition part, don’t have the stomach for it, I guess.
Trace, I’d be surprised if his videos help bring David back to the show… but who knows, maybe AI did ask him to come back, but he said no because they wanted him to sing Imagine… AGAIN… lol

I doubt it will help David get back on AI. I will be very surprised if David is on this year. He doesn’t seem interested in AI any more. I’m watching but I am one who has watched every year. Season 7 was the best and it has sunk lower every year.
I am hoping David releases “Numb” soon and then the promised EP or album so we have something to talk about beside the last season of American Idol. I want new David music to talk about, but he seems to be buying flowers lol.

Yes, maybe if David is not doing an appearance on A.I. this year it is partly because he does not want to, could be the case. Could be other reasons too of course, As for the Jeff video, don’t really have an opinion one way or the other, seemed pretty neutral to me. Don’t want to judge I guess. At least not at this point.

David does seem to be buying flowers, hope they are for a big party after the soon to be released song “Numb”. Ha.

So David is photographed strolling some cute shops at Library Square in downtown SLC, possibly with a date, on the first night of AI, which IMO, show his indifference to the whole thing. However, a bunch of the past contestants participated in the auditions which happened last summer, and David didn’t seem to know about it being the last season, until it was mentioned in an interview for his Texas show, so I’d guess he hadn’t been contacted, and that he was snubbed rather than vice versa. But who knows what will happen during the live rounds.
I can’t judge, or even guess, what his opinion is about his dad’s video, but I personally appreciate the opportunity to hear more bts info about Season 7, and I can’t fault Jeff for taking maybe the last opportunity to re-live what had to be the most exciting time in his musician’s life and possibly trying to resurrect his own image a bit as well.
Oh, “All of the above”. Lol!
P.S. I’ve been addicted to AI since Carrie Underwood’s season and even pulled my kids out of school to go to the Season 8 finale and dress rehearsal, where my daughter stood on her chair pointing at her “Adam Lambert” t-shirt when he came out and blew us away. I’m watching for sure!
wow, cc halo, must have been quite something to be at the finale. Well, I’m sure they’ll bring Adam Lambert back if they can, but he’s doing pretty well so might not be available.
The manipulative nature of most so-called “reality” TV, including AI, leaves me cold… but then again, I might never have discovered David’s music if it weren’t for the show so I’m definitely torn there.
Have to admit that the highlight of the finale for me was spotting David in the audience. 🙂
