Cherry Lane most popular track… surprised?

Yes, I had already received my “Never Grow Up” CD in the mail, but of course I also had to buy an iTunes single of “Cherry Lane” … looks like other peeps did too. Not to be mean, but seeing that it filled all the bars in the Popularity column made me smile.

I love Brooke’s voice and I think she’s a sweetheart but her songs are usually too treacly for me… but as soon as David chimes in on “Cherry Lane,” he adds a darker layer, if that makes sense.

Whatever he sings (or writes) always has so many layers for me, one of the reasons I’m still here, I guess. He hints at a deep well of sadness that I can certainly relate to, can’t speak for anyone else.

I’m glad he’s taken a step back from his “new ring tone” … a lot of nonsense out there right now.

A local DJ I really like posted a blog today, introducing it with: “If you wonder why radio people are a little bit ‘off’, try reading/hearing some of the comments we get” … and her blog included this:

The first thing I did when I got my CD in the mail was import it to my iTunes library. I also had to buy Cherry Lane on iTunes. Yes, I’m actually listening to it right now and you are right about the darker layers that David adds with his amazing touch! My count on playing it is at 136 and that’s high for me. πŸ™‚ Just wish there was more of David on it, but I do love Brooke’s voice and she’s such a sweetheart. I love seeing all those bars in the popularity column. Go David!

  2. I adore the smooth tone of his voice on Cherry Lane, soooo rich!
AND THIS >>>”Whatever he sings (or writes) always has so many layers for me, one of the reasons I’m still here, I guess. He hints at a deep well of sadness that I can certainly relate to, can’t speak for anyone else” I think his new material will be deep, and I am gonna love it. I always prefer music with edgier, layered lyrics, like Leonard Cohen, Mumford and Sons etc…. songs that touch on the spiritual and yet difficult things in life and that can speak to varying viewpoints and world views. I am hoping David can “go there”

I have never heard David join in on a song and not make the song better.

I hadn’t realized Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons battled with depression, interesting Billboard article on being in the “spotlight”:

Will be fabulous to hear new music from David! Hope he has a terrific time today. Love the pic he sent of himself in rehearsal on stage, so natural.
Not surprised about Cherry Lane, the layers of David’s voice bring a kind of magic with them. Love what you wrote TOfan. Listened to the song many times. Good of Brooke to do the album and for a good cause.
Happy Valentines Day to everyone! Hope everyone has a sweet day, new music today makes it rather special! ❀
