Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noёl, @DavidArchie friends!

I just read this comment on David’s last FB post:

Thank you David, for coming to visit my daughter… You blessed her home with your love.

Apparently, David sang to the young girl struggling with cancer in her home the other day. (Not that he’d ever mention it.)

I know David’s done this type of selfless thing tons of times, so why did it strike me now?

Because I plan on remembering this any time I get impatient for new music or different music or vlogs or whatever.

To me, this is what Christmas is truly all about … love … simple acts of mercy and loving your neighbour as yourself.

So Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noёl to one and all!

Here are few clips I thought might capture the magic of the season:

Both versions because I can 🙂

And please don’t judge me, but I recorded this audio snippet of the children’s choir from the SLC Cathedral de la Madeleine (who were supposed to perform at the Interfaith Concert but didn’t) and just had to share (don’t worry, Mass hadn’t started yet 🙂 ):

What do you guys listen to at this time of year??

Brooke + David Archuleta “Cherry Lane” Stream

This guy, I can’t tell you the love and respect I have for him and his absolutely incredible talent which can only be surpassed by his character. Maybe he wins the #bestpersonIknow hashtag award. I’ve known him for years now since our Idol days, and have watched him grow from a shy teenage heart throb into such a great dude with such a solid sense of himself, God and all that is important in life. Since the return of his mission we’ve seen each other for a quick minute but have talked several times. Every one wants a piece of him, I knew people were beating down his door with requests and opportunities to lend his golden pipes so I was apprehensive at first to even ask him to do this, as a friend I try not to ask for anything 🙂 But given the nature of the project I figured it was worth asking, so I picked up the phone and gave him a call and told him about the cause. With in a few days he responded with an enthusiastic yes! Such great news! It just so happened that we would both be in Nashville at the same time, this in itself is a miracle.

So he came to Daniel Tashian’s studio on a Friday and the three of us wrote and recorded “Cherry Lane”, one of the happiest songs of the whole record…. stylistically it probably leans a bit more my direction with it’s throw back vibe, but the soothing sound of his voice on this call and answer chorus is what makes it completely magical. You don’t understand, his pitch perfect tone is at such a world class level, and it’s baffling, and yeah, nerve racking to even have my voice on the same track. Seriously, I get a tear whenever I hear him sing. Who doesn’t?! Anywho, “Cherry Lane” is a song for us grown ups, it was that first street I grew up on, it represents a simpler happy time and place when we’d “rather stay outside and play than stare down at the phone all day”. It’s emotional too though, David’s voice beckoning “we could go back, we could go back to where we were”. Thanks David for being a part of this. Also, funny side note, I was so excited that I called my parents from Nashville to tell them about the song the next day, and my mom said “oh honey, the street was actually called “cheery lynn”…. haha, ah well, cherry lane/ cheery lynn, tomato /tomahto close enough 😉

We’ve reached over 60% of our goal! Please help spread the word and get us over the hump!
Cherry Lane feat. David Archuleta:

From David’s Instagram: “Recorded a song called #CherryLane with my dear friend @realbrookewhite for her charity album “Brooke White & Friends, Never Grow Up”. Here’s a shot of us she got while we were writing and recording the song. She is raising her funds for #OURRescue now on Pledge Music so please help her reach her goal! Check out the other great duets and songs on the album! Great work Brooke! So glad to be a part of it! http://bit.ly/OURpledge”

Great things here TOfan! Thanks!! Christmas listening? This year it’s been a lot of ‘Angels from the Realms of Glory’ (all of them by David Archuleta)! Added to that, a lot of ‘Drummer Boy’ by various artists (I am in serious love with David’s version with Dapo).

BUT….. DO NOT ask me to like any version, by any artist, of “Santa Baby”. That song is just wrong IMHO!!!! Sorry to those of you who like it.

I was really sad that the SLC Cathedral de la Madeleine Children’s Choir didn’t sing at the concert. I had never heard them, but had heard of them, so I was excited to be able to finally partake. I promise myself every year that I’m going to go up there for mass sometime, but I just never get it to happen. Partly, because I’m not Catholic, and I hate looking stupid when doing new things that I have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing. 😉

Do we just love what Brooke has to say about David, or what!? She’s got him figured out. I really like this girl!! Really, I do. I wish, however that David’s voice had been more prominent in the song. But, he’s there and that’s all I really need. 😀

Hey Tawna… I can relate to being nervous going to a mass, I was lucky that my first time I had TOfan with me and it was very uplifting!!

(((TOfan)))) so many goodies in this post!!!
David truly does seem to share the spirit of Christ in Christmas….. something that we all should do more of. Hard to not get caught up in the commercial aspects tho….even Christmas programs and shows can distract sometime from just doing something good and unexpected for someone.
Love all the clips you shared… perfect>> but I am sad that I did not go with you to the mass and hear Cathedral de la Madeleine Children Choir slng!!! Thanks for getting that vid!!!

This from Brooke>> “You don’t understand, his pitch perfect tone is at such a world class level, and it’s baffling, and yeah, nerve racking to even have my voice on the same track. Seriously, I get a tear whenever I hear him sing. Who doesn’t?!” more ***sniff** As for the song I have only had one listen and it has not caught me yet… I am sure it will though, awesome that David worked with her on this project.

Frolijk Kerstfeest en en Gelukkig Neiuwjaarl
    Merry Christmas in Dutch!!!

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noёl to you too TOfan…..and to everyone. Lovely post and love the videos posted, the Happy Hanakkuh video is rather sweet! For each to celebrate their own faiths, beliefs in their own way is rather special too. Joy and peace to all.
David visiting a sick girl is not surprising, so thoughtful, such a kind and giving young man.
As for listening to holiday music, of course David’s is a must and yes I love Angels From the Realms of Glory and Oh Ven, well that just speaks for itself. I do listen to other artists as well (have a rather varied collection of Christmas music).
Aw, really nice music from the children’s choir you recorded. Something about children’s choirs too at this time of year, so endearing and sweet. Attended a concert the other day that included a children’s choir of 300 (they came on stage in 3 different age groups to sing, from 5 year olds to teens). Really was something wonderful.
Speaking of children and childhood, a sweet reflective song by Brooks and David. Definitely a feel good song! A very good cause too, kudos to Brooke and as Tawna said, loved what she wrote about David.
Best to all for a peaceful and joyful holiday season, hope yours is going well TOfan. 🙂

Oh…forgot David was in Europe, hope he has a fabulous time there! I know the people he meets and sings for will definitely love it.

  6. TOfan says:

I know nobody’s here but I’m posting this anyway, I have no idea why, lol… was listening to CFTH for the first time in FOREVER (didn’t put it on last Christmas for some reason) and WOW, it is SOOOO good!

In case you didn’t know. 🙂

  7. peppertara says:

Oh CFTH is incredibly good! I did know, 🙂 but love listening to it every year!
    Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas!

  8. TOfan says:

*SOBS* Marcella did an amazing job, David’s team should seriously hire her! Happy Birthday, bud!!!

    • archugeezer says:

Also a little emotional watching that video. He can do that to people, y’know? We have traveled a good part of that public journey with him. Sniff. Happy Birthday, David.

  9. peppertara says:

Aw, love Marcella’s video. What a sweet tribute to David. She always does a fantastic job.
A very, very Happy Birthday to David!

  10. missbianca says:

So much wonder and joy in this post! It caught me up too. Always the busy, giving guy, our David.

Oh, friends, thank you so much for the prayers and good wishes conveyed to me via group card. I was so sick; I nearly died. Infection in my blood (sepsis). I’m home now and regaining strength. Kitties add strength, I’m convinced.

    {{{{Hugs}}}} all around!

  11. TOfan says:

    {{{{{{{{Miss B.}}}}}}}
So glad you’re on the mend! Have missed you, my friend! (Did not mean for that to rhyme, lol.)
    ❤ ❤ ❤

  12. emmegirl14 says:

“Marcella did an amazing job, David’s team should seriously hire her! ” – agree tofan!

CFTH, I’ve listened to it almost exclusively every year.

missbianca, wow! So glad you are home and doing better!

  13. peppertara says:

Also very glad that you are home missbianca and you made it through a very difficult time. Happy that you are on the mend!
A Happy New Year to everyone!

  14. TOfan says:

A big Happy New Year to all!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ Looking forward to whatever new music David decides to share with us in 2015 and getting to celebrate it in style with all of you!!!!

Remember this New Year’s Eve? Still sooooooo good!
