My random playlist

Well, not much going on right now David-wise so I thought I’d share music I’ve been listening to lately …

I’ve been spamming Twitter with this Swedish-sister duo called First-Aid Kit… I’ve heard their music described as “Fleetwood Mac meets Johnny Cash,” which is pretty accurate, lol … their harmonies are gorgeous and I love every single song on their album Stay Gold (haven’t felt that way for ages)… this is today’s favourite:

I came across this song randomly and I don’t know anything about the band but I love the lead singer’s voice and the melody of it:

And this song comes from a collective who wants to make a positive difference with their music (sound familiar? 🙂 ) … I love the way they layer the sound as the song builds … warning, it’s addictive:

This is from an Irish band who sound like a throwback to another era (I swear I had NO idea how young they were until I’d already listened to the song about a million times, lol):

And I would KILL to hear David sing this someday:

So how about you guys?? What have you been listening to lately?

Some talented artists on your playlist TOfan. The “First Aid Kit” girls have a great sound!
If David were to sing “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” that would be fabulous. Such a beautiful song.
My playlist hasn’t changed much lately, same artists I usually enjoy listening too (always includes David of course). Lots of good artists out there though and a lot of good Indie artists.

I love the Strypes too! What am I listening to, now? Well, as you already know, The Milk Carton Kids are on repeat play everyday. I like Adele, Alfie Boe, Alison Kraus and Alexander Acha. I guess I’ll get around to the B’s later. lol. Lately I have been listening a lot to my own thoughts and gaining a real appreciation for silence. Rain. I adore the sound of rain. I’m waiting for something.

Alison Krauss is one of my faves! “I’m waiting for something” … *sigh* … THROW US A CRUMB, DAVID! lol #oppositeofpatient

Really like the sound of the Strypes, I don’t care how old (or young) they are!
(And I love the Do The Right Thing video!!!!)

Mostly I’ve been listening the the soundtrack from the TV show, “Nashville”. There are several full cds out and the songs are doing great on ITunes. Not surprising. They are written by those fabulous Nashville writers and are all original songs created for the show.

Also loving the song “All of Me” by John Legend.

I love an eclectic mix of music. I’ve been listening to everything listed in the comments above. Thanks for the new music suggestions, TOfan. Kris Allen has a new CD coming out on Tuesday so I’m looking forward to that. He used the same producer as the Civil Wars and it will have a more stripped down sound than he other two albums.

Guess I do have an eclectic mix of music too, that I listen to. Forget to mention that one artist I have been listening to lately is Luba. A Canadian singer’songwriter who has been around for a while (like me) and I’ve always loved her singing and Soulful/R&B sound. She released a new album this year called “Icon” which is mainly some of her old songs re-mastered along with a new song she wrote. Great album, loving the old songs again. 🙂

A friend of mine met Luba once (waaaay back) after one of her concerts, I didn’t realize she was still recording, will have to check that out, pepp!

And I don’t know Kris Allen’s music (haven’t watched Idol since S7 🙂 ) but did go to see him at a small venue here in Toronto last year with some David fans (a couple of whom were also Kris fans)… the place was tiny but had a cool vibe and I was really impressed with his voice and musicianship, seems like a really nice humble guy too.

Love that David went to see Gladys Knight, she’s always been one of my faves, with or without the Pips. 🙂

      oh and this 🙂

Great music lists all. I’ll add Sam Smith’s Disclosure album and a couple of oldies, Bread (Best of Bread album) and Doobie Brothers (Minute by Minute album.)

Happy Sunday to all at SAz!
