Always something just special about that pairing…and nostalgic to many. Idol fans of all walks whether Team Archie, Cook or of other contestants of other years…many still say Season 7 was the best. Because of those two.

Haven’t spent anytime cruising fandom; however, from what has been described on this thread, seems like it is the same with the most vocal “dictating” and “defining” fan behavior. I choose to look at the good, the humor, the gifts, his artistry, that are given and be grateful. If my wishes and desires aren’t being fulfilled as a fan, then I need to look inward.
David will make his choices as always on his own…I mean he doesn’t consult us anyway, lol. I am sure he is taking in everything after being away two years and deciding what direction to go. I hope it’s singing, as his artistry is something that brings me such joy. So yes, baby steps, getting his feet wet. He was so young in many ways when he did AI and all that came after. I am glad he is doing it “HIS WAY” now. And if opening up and sharing feelings is part of his growth, then YAY for us, the fans. *trys to not stick out grabbe-gimme hands* 😀
I love you, I love what you do, I would walk over coals for you, I love that when David was on hiatus you carried the torch with such beauty and humor, a bright pure flame, for those of us awaiting his return.

Yes, I remember when it used to be fun! And then David said in a peeved video, “I know how you don’t like my hair.” I don’t know what else has happened, but there’s never enough people on twitter anymore to have a fun conversation, not even right after David tweets.
I miss my people! David is not a real friend to me, but you who read this are. You read my words, you consider a reply, You maybe remember me from last time. You’ve maybe met me me at a concert. You’re important to me (cough *Deb*) and I am sad a lot these days as my peeps slip away into the ether (cough *not you Deb please not you* cough).

What a sweet reunion! Those two are truly buddies, how great that Cook had David up on stage to sing and David is such a trooper. I can only imagine him being tired and jet lagged from the last couple of days but what a sport he is…and he sang great!
Personally, I think David looks rather cute in his outfit. No criticism to anyone though, to each his own, haha. Think it’s a…”whatever your taste” kind of style….I’ve seen other young men wear similar outfits, socks and all. 🙂

Yeah, that thing I used to do…. carry a camera then realize I had nothing new on it because I’d been so hypnotized and mesmerized that I lost myself!!! Or, out of 695 pictures maybe one was even worth keeping. I’ve learned to leave the photography to those who really know what they are doing with it!!

Seriously speaking though, I think people are just anxious about scaring him away lol. We’ve all been waiting so long and react to that waiting differently. For some, I see something of a fear that David will get fed up with fans telling him what to do (even though most of the time he isn’t even tagged in the tweets) and just chuck it all and move to a convent in the Alps and sing I Have A Crush On Jesus. So.
Of course, some may just be really protective of tall socks with shorts. That’s possible too.

I have analyzed my “eek!” reaction to David’s black socks and shorts look and decided it comes from two things. First is I’m a geezer-in-training with decades of that is/isn’t what you should be wearing decisions (many ill-advised and if I could find all pictures of me in high school there would be a lot less proof). The other thing is that the strong horizontal lines caused by the dark shorts and the dark socks make him look kinda, well, short. Maybe he needs some shorts and socks in a nice khaki color.

I haven’t mustered up an “eek” yet, but I sure relate to the “decades of that is/isn’t what you should be wearing decisions.” To be honest, I am enjoying the fan consternation over David’s wardrobe choices. As a seasoned geezer, I have at some point donned bobby socks, poodle skirts, bell bottom jeans, platform shoes, gigantic hair and a dozen other trendy atrocities I would have guaranteed to last forever when I was “in the moment.” I know, I know; this is hard to believe coming from the socially aware and fashionably astute person I am today. 🙂
David’s newest look is not my favorite, as I expect him to yodel at any moment, but he seems to be plenty comfortable in his own skin-shorts-socks and buttoned-up self. You can’t argue with that kind of confidence, and just maybe he is slightly amused by the reaction. I can imagine him thinking, “OK, tomorrow I’m going to start wearing a feathered fedora with this outfit and then see what they say.”
Not worrying. It’s gonna get cold in Utah before long and those knees will run for cover. Meanwhile, David rocks “nerdy.”
