One great thing about David recording so many songs in his 23ish short years is that I sometimes forget about some of them. So when I “find” them again, it’s almost like getting a new song. Almost. But hey, I’ll take any crumb I can get at this point. Like this one for example:
I TOTALLY missed it when it came out. Sure, I bought the Japanese album, but I missed actually listening to it, I guess. Which is crazy because it ROCKS!
Can’t you just picture David singing this live?
This story can’t be fic-tion-al
This chapter’s only got two pages left
And I’ll re-write it all *slow-mo points to victim in crowd*
With you
*crowd goes wild*
mwahaha
And when I scrolled through my “Top 25 played” playlist recently, I was surprised to see this on it:
It wasn’t a top fave when I first listened to Forevermore but it’s the only song on there that made my Top 25 list, so I must’ve replayed it a lot, lol. It obviously really grew on me. I love the soulful groove of it, and his VOICE, wow… I think it’s different than on any other song. Rich like NY-style cheesecake. This might be my favourite part of the whole album:
I can’t stop, don’t know how to stahhhhpp thinking of youuu
I’ll do anything, do anything to be ne-e-E-e-E-ar you-U-u-U-u-U-u-U-u-U
*sigh*
And last but not least, I’ve come to LOVE this song.
I think it totally could have been a radio hit. It has over 457,000 views and the comments on it are all recent ones. I know, I know. The “persona” in the song isn’t really David… but it’s TOTALLY Josh Bradley!!! ๐
He can be as modest and unassuming all he wants in real life, but if he wants to morph into a suave, serial-dater, out-with-one-girl-thinking-of-another when he sings, I say, you go, David!
Actually I don’t care about persona… I just care about David singing good songs that show off his talent.
What do you guys think? Any “forgotten” songs you’re rediscovering??
p.s. Also totally forgot how much I love this live version … “Mr. Jay Durias, here” ๐ … wish this was the version on the CD tbh.
Thanks for the reminder about Day After Tomorrow … getting closer now, closer now. ๐
For me, a song I had “rediscovered” lately is this one from the book signing tour. (And it’s snowing here, how wonderful!)
This is one of the comments:
“Wow, I think David should have waited a few years to appear on Idol. As someone who has not heard him sing at all since then, his voice sounds much more mature and polished. But that comes from experience performing as well, which he might not have been able to do without Idol. Another thing Randy Jackson always say, “When you got it, you got it.” And David’s definitely got it. I completely enjoyed that.“
She’s Not Chew ๐ def. one of my faves…
I just saw that poor Charice attempted suicide recently. It is so hard for young stars today. Jonerz tweeted a link to this interview, “Babyface Explains Why Young Artists Can’t Survive Our ‘American Idol’ Culture” — really interesting when you think about David: http://huff.to/1b7k0WL
Let Me Go!!
i forgot about let me go too! my jam for a long time!
Never forgotten song for me. I loooveeeeeeeeeeee Senseless. Gahh… his voice and the lyrics! Dying to hear this live!
I know he flubbed the lyrics a few times during the show but the single was awesome and had the obvious DA flavor to it. So this is it for me ๐
The studio version was awesome, Mary Dee! And this video of the live version has been “doctored” so well I can actually enjoy the live version too now, hahahaha.
“Smoky Mountain Memories” – live and studio are both wonderful
but my all time fave is “Love Me Tender” – doesn’t get any better
Happy Holidays to all! Love ya SAz!!!!!

Smokey Mt. Memories is one of my favorites as far as the AI studio songs. Usually I felt something in the feeling got lost between the performance version and the studio version but not that one (When You Believe is another). But I do LOVE that live “Wherever You Are.” He is ON FIRE!! I wouldn’t dare touch him for fear of getting shocked during that one. It reminds me of when he’s on tour & he always pulls out a crazy awesome performance in some random Ohio/Wisconson/upstate NY venue just to remind you that you can’t miss anything. That song had nothing to do w/ wind blowing doves; it was about him blowing minds.
And yeah, “Mr. Jay Durias here.” Like, I’m cool and I’m running this show. Don’t mess.
Aw, this was an incredibly nice post. Finding the time and
actual effort to produce a top notch articleโฆ but what can I sayโฆ I procrastinate a whole lot and never manage to
get nearly anything done.
