The lovely and amazing @betsyjane25 tweeted a link to this vid last night and it was just what I needed to see, can’t really explain why.
What I can tell you are some of the random thoughts that ricocheted around my brain as I watched it… thoughts like:
Omigosh I forgot about this videoooooo!!!! … how on Earth can she sing while David freakin Archuleta’s playing the piano?????? … wow he’s really playing, so focused and serious… is that a Josh Bradley jacket? … she’s actually pretty good … yay, she stopped!! … go, David, go! … aww he’s trying to help her remember the words …. eeeeeeeeeee HE’S SINGING …. HE’S SINGING ADEEEELLLLLEEEEEE … asdlfkasjdflkasjdflkajflkajlfj *turns up volume* asd;lfksdjfksdajfasldkfsdjfksdjfkak “Yesterdaaay was the tiiiime of our liiiiiiiiiiiiiives” … yes it was, David … Feb. 2008 to March 2012 to be exact … ***SOBS***… girl with the striped shirt I’m sure you’re wonderful but PLEASE SIT DOWN NOW …. why is she not sitting down???? … he is way too nice… who could not love him, I mean, seriously … all those lucky peeps just hanging out jamming with The Archuleta nbd … random singing and playing during NA breaks … no wonder he loved it there … *SOBS MORE* … omigosh there’s Jasmine, playing it cool, looking not interested in the amazingness going on … just like Anya… ya right, hahaha … what does he need to do to impress her? A handstand?? lol … “NEVER MIIIIND I’LL FIND SOMEONE LIKE YOUUUUU”… yikes he is pounding the life out of those keys, he must be tough on pianos, lol … bring it home, David!!!! ….aww, he messed up and flashed his dimple…adorbs… I wonder if it’s harder to play that if you’re left-handed? … wait, he doesn’t know the rest of the song???… we do not believe you, David…*rewinds to David singing parts*

BTW,I was the stylist of David and the whole cast on the show.
Can I just say that despite his enormous talent, David is one of the nicest, most humble and down to earth people that I have met in my entire life.
I’m really proud to say that I have become a true fan.

I have never seen this video before. When I saw the link to this post on twitter, I nearly fell off my chair, and I was just telling myself. “Okay, breathe. He sang Adele. You’ll know what he sang momentarily. THE EPICNESS OF IT ALL”.
And you know what? For the past few hours, the lyric “we were born and raised in a summer haze” had been playing in my head OVER AND OVER again, and hearing David sing it, it was musical satisfaction in the most magical way ever.

And I admire the girl for just being able to breathe, let alone sing while David plays the piano in that amazing way. And when he sang. Omg. I would have passed out. She did such a great job!

p.s. Last night, I felt the urge to watch it. I was looking for it on YT, and couldn’t find it. I was panicking for a minute when I couldn’t find it, thinking maybe it was taken down. Then I remembered it was saved in my favorites. ♥
This is everything good.
As I watched David so adeptly playing the piano, I wondered about his time spent practicing… & when he joined in to support Miki’s singing, my heart swelled with joyful love for David… a marvelous & treasured response… David’s generous nature & golden voice are rare, precious blessings…

Love this video, love David at the piano, love David singing Adele (if only part of the song) and love watching it! I remember the first time I saw this video….I think my reaction was a little like the description up top, hahaha. Very brave of Miki to sing with Mr. wonderful artist, piano man, singer extraordinaire! She has a great voice, lots of kudos to her. He was sweet to encourage her to continue the song and join in (more please David). Will he ever play and sing the whole song? Well, who knows.
One of my fave things though….David playing piano, singing and doing what he does so beautifully.
