After much research and hours of study, intense focus groups and tireless dedication to detail, I’ve decided these are my two favourite performances from the Asia tour: EWTRTW and LDH.
Why?
Because one is a song I’ve known and loved most of my adult life but I never ever would have suggested it as a “David” song. Yet here it is. Reborn. A completely new revelation of a song. The intro alone is enough to reduce me to a quivering mass of goo. (And not just because he says “It’s from the eighties” like he’s talking about the 1880s.) Then he gets going and the energy and the intensity mixes with the smooth-dude awkwardness and the timeless heart of that song and I almost can’t wait for it to be over so I can listen to it again.

And my other favourite is brand new and not a ballad like I thought I would prefer but no. It rocks and he rocks and the groove is infectious and I actually love the fact that I have no idea if the “Love” in the title is supposed to be a verb or a noun. It gives crazy little flashbacks of unsure teenage Idol David then leaps forward to commanding fist-pumping, dance-grooving future David. But mostly I think that magical combination will always be there. Yes, please. 🙂

Aww….tour songs, so many to choose from that tour. Have to say that I love your two choices TOfan, a lot, sooo good….but would also, absolutely, most definitely have to add Heaven and Everything And More. Two of the most gorgeous outpourings of emotion and blissful singing, love them! Every single song David performed was outstanding to the max but guess those few top my list.
Had to LOL at Cantiello’s humour, what a character, haha.

Love this post TOfan! I have also wondered alot about whether “love” is a noun or a verb! Haha. And EWTRTW is love. I’d never heard the song before him singing it but I love it all the same. Love when he sings “Welcome to your liiiiiiiife”.
And i agree with peppertara. Heaven is on my list!!!

My favorite from the tour are 2. “Everything and More” just hits that listening sweet spot. And, “My Hands” at the last concert was fantastic especially the acapella ending. If I had the time and techno savvy, I’d take the YouTube videos and make a collection of “My Hands” endings from the various concerts. 😀

Well this is a fun post! 🙂 In regards to EWTRTW, I loved “The intro alone is enough to reduce me to a quivering mass of goo” comment, but it’s the end that turns me into goo, too … seems so totally heartfelt, like he’s inviting us to “our world” to “live our life”. Also, I know what you mean by this comment: “I almost can’t wait for it to be over so I can listen to it again”. I feel the same way about EWTRTW and a few other songs, too. 🙂

I agree with both of those songs as favorites, but would add “Stomping the Roses” … some have wondered why he starts with that song, but it really gets the crowd going and I think lets him release nervous energy. Love the rose throwing and stomping (and the jab at Jive). I also would include “Heaven” because he does “tell” it so well and makes us “understand” it!
I checked back at my bookmarks to see what songs from the Asian tour I had bookmarked most (partially because of good recordings I’m sure) and it was “Heaven”, “Love Don’t Hate”, STR, EWTRTW, SBM, EAM and “Crazy”. I would add to favorites from the Asian tour “Stand By Me” because he sings it so well and you can tell he loves to sing it; “Everything and More”, also, even though I don’t like the recorded version as much as the live version … less is more on EAM for me (production wise) so I like the live sound.
Okay, I’m getting rambly as usual, so I better quit. Well, one more comment: Kizzi, I hope he always sings “My Hands” and you’re right a video collection of “My Hands” endings would be awesome. Anybody out there that can help that happen? (not me cause I’m really not technically savvy).

Hello my babies. I’ve been absent but lurking – haven’t missed a single tweet, photo or video that has surfaced during this summer. Some of you probably know, but I had a baby girl on August 4th. She weighed 3260 kilograms and was 50 centimeters tall/long, however you say it 😛 Now she’s almost 2 weeks old and has been eating like her father. Meaning A LOT. So she’s probably at a healthy weight now lol. I haven’t yet played David’s music for her – I will soon though. I’m just trying to get used to everything still. But for ME David’s voice is as soothing as ever – really helps me calm down when I’m stressed out ❤

Enjoy your time with your beautiful little bundle, they grow up so fast! I play David for my 6 mo old granddaughter and it calms her right down, almost without fail.

I think Heaven is my top fave, with EWTRTW right behind it, EAM live is def better than the studio version (which is only ok for me) and Crazy is incredible…. hmmm changeing mind as I type> EWTRTW is the BEST!!

Love, love, don’t hate your article. He had a serious groove-thang going on in that EWTRTW. Love that performance, his enjoyment of the band behind him….the oooh at 2:11, his abandon at 3:20, and through the whole darn thing really. Maaahvelous!
Actually, I have loved every EWTRTW performance from MB on. It’s a great song for him and would love to see him replicate some of that vibe in future songs – and I hope, hope he continues to perform it through the Christmas tour.

I have to put my vote in for that amazing Heaven too! And Crazy is up there with Angels, a song I will never tire of hearing him sing. His voice and that song are a perfect pairing.
